SCP-XXXX(1)

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: The two objects known as SCP-XXXX(1) and SCP-XXXX(2) are to be held in a standard containment cell within Site- ██. No windows are necessary, in addition the living subject does not require food or water. The cell should be monitored at all times, and any person who appears in the cell should be logged, documented, and a guard should enter the cell and escort the person to medical, where a standard memory wipe/ relocation procedure will occur. Only those with special assignment may access the cell, and must be able to hold a conversation with a guard on posted duty before entering.

Description: SCP-XXXX(1) is a black stone structure in the shape similar to Stone Henge’s archways, and is visually similar to obsidian. SCP-XXXX(2) is a Stone man made out of a similar material, and sits beside the structure. The man has no features beyond strange symbolic carvings all over his body. SCP-XXXX(2) does not require food, sleep or any other form of care, and also seems incapable of movement. SCP-XXXX was discovered when reports of people walking into the forest in a trance and never returning surfaced in the town of █████████. The Foundation decided to do a routine investigation and followed one of the entranced people to SCP-XXXX. Interviews with people in the town proved unfruitful as they had no knowledge of the structure, and those who were intercepted in a trance, could only be awakened when removed from the area, having no memory of how they got where they were.

The main anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX(1) are as follows: Any object that passes through the archway disappears, indicating a portal of some kind. In addition, every so often, with no pattern in terms of time period, people will show up near the portal out of thin air or make their way to the portal in a trance if they are close by. The people who appear out of thin air, are from various countries and in a trance for the first 30 seconds they appear in the cell returning to normal afterword. They are very confused when seeing the structure and the containment cell. Those that approach the cell in a trance will walk through the portal unless physically stopped.

It has been noted that every person who is drawn to the portal, has recounted being "lost" in some way, whether taking a wrong turn on a hike, or being lost at sea, they all recall finding a "path" and everything dissolving into where they appeared, following it with an intense desire to go "home". Similar feelings of home-sickness have been recounted in anyone who approaches the portal in a trance.

Tests have been conducted on SCP-XXXX(1) and it has been noted that the other side of the portal always leads to the same place, a large temple that looks out to a land of grass and ruins. Documentation of this other world has been incredibly difficult as contact is always lost with those on the other side after an hour in our world has passed despite the quality of equipment sent over and instructions given. It appears that the stronger mentally the candidate, the more likely the full hour is reached before communication is lost, as some D-Class personal have only lasted a few minutes before communication is lost.

It has been discovered through these tests that the portal is not two ways (See: Test A - 1/11/2████). All personnel who have entered the world the portal leads too have noted feelings of Nostalgia, Déjà vu, and Homesickness, often describing it as a “Strange familiarity” with everything they see, often saying they feel like they “Remember” certain experiences and places while constantly being confused as they have obviously never been there. Other feelings noted are that they often feel like everything beyond the temple is constantly “Decaying” and they have lost something while also feeling sad, for no discernable reason.

SCP-XXXX(2)'s properties are the ability to speak any language, and interacting verbally with anyone who attempts to enter the portal, warning them. SCP-XXXX(2) can be communicated with, and as such interviews are allowed of the subject, however SCP-XXXX(2) often speaks in riddles or complete nonsense when asked specific questions about the other side of the portal.

Addendum: 3/11/2███ Incident XXXX-1 has caused an additional precaution added to the containment of SCP-XXXX, as Dr.████████ attempted to enter the cell in a constant trance, constantly murmuring about wanting to escape and wanting to go ‘home’, the guard on duty noted that Dr.████████ could not hold a conversation, and only seemed to awake from his trans after being forcefully escorted to medical. This development should be further studied as Dr.████████ had fully capability to make his way through the facility using his access card, and in addition was not even assigned to SCP-XXXX, so had no exposure to it proving exposure is not necessary. It is unclear if this is the same type of affect that the people appearing in front of the portal experience, or not.

Incident XXXX-1: Dr.████████ recounted doing his normal routine on SCP- ████ and then everything went black. Cameras within Site-██ noting him making his way through the facility towards SCP-XXXX, until reaching the guard at the door, and not answering his question of “Hey Dr. how are things?’ instead murmuring. Security Officer Daniels immediately took action to arrest Dr.████████ and carried him to medical with little resistance, where he recovered, and immediately transferred to another site.

Interviewed: [Dr.████████]

Interviewer: [Dr. W███████]

Foreword: [After Incident XXXX-1]

<Begin Log, [10:30am]>

Dr.W███████: So Dr.████████ what was going through your mind during your attempt to access SCP-XXXX?

