Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a concrete room of 7m x 7m x 4m with numerous infra-red cameras to allow for viewing of the pod, as well as a reinforced steel door for entry into the room. A camera is to be kept by the viewing hatch at all times, shining infra-red light into the cylinder towards SCP-XXXX-2. At least three staff are to be present at any time to view the footage of SCP-XXXX-2, as well as to observe the cylinder.

Entry to SCP-XXXX's room is prohibited to staff below Level 3 clearance. Bare skin contact with SCP-XXXX-1 is strictly prohibited. SCP-XXXX is to be cleaned thoroughly after experimentation.

Two (2) armed guards are to placed outside SCP-XXXX's door. In the possible event of SCP-XXXX-2's escape, Procedure XXXX-383 is to be undertaken, ensuring that SCP-XXXX-2 is either immobilised or, in the case of extreme violence, Procedure XXXX-384 initiated and SCP-XXXX-2 terminated.

Testing SCP-XXXX with other anomalous entities is currently prohibited.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is a large cylinder measuring 5m in length and 2m in diameter, with a pipe from the middle of the cylinder connecting it to SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX features a viewing hatch allowing observation of the interior of the cylinder. The glass portion of the hatch has the effect of darkening when exposed to direct visible light. The viewing hatch does not appear to be affected by ambient or infra-red light.

SCP-XXXX-1 has the appearence of a blank tabletop. Microscopic analysis of the surface reveals very few abnormalities. However, when in contact with living matter, be it sapient, sentient, or non-sentient, it envelops part of the matter with a black substance described to possess a texture similar to that of cooking oil, which is known to researchers as Substance XXXX-1A. SCP-XXXX-1 appears to have either very complex workings or low-level sentience, as it has been demonstrated to respond differently to plants, animals and fungi, as well as living and dead organisms, to notice when multiple organisms are in contact with it and to act accordingly, and to restructure patterns of organisms placed onto its surface.

All attempts to access the interior of SCP-XXXX have failed. A single organism is visible through the viewing hatch, designated SCP-XXXX-2. The inside of SCP-XXXX appears metallic, while the outside is dulled black in colour. Any attempts to test the outer material of the cylinder have resulted in failure.

SCP-XXXX-2 is a vaguely humanoid sexless organism that has been dormant inside of SCP-XXXX since its retrieval from ██████, Australia. Upon its securing by the Foundation in 19██, SCP-XXXX-2 appeared to resemble an amalgam of numerous humans who had been in contact with SCP-XXXX-1, only with a set of mandibles protruding from its mouth and an additional set of arms, as well as an enlarged abdomen. Of particular interest to researchers is SCP-XXXX-2's responses to organisms placed onto the surface of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 appears to be feeding data in the form of DNA into SCP-XXXX-2, causing it to mutate and/or develop traits consistent with organism placed onto SCP-XXXX-1. Following continued testing of SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2 now resembles [REDACTED].

Chronological History

04/11/19██: A drug raid is conducted in the ██████ suburb of ██████████ under the operation of Australian Federal Police forces. SCP-XXXX discovered within the home at 2200 hrs. It is believed one of the officers, Sgt. W██████ M███████, made skin-to-surface contact with SCP-XXXX-1, and later, ASIO officer L███ K█████ unwittingly did the same.

05/11/19██: SCP-XXXX is transported to a Foundation Outpost in ████████, ███ █████ █████, where it is held awaiting transport to Site ██. All Federal personnel involved with transportation administered amnestics.

██/11/19██: SCP-XXXX is successfully transported to Site ██. Testing initiated.

██/03/20██: All testing of SCP-XXXX-1 discontinued due to [REDACTED]. Testing rights retained for the remainder of SCP-XXXX.
