SCP-XXXX circled by instance of SCP-XXXX-1.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the Foundation's inability to effectively contain SCP-XXXX, all efforts are to be focused on suppressing public awareness of SCP-XXXX, and the tracking and detainment of suspected SCP-XXXX-1 instances.

All active online astronomy forums are to be monitored by a Foundation-operated web analysis bot, which is to operate 24/7 and be checked for defects on a weekly basis. Any posts on these forums suggesting knowledge of SCP-XXXX are automatically flagged and removed. The subject's IP address will be logged and agents embedded in local law enforcement are to be dispatched for the detainment, and questioning of the subject. If the subject is confirmed to be an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, Class-B Amnestics are to be administered, and the instance must be admitted to a Foundation-monitored mental health facility.

Mobile Task Force Zeta-3 ("Stargazers") are to monitor major space agencies (e.g. NASA, ESA, CSA, etc) for signs of SCP-XXXX-1 activity to prevent information relating to SCP-XXXX being released to the public. Should Zeta-3 fail in their duties, Mobile Task Force Gamma-5 ("Red Herrings") will conduct a mass disinformation campaign.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an extraterrestrial object located ██ light years from Earth. The object is only able to be perceived by individuals with a certain combination of mental traits. Rough estimates have determined that these individuals make up approximately █% of the human population.

Upon perception of SCP-XXXX, the subject is classified as an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.1 Subject will begin obsessing over SCP-XXXX, devoting several hours of their daily routines to discussing the object in person or on the internet, often befriending fellow SCP-XXXX-1 instances they find.

Subjects seem to possess knowledge of SCP-XXXX's exact location at all times, and will observe it using a telescope, inviting other individuals to attempt perception of SCP-XXXX, occasionally resulting in the creation of a new SCP-XXXX-1 instance if the individual held the required mental traits. If a telescope is unavailable to them, subject will stare in SCP-XXXX's direction, though criminal activity in order to better observe SCP-XXXX has been documented2 (see Addendum XXXX-A). Testimony of several SCP-XXXX-1 instances, as well as numerous Foundation personnel has confirmed that SCP-XXXX appears to be an enormous biological entity of indeterminate shape, as its physical appearance tends to vary between individual viewings.3 SCP-XXXX does not resemble any known terrestrial species.

Large groups of SCP-XXXX-1 instances tend to form into religious congregations dedicated to the observation and worship of SCP-XXXX. Attempts to proselytize members of the general public are usually ignored or treated as a joke. Infiltration of SCP-XXXX-1 congregations have revealed a system of liturgical worship similar to that of [DATA EXPUNGED].

Addendum XXXX-A: SCP-XXXX was discovered when an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 was apprehended after breaking into NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. Subject admitted he intended to use the Hubble Telescope to obtain a clear image of SCP-XXXX, though was unable to access the system due to lack of training or security clearance. Agent ███████ detained the subject and interrogated him, contacting the Foundation after being shown a photo of SCP-XXXX taken through a personal telescope.4

Update: On 03/11/2017 field agents received a report that a previously amnesticized SCP-XXXX-1 instance wrote an extensive message using █████ on a cell wall in the mental health facility he was admitted to. The message has been deciphered, transcribed, and can be seen below.

To: The SCP Foundation
From: The one you call "SCP-XXXX"

I understand your fear, and I forgive you.

Note: Research into the potential telepathic properties of the object is underway. Given the breach of informational security in this message, the theory that SCP-XXXX is omniscient cannot be ruled out at this time. -Dr. ██████
