Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXXs are to be kept in a room that is above 12.7°C with lights that emit heat and UV rays. SCP-XXXXs' life cycles are to be monitored every three days to prevent unscheduled expirations1. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1s are to be retrieved by biological containment specialists and then kept in a separate room from SCP-XXXXs. The specimen will then be examined to see if they qualify as a SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX-2 and put in their respective cells. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1s that are substantially healthy and docile are to be detained in Block-2B for interview testing, and to be referred to as SCP-XXXX-2s. After the removal of SCP-XXXX-1/2 a cleaning crew must remove 99% of the deceased SCP-XXXX's seeds to control the population of SCP-XXXXs and their byproducts. Removed seeds should be incinerated within 24 hours to prevent growths of SCP-XXXXs appearing outside of containment.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a group of stationary entities (numbering currently at 36 23) that resemble white Cucurbitis elixis with vines coiled around them, SCP-XXXXs do not exhibit any anomalies until approached. Once something gets within 93cm of a SCP-XXXX, close enough to touch its foliage, its vines will lash out sporadically and incur lacerations on anything within its radius. Therefore there must always be a 93cm circumference indicator around SCP-XXXXs for the safety of onsite staff.

Seeds of SCP-XXXXs have a 72% germination rate in minimal conditions. In optimal environment conditions its germination rate increases to 92%; budding occurs within less than 48 hours. SCP-XXXXs were classified as Safe since they are not sentient however after instances of SCP-XXXX-1s appeared they're now classified as Euclid.

SCP-XXXX-1: When the life cycle of a SCP-XXXX ends (Approximately 60-92 days) an SCP-XXXX-1 will emerge from SCP-XXXX. The specimens' appearances are like Homo sapiens, and on average they reach a height of 180cm. In place of a face they have a crevice with rows of premolar teeth. Both SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2s' crevices do not open and close, instead they pulsate. The skin tissue around the crevice is flaky despite test showing that it's healthy. DNA test also show that their skin, organ, and muscle tissue are identical to humans'.

Many of these specimen are severely crippled, as they are afflicted by scoliosis, scleroderma, myotubular myopathy, and signs of acute pulmonary edema. Along with their physical diseases they also have a multitude of mental disorders making them hostile and unpredictable. Thus, severely disabled instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are used for tissue and organ testing and organ harvesting, then euthanized via lethal injection.

SCP-XXXX-2: SCP-XXXX-2s are the more healthy variants of SCP-XXXX-1s and are shorter averaging at 144.8cm. SCP-XXXX-2s are less visually deformed than their counterparts. The specimen are also significantly more docile thus they can be handled safely by level 2 personnel. There are currently only 2 SCP-XXXX-2s remaining (2J and 2M). The others expired due to respiratory failure or poor handling by staff2. SCP-XXXX-1/2s do not have identifiable visual sensory organs, but test showed visual awareness. Further testing revealed that they cannot distinguish certain colors, suggesting that they have a limited color spectrum.

SCP-XXXX-2s cannot communicate vocally so during interviews they are supplied with one red button and one blue button. Over the years the research team has suggested that specimen with an I.Q. over 35 should be taught how to write in order to make interviews more informative. As of now only three specimen have passed this threshold and have been taught successfully, SCP-XXXX-2A, SCP-XXXX-2E, and SCP-XXXX-2J. It is encouraged that specimen that cooperate with staff should be given an appropriate “treat” that will not make the cleaning staffs' job harder3.

Photo of Site-3SSA, █████████, Pennsylvania, where SCP-XXXX was found by Agent Myers

Origins: In █/██/1998, reports of multiple children being admitted into hospitals with abnormal gashes across their bodies made local district news. The parents of the children all proclaimed the injuries occurred near the town park. This caught the attention of the foundation as a possible anomaly. A field Agent was dispatched to █████████, Pennsylvania, to investigate the Site where the incidents happened. Upon reaching the park, field Agent Myers spotted an abandoned factory behind the playground. He went inside the building to further investigate. Agent Myers distinctly remembers the pungent smell of rotting fruit when he entered Site-2SSA, and followed the smell to the cellar of the building where a patch of over 300 SCP-XXXXs were found. Twenty SCP-XXXXs had already expired in Site-1SSA. After learning of the existence of SCP-XXXX-1s a group of containment specialist, escorted by a tactical squad, were dispatched to subjugate and contain instances SCP-XXXX-1s that could still be in the █████████ area.

The cellar, Site-1SSA, appears ten times more deteriorated than the rest of the building. Researchers suspect the cellar to be an anomaly in itself, however after being monitored for over 9 years the room showed no such properties. Some scientists are still skeptical and have requested for on going surveillance and testing of Site-1SSA. After the creation of Article-Mirror_Image_Inquiry further monitoring of the Site has been granted.

  • It is still unknown why instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are created deformed. Adjustments to improve the life cycle of SCP-XXXXs have been inconclusive.
  • It is hypothesized that SCP-XXXX-2s are docile because of cognitive impairment.
  • The intended lifespan of SCP-XXXXs' byproducts are unclear since they all decline prematurely.
  • Interviews deemed unnecessary were not recorded in this document.
