Item #: SCP-2441

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2441 is to be kept in a windowless, sound-proof cell. Any single personnel that wishes to observe SCP-2441 may do so. If more than one person wishes to enter simultaneously, access may be granted after mild psychological testing. In the case of a containment breach, SCP-2441 may be used in the re-containment of other SCPs, as well as protecting staff, under the jurisdiction of level 4 personnel.

Description: SCP-2441-1 has the appearance of a granite gargoyle measuring 1.8m tall. SCP-2441-1, while in a neutral state, can be observed crouching on top of a Roman-style limestone pillar measuring 1m tall and .3m in radius, dubbed SCP-2441-2. SCP-2441-1 has two curved horns protruding from its forehead and two additional horns from either temple. SCP-2441-1 possesses large wings with structure similar to that of bat wings. Its face resembles that of a bull and is formed into a snarl with large pointed teeth. Normally inanimate, it will become active if an organism or object of high value within a 122 meter radius of SCP-2441-2 is at risk of death or irreparable damage. Value is allegedly determined by human quota, though further testing is required. Subjects at risk must have either direct line of sight with SCP-2441, or be within audible range for it to animate.
When animate, SCP-2441-1 will fly towards the endangered subject and make all attempts to prevent the subject from lethal harm. Notable protective behaviors SCP-2441-1 has been observed executing include:

  • Catch falling objects, weighing up to 2.1 tonnes
  • Bite any organism making an attempt to harm a subject, rendering said organism comatose
  • Intercepting projectiles moving towards a subject at up to [REDACTED]
  • Bite subject, curing them of most ailments/diseases, including some effects of other SCPs. Further testing is required.

If an obstruction blocks SCP-2441’s path, it will teleport just before impact, reappearing on the other side of said obstruction. Composition testing of SCP-2441-1 proved it to be made of common granite, though full composition testing gave inconclusive results, as did testing of SCP-2441-2. SCP-2441-1 is extremely resilient to damage, and is inseparable with SCP-2441-2 when sitting atop it. Blunt strikes administered by heavy machinery, with forces upwards of ██████ N, and detonation of 500 kg of TNT at point-blank range resulted in no damage to SCP-2441-1. Further testing revealed that SCP-2441-1 can be damaged [REDACTED]. When SCP-2441-1 becomes damaged, it (and any pieces) will crawl/fly/roll towards SCP-2441-2, and fuse together within ██ seconds. If SCP-2441, or any pieces of SCP-2441-1 cannot move towards SCP-2441-2, they will teleport near SCP-2441-2 within a 2m radius.

Addendum:
SCP-2441-1 is also capably of projecting its high-damage resistance onto subjects, and at this time taking on the vulnerability of said subject (See Test 2441-E). In some instances, SCP-2441-1 can grant damage resistance to multiple subjects, exponentially becoming weaker structurally. Damage done to SCP-2441-1 does not result in subject regaining their normal vulnerability. However, SCP-2441-1 will abandon subjects if SCP-2441-2 becomes damaged, and exhibit protective behavior, treating SCP-2441-2 as a high-priority subject.

Testing Log:

2441-A:
D-class personnel was placed into the containment cell of SCP-2441-1. A rabies infected gray wolf was then led into the cell. The wolf began to rush at the personal, with SCP-2441-1 colliding with it within █ seconds. SCP-2441-1 bit the wolf, piercing its flesh, which rendered the animal unconscious. After several moments, SCP-2441-1 returned to its original position on SCP-2241-2. A rabies test with the wolf was conducted, producing negative results.

2441-B:
██████ ███████ was set up in a hospital bed in SCP-2441’s cell. ██████ ███████ was then injected with a solution containing a relatively high concentration of E. coli bacteria. Subject remained visibly healthy for 37 hours before complaining of nausea and diarrhea, and progressively showed visible signs of illness. ██████ ███████ became bedridden 102 hours after initial injection due to weakness from malnutrition and blood loss, and remained under IV-feeding for 13 more hours. At this time (152 hours post-injection) vitals suddenly became critical and subject became at risk of death; heart-rate dropped to 13 bpm. ██ seconds after drop in heart-rate, SCP-2441-1 flew towards the subject and made a slit in the subject’s left wrist using its claws. As ██████ ███████ began to bleed out, SCP-2441-1 began to drool a reddish, viscous liquid into subject’s mouth. After ██ seconds, the bleeding stopped and SCP-2441-1 returned to its position on top of SCP-2441-2. Subject’s heart-rate slowly rose to 73 bpm, and remained constant. Further testing showed subject’s body free of E. coli, and had complete nutritional health. A small amount of the reddish substance remained on the mouth of SCP-2441; testing revealed [REDACTED].

2441-C:
SCP-2441-1 was placed into the holding area of SCP-682, along with a D-class personnel. Tank containing SCP-682 was opened remotely. SCP-682 rushed at the D-class personnel, at which point SCP-2441-1 rushed at SCP-682. The two collided, knocking SCP-682 3m sideways. SCP-2441-1 bit down on the neck of SCP-682, causing it to mildly convulse and spasm for ███ seconds, with SCP-2441’s teeth still in its neck. SCP-682 made a large thrashing movement, knocking SCP-2441-1 off of itself. The two SCPs charged at each other, and upon colliding each SCP had grabbed ahold of two of the other’s limbs (with the other two limbs being grabbed by the other SCP). They remained in this stand-off for █ minutes, during which SCP-682 grew two new limbs and threw SCP-2441-1 off of it. SCP-2441-1 however quickly tore off three limbs of SCP-682, who then viscously attacked SCP-2441-2, smashing it into multiple fragments. SCP-2441-1 flew towards SCP-2441-2 and stood between it and SCP-682 while it fused back together. By the time SCP-2441-2 had fully fused together, the D-class personnel had been devoured. SCP-2441-1 crouch atop SCP-2441-2 and became inanimate.

2441-D:
A maine coon cat, owned by Dr. ███████████, was strapped onto a steel table, with SCP-2441-1 and J██████ █████ each exactly 20m from the cat. Dr. ███████████ was seated in an adjacent room facing a sound-proof plexiglass window on the wall separating the two rooms. She had no knowledge of what the test entailed, nor of SCP-2441. J██████ █████ fired an entire 20-round magazine from the rifle. This resulted in SCP-2441-1 intercepting the bullets, 2.1m from the cat, hovering in mid-air until each bullet had bounced off of itself. The experiment was conducted a second time, but without Dr. ███████████ knowledge. J██████ █████ fired one round, which killed the cat; SCP-2441-1 remained inanimate.

2441-E:
A wristwatch owned by Dr. ████████ (this watch was a family heirloom, passed down 4 generations) was placed on top of 1kg of plastic explosives, set 8m from SCP-2441. Dr. ████████ (who had no knowledge of what the test entailed, nor SCP-2441) was seated behind a blast-door, with a pressure-resistant viewing window. The explosives were remotely detonated. SCP-2441-1’s left hand exploded, and the watch flew 8.1m, and was found undamaged. The experiment was conducted a second time. However, SCP-2441-1 remained inanimate and the watch was destroyed.
Hypothesis: Since Dr. ████████ didn't think any damage would happen to his watch, there was no threat for SCP-2441 to stop. Additionally, If SCP-2441-1 knows it can’t possibly do anything about something being damaged, it becomes as fragile as the object it protects, and the object becomes as durable as SCP-2441.
