2991

Item #: SCP-2991

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2991 is to be kept tied by his own strings to a 2m high pole made of steel in the middle of a 3m x 3m x 3m room made of concrete. All personnel ranking D or higher are authorized to enter the room, as long as they receive permission from a higher ranking official. Fire is to be kept away from SCP-2991 at all times.

Description: SCP-2991 is a tall, pale humanoid standing about 2.5 meters high, and 25 cm wide. It has black hair and bony skin, along with large, pale eyes.

The subject can create and manipulate threads, which can be produced from anywhere on its body, most commonly the mouth, hands, and back. These threads are very sharp, and cannot be destroyed unless with fire, which must be at least 260 degrees Celsius. They are also made from an unknown material similar to silk, but much more durable. It seems to be unable to destroy its own strings, hence the containment procedures.

Interviewed: Commander █████

Interviewer: Dr. █████

<Begin Log>

Dr. █████: We recently have noticed that your behavior has been different, almost as if you're afraid something's about to happen. This is especially true near 2991. Why?

Commander █████: (Nothing.)

Dr. █████: Say something.
Commander █████: (He takes a deep breath.) We left on that trip with 5 men. I was the only one to return, along with another, who died of his injuries a week later. (He pauses. Dr. █████ motions for him to continue. The commander continues reluctantly.) We reached the location, a run-down house in the middle of nowhere. We entered the small house, only to find it was in ruins, as if it were hundreds of years old. There was a door to the basement, where we could hear breathing emitting. We slowly opened the door, only to see a concrete room with a dimly lit table in the middle. Standing over the table was the creature. Doing as we normally would, we approached it. As soon as we we stepped towards it, strings burst out of its back, immediately impaling two of my men through the chest. We opened fire, but to no avail. It used the strings to pick up another of my men and shield itself, ripping the man in half afterwards. It attacked my only remaining soldier, who stunned it with a tranquilizer. We carried it back to the van, grateful to have our lives. If only my last man knew it wouldn't last long…
Dr. █████: (He ends the log, writing everything down.)

Closing Statement: Commander █████ later developed Paranoid Schizophrenia and was terminated to prevent him from telling anyone about the facility.
