SCP-XXXX shortly after acquisition.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained at Site-73's low-threat anomalies wing in a soundproof .5x.5x.5 meter steel box. No audio playback devices are to be brought within 5 meters of SCP-XXXX at any given time. Access to SCP-XXXX must be permitted by staff of clearance Level 3. Any tests regarding SCP-XXXX are to be carried out in a soundproof room with an armed guard on site. Any subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX are to be immediately restrained and held for questioning.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a cognitohazard manifesting as a cassette tape of the song "Mr.Sandman" by The Chordettes. The Anomalous Properties of SCP-XXXX are not visible until a human individual listens to the recording. Immediately upon listening to SCP-XXXX, subjects report dizziness, blurring of vision, and uncontrollable muscle relaxation. After listening to the recording in full, subjects enter an uninterruptible sleep. All dreams share 2 recurring entities, an idealized significant other, and a man in a black trench coat, dubbed SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 respectively. SCP-XXXX induced dreams will have extreme lucidity and subjects will often feel that they have a personal connection to entities within, especially SCP-XXXX-1. untrained subjects will immediately succumb to the effects of SCP-XXXX, subjects trained to resist auditory cognitohazardous materials may resist the effects for longer and experience increasingly severe anomalous effects (See Testing Log XXXX-A); subjects sleep for exactly 8 hours and during this time show a 10-50% increase in brain activity.

Approximately 30% of subjects awake without incident reporting a pleasant dream. Subjects who experience this become more optimistic, more energetic, and express a desire to "go back to the dream". 70% however experience a drastically varying effect upon waking including: addition or removal of mental illnesses, extreme convulsion to access SCP-XXXX again, Hysteria, permanent loss of consciousness, and in rare cases, subjects expire. How SCP-XXXX determines the administration of which effect is still unknown, further experimentation required. During post test interviews, all subjects report the presence of SCP-XXXX-2, observing from a distance. In few cases subjects reported SCP-XXXX-2 moving towards them. Subjects who are deemed hysterical or suffer from severe after effects of SCP-XXXX are to be either terminated or given Class B sedatives at staff discretion. Individuals who are deemed in good health may be given Class C amnestics at staff discretion.

Addendum XXXX-1: SCP-XXXX will only affect humans subjects, it is hypothesized that SCP-XXXX contains a conscious entity within it and will pick subjects rather than affect anyone within its range. Further investigation required. Any new tests or attempts to make contact are to be cleared by Level 3 staff first. Any tests involving non D-Class personal must be cleared with Level 4 staff first due to the unpredictable consequences of SCP-XXXX.

Addendum XXXX-2: After Incident XXXX-1 any victims of SCP-XXXX are to be escorted between chambers by 2 or more armed guards, no non D-Class personal is authorized to use SCP-XXXX as of this time. Any personal attempting to gain unauthorized access to SCP-XXXX are to be terminated on sight.