Dr.████████: I've already told you, I was doing my rounds at SCP-████ and then I was in medical, there's nothing else

Dr.W███████: Did you have any feelings? surely the experience must hold some memory as you were able to remember the building layout and codes for several security checkpoints
Dr.████████: Yes, I had, and still have a feeling of being Homesick, but that's usually normal for me, working all the way out here. I only see my family on the Holidays.
Dr.W███████: It has been decided that you will be transferred to Site -██ so this is avoided in the future and monitored over the next few days. If anything strange arises we expect you to immediately report it. Thank you for your time.
<End Log, [10:50am]>

Closing Statement: Dr.███████ was escorted by security to his quarters where he was instructed to pack.

Test A - 1/11/2████

Subject: D-Class Personnel Janet Hardin
Procedure: Janet Hardin entered the portal at 11:30am, with standard radio communication equipment. Instructed to enter and leave
Results: Janet Hardin entered the Portal and was able to transmit what the temple looked like and what was inside it, upon attempted return she became anxious as it proved to be impossible, after 10 minutes of panicking contact was lost.
Analysis: the portal leads to a "Temple" according to Janet's description it is also made out of normal stone. There seems to be another SCP-XXXX(2) on the other side sitting above the portal, in a throne carving, yet despite attempted contact with this SCP-XXXX(2) does not respond. Noted that at first Janet said she felt "At home", and she kept stating at how weird it was that everything seemed to be a "Memory" and having constant Déjà vu.

Test B - 2/11/2████

Subject: D-Class Personnel Tom Hardy
Procedure: Tom Hardy entered the portal at 1:10pm, with standard radio communication equipment. Instructed to explore beyond the temple. Not informed on it being one way.
Results: Tom Hardy upon entrance, immediately noted a Man waiting for him beyond the temple, upon attempting to go meet the man and leave the temple the SCP-XXXX(2) shouted "Do not leave the temple if you value your life", Tom was instructed to ignore this warning, and immediately all contact was lost.
Analysis: It seems that there are living things in this world and SCP-XXXX(2) was warning us of them, what they are is unclear. Once again the subject repeatedly noted feelings of "Nostalgia" and a feeling of "Homesickness" while also noting upon initial observation that everything felt "Forgotten" and "Decaying".

Test C - 2/11/2████

Subject: D-Class Personnel Sam Healy
Procedure: Sam Healy entered the portal at 5:00pm, with standard radio communication equipment. Instructed to explore beyond the temple, unless he detects signs of life. In addition to look for both Tom and Janet and what happened to them.
Results: Sam Healy last one hour within this world before communication was lost, sufficient study of the world indicates a grass plains area covered in various ruins within the immediate vicinity of the temple. Both Janet's and Tom's radio equipment were found immediately after exciting the temple. Sam constantly advocated his discomfort with this world, and how it made his skin crawl, while also feeling all to similar. One hour later all contact was lost. However after 30 minutes of cut communication a transmission from Sam was received, as follows.. "Oh God why…don't…. don't send anyone else…. it's not…..THERE'S A REASON WHY WE LEFT….."
Analysis: It is unclear what is so strange about this world and no indication of where anyone disappears too once inside the world, this is also the first time someone has managed to contact us after we've lost communication, yet the ambiguous message does not help our understanding at all. It appears that communication is always lost and as of this moment an hour is the longest we have maintained contact. Once again Sam has noted feelings of Homesickness, Déjà vu, feelings of loss and having little flashes of memory within this world.

Interview Log with SCP-XXXX(2)

Interviewed: [SCP-XXXX(2)]

Interviewer: [Dr. W███████]

Foreword: Several agents tried to forcefully escort SCP-XXXX(2) to a interview room but they were unable to move him, as such the interview took place within the Containment Cell. Full video of the interview is available through SCP-XXXX's surveillance tapes.

<Begin Log, [1:00pm]>

Dr.W███████: Greeting's SCP-XXXX, I am Dr.W████████,I would like to ask you some questions, would that be ok?

SCP-XXXX(2) The Answer's you seek may not be the ones you want. Yet I shall provide.

Dr.W███████: Great.. could you tell me where this portal leads and why? We are trying to understand its purpose in our world and why people are drawn to it.
SCP-XXXX(2) The portal is a place for the lost, a memory that should be long forgotten, a shard of the past that those who wish for home find. Those drawn to it only seek what they always have, an escape.
Dr.W███████: Why do you talk in riddles? It makes it very hard to understand what you are trying to say.
<End Log, [10:50am]>

Closing Statement: Analysis team, please go over this interview and extrapolate any information you think relevant. We need to understand as mush as possible, and . Also I'm recommending we never mention the man we saw to SCP-XXXX(2) again, its better we get what information we can out of him then none at all.
