Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Apollyon

Special Containment Procedures: Containment is not possible at this time.

Remedial measures in place for other Type Green entities are considered insufficient for preventing SCP-XXXX from triggering or causing a ZK-Class Reality Failure Event.

Securing SCP-343 and deploying an array of Scranton Reality Anchors around him is considered priority one upon the arrival of SCP-XXXX to Earth. Widespread deployment of Scranton Reality Anchors at all Foundation sites is priority two. Widespread deployment of Scranton Reality Anchors throughout major population centers worldwide is priority three. Having these resources available for prompt deployment is priority four.

In the case all remedial measures fail to prevent SCP-XXXX from initiating an ZK-Class Reality Failure Event, O5 approval is to be sought to proceed with activation of SCP-1968 as soon as possible.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a Type Green entity of uncertain nature with the capability and apparent intent to trigger or directly cause an ZK-Class Reality Failure Event. Prior to October 6th, 2018, all knowledge of SCP-XXXX had been discovered through various writings by authors throughout history who all claimed to be documenting instances of SCP-XXXX-1.

Each instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is a nightmare afflicting a single individual that is believed to describe the intent and abilities of SCP-XXXX.

Common details for each instance of SCP-XXXX-1 include the dream occurring at some location very familiar to the dreamer, meteor showers, Aurora, and anomalously powerful dry thunderstorms, culminating with the dreamer seeing a creator deity familiar (though not necessarily one they hold faith in) to them killed by the storms, whereupon the dream always immediately ends.

Individuals afflicted by SCP-XXXX-1 never display further anomalous behaviour after the instance, though some did display an understandable mild obsession with discovering the meaning of the dream or distress at the intensity of the dream.

Despite some ambiguity caused by the methods of dating historical documents, it is believed that each of these nightmares occurred about 28 years apart and have been occurring regularly as such for at least 4500 years. Using the four most recent instances (note:Occurring in 1935, 1963, 1990, and 2018), which are substantially better documented than most of the historical accounts, the period has been more precisely calculated to 27.82 years.

This more precise periodicity correlates to the orbital period of S0-82, a star orbiting Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. When examined by the Hubble Space Telescope in 2007, the star was discovered to be fluctuating in apparent magnitude by as much as 50% with no currently known reason why. We have not yet been able to translate or decode the pattern in this fluctuation. No other link between instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and the star has been discovered.

In 624 BC, Greek historian ██████ gave the earliest surviving firsthand account of SCP-XXXX-1, and in later writings included his interpretation of SCP-XXXX itself based off of previous accounts, records of which only exist as references in ██████’s writing but are inferred as being as old as 2500 BC based on the individuals these accounts are attributed to.

Addendum SCP-XXXX-01: On the morning of October 6th 2018, Dr N███████ Hawthorne, a Foundation researcher in ████, ██████ studying the region for possible anomalies, contacted a Foundation Staff Therapist concerning a potentially anomalous nightmare they had suffered. This nightmare was quickly identified as the SCP-XXXX-1 instance that was expected to occur that week. We were able to bring them in for an interview within hours of the nightmare occuring3. Concurrent with this Instance of SCP-XXXX-1 was a brief lull in the fluxuations of S0-82, before a new pattern in the fluxuations began.
