Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, it is to be contained in a large, steel container in the warehouse of Site-██. Access to SCP-XXXX is restricted to level 3 personnel or higher. In the event any personnel fall under the anomalous influence of SCP-XXXX, two guards are to be sent and perform waking procedure on SCP-XXXX-A, afterwards SCP-XXXX-A is detained until the influence of SCP-XXXX wears off, otherwise must be administered Class-A amnestics by the on-site staff

Description: SCP-XXXX is a twin-sized, 97 cm × 191 cm metal frame bed originating from the industrial era (18th century), with a cotton mattress of unknown origin placed inside of the frame. Removal of the mattress has no effect on the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX. Any mattress placed in the metal frame does not display any kind of ageing, such as discolouration, during the time it is located on the metal frame.

All personnel that have been within close proximity of the item have reported a feeling of fatigue alongside a strong desire to sleep in it. When a person (hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-A) is denied access to SCP-XXXX after being fully exposed to its anomalous properties, it will become aggravated and try to reach the bed at all costs. When SCP-XXXX-A lies on top of SCP-XXXX, it will fall asleep within a span of fifteen seconds to seven minutes. This influence has been observed in all instances of SCP-XXXX-A, even those diagnosed with sleeping disorders such as insomnia. However, the after-effects of SCP-XXXX will only present themselves if SCP-XXXX-A is permitted to enter REM sleep before being awoken.

Should these conditions all be met, SCP-XXXX-A will enter a comatose-like state, thus refusing to awaken unless being verbally commanded to do so by another human being. During this time SCP-XXXX-A will not show any signs of ageing, disease or sickness. Testing has shown that other animals, such as dogs, are not able to break SCP-XXXX-A out of its sleeping state.

After performing various tests with SCP-XXXX it has been confirmed that there is a direct correlation between the amount of time spent sleeping on SCP-XXXX and the amount of time SCP-XXXX can function without sleep, after waking up. If SCP-XXXX-A sleeps for seven days, for instance, it will not need to rest for seven days. This, however, does not influence SCP-XXXX-A's stamina.

*It is known that the main effect of SCP-XXXX only presents itself when the subject is lying on the top surface of the item. Normal contact or laying on any of the other surfaces, i.e. the floor, bottom side or even the side only yields the drowsy side effect of SCP-XXXX and shows no signs of placing the subject into any comatose-like state such as the one exhibited by test subjects lying upon the surface.

Once the effects of SCP-XXXX's influence wears off, SCP-XXXX-A seems to exhibit various sleeping disorders, that are observed to be permanent. They include, but are not limited to:

- Insomnia
- Hypersomnia
- Parasomnia
- Sleep Apnea
- Narcolepsy
- Fatal Familial Insomnia

Any medical treatment or medication administered to SCP-XXXX-A, such as Estazolam for insomnia, has proven unsuccessful to impact the side-effects of SCP-XXXX to this date.

Addendum SCP-XXXX-A-8192: To fully comprehend the effects of SCP-XXXX following experiments have been conducted by Senior Researcher Dr ███. Due to the incidents involving SCP-XXXX, any exposure of foundation personnel should be as restricted as possible. Every subject was woken up by a certified member of the staff via microphone. Should any notable tests occur please note them in the following format.
