The 'X21' Fridge

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 2x2 meter steel walled room with one 3 prong outlet in Site 15. It is to be guarded under standard security procedures. It is to remain plugged in at all times. No one is allowed to touch the plug, unless strict permission is given by a level 4 researcher. Nothing may be inserted into the fridge without permission from a level 3 researcher. Attempting to tamper with the fridge without permission may result in a one rank demotion.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a black, side-by-side fridge. It appears to be made out of standard stainless steel, although no data sample could be done. It is 172x80x50 cm in measurement. It has no visible tags on the front, however on the back it reads that is a 'X21 Brand' and a maker tag reading [DATA EXPUNGED] was found. Upon calling the company and questioning them of the fridge, they say they have never made anything with that model name. It has a cord that is a standard 3 prong plug that uses 80 watts of electricity while empty and 120 watts while having something in it.

Many tests have found SCP-XXXX to not have any unnatural qualities. The inside of the fridge portion has three (3) shelves, each being 50 cm apart. It also contains two (2) drawers, each only 20x20x50 cm, the first being labeled 'Meats' and the second being labeled 'Fruits/Vegetables'. The freezer portion of the fridge contains three (3) shelves, being the same size as the one in the fridge portion. There appears to be 2 slots where drawers were, but both of the drawers appear to be removed.

If SCP-XXXX is unplugged, it will shut off with a beep. When SCP-XXXX is unplugged, whoever unplugged it will feel the urge to plug it back in. If the urge is resisted they will begin to experience anxiety, followed by depression. The person will repeatedly attempt to plug SCP-XXXX back in after they reach the depression stage. An attempt was made to unplug SCP-XXXX through use of a robotic arm, however the Class D who controlled the robotic arm still began to feel the urge to plug it back in. If the person who unplugged SCP-XXXX is killed, the feeling will be passed onto who killed the person; whether they killed them directly or remotely. If the person who unplugged SCP-XXXX dies of natural causes, the person will be brought back to life, now referred too as SCP-XXXX-01.

SCP-XXXX-01 appears to be fully revived, all of their vital organs restarting. They will not respond to any actions, and appear to only wish to plug in SCP-XXXX. They ignore any obstacles, and head to where the fridge is stored. Once SCP-XXXX-01 plugs SCP-XXXX back in they will immediately die again, decomposing within minutes. If SCP-XXXX-01 is unable to get back to the machine with 24 hours, the machine will start emitting a beeping tone, a 5 second delay between each beep. Each beep has a different pitch and length. Anyone who can hear the beep will immediately help SCP-XXXX-01 in anyway they can. This includes using force. This person is now referred to as SCP-XXXX-02. Once SCP-XXXX-01 has plugged the fridge back in, SCP-XXXX-02 will forget ever helping SCP-XXXX-01. If SCP-XXXX-01 cannot find a outlet for the plug, it will move the fridge to the last place SCP-XXXX-01 saw a plug.

SCP-XXXX; while not unplugged works like a normal fridge would. It has temperature control for both sides, however they do not appear to do anything. Each dial has seven settings, only labeled by numbers. Upon inserting food and closing the fridge/freezer door the food item will vanish. It was later found by Dr. ███████ that the number you set the temperature control too would determine when the food would return. When the food returned there was no difference in it, only one setting on the dial would give the food a change. It appears the food does not age when it is stored in SCP-XXXX. Upon inserting something that wasn't food, nothing would happen to it. Putting in liquids also results in nothing happening. Setting in food that is in a container will result in the food vanishing, but the container remains intact and in the fridge. It is unknown how SCP-XXXX determines what is food or not. Each dial setting was tested on a standard ham and american cheese sandwich with white bread.

