SCP-1481: Public Draft 1

Item #: SCP-1481

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-1481 is contained in a 4 m by 5 m chamber, walled with 60 cm reinforced steel plating and 4 m of concrete. No reflective material is permitted within the chamber: this includes glasses, water, camera lens elements, and polished metal surfaces. Blood has not been observed to pose any risk of containment breach. High-sensitivity wide-band microphones and sonar emitter/receivers monitor and record the chamber at all times. CCTV cameras and other electromagnetic sensors are not required.

The chamber is accessible through an airlock. D-Class personnel authorized by Dr. ███████ are permitted access for scheduled data collection. Only the designated analyst for SCP-1481 is permitted to speak with the entity, for no more than 15 minutes at a time, once per week. Designated analysts are to be terminated and replaced at a minimum interval of 4 months, and should be terminated ahead of schedule at the first sign of brightening from SCP-1481.

Description: SCP-1481 is a sentient humanoid composed of hardened black tar. It stands 2.3 m tall and weighs 138 kg. It is sinuous and muscular, and has no facial features other than two faint points of pale blue light in place of eyes, which brighten when SCP-1481 becomes aggressive or disinterested. No electromagnetic scans of the entity can be made, as it is only visible to human eyesight and sonar. In addition, it casts no shadow and shows no reflection in any surface.

Upon coming into physical contact with any reflective material, SPC-1481 can spontaneously vanish, reappearing from another reflective surface no more that 10 km from the starting point. This manner of containment breach must be met with full force by all personnel and field agents. Before reappearing, the entity can sometimes be spotted in mirrors and other similar surfaces, and most often attempts to throttle subjects who observe it in this way.

When SCP-1481 is at peak levels of hostility or boredom, it becomes exceedingly violent, and will kill the first person it sees via choking or brutal dismemberment. To date, SCP-1481 has killed [DATA EXPUNGED] of its analysts, due to breaches in conversational protocol by the analysts (according to numerous status reports by Dr. ███████.)

SCP-1481 is capable of communicating in an undetermined number of languages by emitting a hollow, grating sound from its skin. It displays extensive knowledge of physics and astronomy, as well as specific data pertaining to certain Keter-class SCPs, most notably SCP-682 and SCP-███. However, it will only verbally cooperate with one designated analyst at a time, whom SCP-1481 always refers to as "Key". Prospective analysts are trained extensively before meeting with SCP-1481 for 30 seconds. If SCP-1481 does not refer to the prospective analyst as "Key" within these 30 seconds, the analyst is immediately evacuated from the room and transferred.

The balance of familiarity with SCP-1481 is of paramount importance in keeping an unshielded analyst alive. Analysts that share too little information about themselves over their 4 month tenure are in danger of being killed, as are analysts that do not share any information. Communication attempts made by anyone other than an approved analyst have always resulted in violence. Physical trauma sustained by the entity will repair itself in a matter of minutes, rendering defensive measures such as firearms and explosives relatively ineffective at neutralizing SCP-1481.

Addendum 1481-C:

Analyst B18: You didn't lose any body mass when you regrew your leg. Could you tell me where -

SCP-1481: Ripped it off. Did not look at me. Ten apes. Key. Were not present.

Analyst B18: <Clears throat> No. No, I evacuated when you breached containment. Protocol.

SCP-1481: Did you fear me. Key.

Analyst B18: The Key is not frightened. I seek only – no, it's okay, we're only looking for cooperation.

Dr. ███████ : <Over intercom> B18, evacuate immediately. SCP is brightening! Repeat, SCP is –

Analyst B18: No, everything's fine, we're – <Starts gasping for air, sound of neck snapping, body hits floor>
