Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: There is to be, at all times, a secure perimeter established around a five-mile radius outward from the site where the train car is located. Any contact with the site is strictly prohibited within two miles to those employed by the Foundation to secure the area. The five mile radius, secured by no less than fifty (50) armed security units at all times, is considered (under the order of the President of the United States, in accordance with Executive Order 12033.1 made by Jimmy Carter in 1978)1 to be under the jurisdiction of the Foundation. Any individuals approaching the perimeter will be questioned, and any individuals caught attempting to enter the perimeter will be detained and placed under the custody of the Foundation's security forces. Engagement with SCP-XXXX is strictly prohibited to all individuals, including the public, Foundation security personnel, and maintenance workers.

Description: An abandoned train car, whose existence was first recorded by the Foundation in 19782 in Northern Kansas, has caused the unexplainable disappearance of over 200 individuals. Most disappearances associated with SCP-XXXX were recorded before the Foundation's takeover of the area in 1978. The precise nature of these disappearances is unknown, but speculations have been made. At the site can be found an overgrown area of grass and a short segment of disconnected railroad tracks. The route which these tracks follows (or once followed) is unknown; all attempts to trace the origin of the tracks have been unsuccessful. In 1986, a team of Foundation researchers began a search of the surrounding area for the location where the tracks reconnected with their original route. The search lasted for three weeks, and no such point was found; no train tracks have since been found within a 63 mile radius of SCP-XXXX.

The nature of the SCP-XXXX's existence is unclear, as varying circumstances have arisen upon persons visiting the site where it is located. Records of interactions with SCP-XXXX have shown that only males ages 21-45 are reported missing immediately after visiting the site. In 1983 alone, over 150 individuals approached the site with the hope of interacting with the so called "train car man." The name was given to a male human being that many individuals who have been within at least 100 yards of SCP-XXXX claim to have seen. Individuals who claim to have seen him report that he is tall in stature, Caucasian, around 25 in age, and wearing a 1940s era military field uniform. Those who have returned from the site after visiting claim that the man strongly urged them to approach the car, speaking with a southern drawl, warning of "krauts."3 Such an interaction was recorded on video in 1984 by ████ ███████, but the videotape disappeared shortly afterwards under mysterious circumstances. A written transcript has been provided below:

Man: The krauts are comin'! Get in here, we can hide in this car!

████ ███████: I can't. I have to get back.

Man: Back where? Get in here if you wanna live!

(Following this interaction, ████ ███████ subsequently left the area and shared footage of the event with two friends who claim to have refused to follow ████ ███████ to the location of SCP-XXXX.)

Of the approximately 200 individuals who have disappeared after visiting the site, 173 have been identified in World War II fatality records. The first rediscovery of a documented missing person in relation to SCP-XXXX was discovered 13 months following his disappearance by his mother in Southeastern Oklahoma on December 11th, 1969. Having searched all public records for her son's whereabouts, Mrs. ████ ████████ came upon a list of recorded KIA fatalities during World War II, and discovered her son's name and photograph in a record that claimed he died hiding from German soldiers in a train yard in 1943. Since then, 172 more discoveries have been made in the same record, and efforts continue in the search for more of these records of documented missing persons in relation to SCP-XXXX.