  • Setting it to 1 makes it return in 1 minute.
  • Setting it to 2 makes it return in 30 minutes.
  • Setting it to 3 makes it return in 20 days.
  • Setting it to 4 makes it return in 20 seconds.
  • Setting it to 5 makes it return in 3 months. This one made the ham turn into chicken, the american cheese into white american cheese, and the white bread into wheat bread.
  • Setting it to 6 makes it return in 1 year
  • Setting it to 7 makes it not appear to return. It may just have a long waiting time. It appears to make all ingredients to their most natural state. It does this after a course of ██ years.

No difference was reported in any of the sandwiches, except the setting 5 sandwich. Each resulting sandwich except the setting 5 sandwich was given to a Class D personnel. They all ate the sandwich and reported saying that it tasted good, and that they enjoyed it. No side affects were reported. The setting 5 sandwich was given to a Class D personnel the next day, who reported it to taste very bland and old, followed by the Class D reporting multiple stomach aches. The Class D then threw up twice. He was fine from that point on. Upon inspecting another sandwich of the same type from the setting of 5, it was found that all the ingredients appeared to be made from a strange unknown substance. The substance appears to be a mixture of [REDACTED] and [REDACTED].

Any and all attempts to take apart SCP-XXXX and inspect its inner parts have resulted in repeated vomiting, sharp pain, and dizziness followed by extreme bending in [DATA EXPUNGED] to the person who attempted to tamper with SCP-XXXX, within 2 minutes, resulting in death.

Additional Notes: SCP-XXXX was found in an scrapyard in 19██. A pair of scavengers came by and saw SCP-XXXX. They then took it home and plugged it into their home. They put their food inside of SCP-XXXX, and then proceeded to leave. When they came back all of their food was gone, only empty containers were left. They called the police, fearing that their house had been broken into. The police arrived and investigated the fridge, and were surprised to find empty packages that clearly weren't even tampered with. They took it back to their headquarters so they could inspect it. Our facility then got alerted when a investigator was found [DATA EXPUNGED] next to SCP-XXXX, with no signals to how he died.

Addendum: A Class D personnel was told to unplug the fridge. He did so, and was then pulled out by two (2) members of █████ squad to restrict him from plugging it back in. He was put back into his cell. Soon he became SCP-XXXX-01, and he began banging on the door, trying to knock it down. SCP-XXXX-01 banged on the door for one whole day. SCP-XXXX then began its beeping procedure, making two (2) MTF guards into SCP-XXXX-02. They began to head to SCP-XXXX-01's cell, even though having no prior knowledge of it. They tried to tell the two guards to let him out. They both said no, refusing to let SCP-XXXX-02 into the cell. SCP-XXXX-02 then pulled out their guns, shooting both of the officers, taking their keycard and letting out SCP-XXXX-01, guarding him until he was at SCP-XXXX's container. They let SCP-XXXX-01 in, letting him plug it back in. As soon as he plugged it back in the two guards returned to the positions outside of the container. When questioned of what they just did, they said they had no memory of doing anything. They were both promptly [DATA EXPUNGED]

Addendum 1/7/19██ When Dr.███████ went to do his daily check of the fridge, he found the fridge door already open, and there was a male bovine and a female swine, along with 3 grains. They were taken back to a lab for inspection, and were found to have no abnormalities. They are now in a container in site 15, and are now identified as SCP-XXXX-03 and SCP-XXXX-04. It is believed this the effect of the seventh setting. It may be the sandwich that was placed in the fridge ██ years ago. We are putting in an egg, a slice of ham, a slice of beef, and a cookie.

Addendum 1/7/20██ When Dr.█████ went to do his daily check, he found the fridge door open, along with a male chicken, a male swine, and a female bovine. He also found cocoa beans, a pile of wheat, and a single sugar cane inside of the fridge. They were all tested, and again to be found with no abnormalities. All three were stored in containers in site 15. The 3 plants were planted, and appear to grow like normal plants. SCP-XXXX-03 and SCP-XXXX-04 have not died in this ██ year period. It appears the seventh setting reverts all ingredients to their natural state
