Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a bolted-down safe with walls no less than 15 centimeters thick made of a steel alloy composed of 18% tungsten. A security camera must be trained on this safe at all times. The safe containing SCP-XXXX must be stored in a room that is highly accessible to security personnel. Non-security personnel working in the facility containing SCP-XXXX are required to carry handguns at all times and must complete a basic firearm training course.

In the event of an incursion, the facility containing SCP-XXXX is to initiate lockdown procedure Steinbeck-16 until all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are terminated. A response team will be deployed to the facility to assist local security personnel. Terminated instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be incinerated following DNA sampling.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a metallic lever key 4 centimeters in length made primarily of palladium and containing other trace elements including platinum, gold, and nickel. Inscribed upon the shaft of the key are eleven symbols of unknown meaning. Affixed within the bow of the key is a spherical cut emerald 1 centimeter in diameter. Extensive chemical and spectral analysis of the key has shown no unusual elements and the key has no inherent anomalous properties.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous nature manifests in the form of up to eleven human individuals, referred to collectively as SCP-XXXX-1. These individuals are created through an unknown mechanism at a variable rate, with a mean period of four weeks between events. The shortest and longest recorded period between events are 17 minutes and 58 days, respectively. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 consistently appear at a variable range (Maximum range unknown) outside of wherever SCP-XXXX is being stored in. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will attempt to infiltrate the facility, remove SCP-XXXX from its containment, and escape. Fingerprint and DNA testing of terminated SCP-XXXX-1 individuals do not match any known records.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 vary greatly in terms of appearance and equipment, though all individuals within an instance are more or less identical with minor variations. Typically, SCP-XXXX-1 will resemble a squad of soldiers from either the past or present. These similarities are accurate both in terms of the equipment carried by SCP-XXXX-1 individuals, as well as the apparent physical and mental status and actions of the individuals themselves. This includes the tactics utilized by the instances, which has led to increased containment procedures following a successful instance of SCP-XXXX-1, of which two individuals [DATA EXPUNGED] explosives, heavily damaging the facility SCP-XXXX was being contained within at the time and resulting in the casualties of ██ personnel. SCP-XXXX was later recovered by Mobile Task Force ██████ from [REDACTED], Germany during an unrelated operation.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have an innate knowledge of the location of SCP-XXXX. Attempting to move SCP-XXXX after an incursion has begun only results in SCP-XXXX-1 immediately focusing on its new position.

Though there is no evidence that instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have knowledge of attempts made by previous instances, no two instances are identical. New instances are not significantly more successful in their attempts on average, but their unpredictability requires attention and adjustments to containment procedures as necessary.

The following is a list of noteworthy attempts made by instances of SCP-XXXX-1.

Date: ██/██/196█

Description of SCP-XXXX-1: Instance manifested in the form of three individuals wearing full-body latex suits. Individuals each carried a number of burglary-themed devices.

Result: Instance removed SCP-XXXX from its containment through the use of a handheld plasma cutter before being spotted and terminated by security personnel. (After this incursion, tungsten was used in the construction of SCP-XXXX's container to prevent a similar event from occurring.)

Date: ██/██/200█

Description of SCP-XXXX-1: Instance manifested in the form of a single, middle-aged male wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase.

Result: SCP-XXXX-1 attempted to negotiate the terms of sale of SCP-XXXX, though it would not discuss anything other than the transaction at hand. Upon refusal, SCP-XXXX-1 became verbally belligerent and was detained. SCP-XXXX-1 remained silent afterwards and experienced total organ failure three days later. Briefcase was found to contain a number of currency straps, total value 3 million USD. All banknotes lack serial numbers but appear genuine in all other regards.

Date: ██/██/200█

Description of SCP-XXXX-1: Instance manifested in the form of four Foundation security personnel.

Result: Identification presented by instance individuals did not match any known Foundation personnel. Upon discovery, SCP-XXXX-1 opened fire on facility personnel, resulting in the termination of SCP-XXXX-1 and three Foundation casualties.

Date: ██/██/201█

Description of SCP-XXXX-1: Instance manifested in the form of eight Roman legionaries.

Result: SCP-XXXX-1 breached preliminary facility security and was terminated 17 minutes later by another instance of SCP-XXXX-1.

Date: ██/██/201█

Description of SCP-XXXX-1: Instance manifested in the form of [DATA EXPUNGED].

Result: SCP-XXXX-1 [DATA EXPUNGED]. The substance was removed, despite its corrosive properties, and the facility eventually resumed standard operating status.
