SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secure storage locker. No experimentation is allowed at this time without written approval of the site director. Should SCP-XXXX be removed from the locker for any purpose, direct contact with skin is to be strictly avoided; level C hazmat suits should be worn at all times while handling.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 3.7 kg stone of indeterminate mineral composition. The stone is weathered, and linear scratches in an angular pattern are visible on one of the flat surfaces.

If a live human comes in direct contact with SCP-XXXX, the person and any worn or held objects (other than SCP-XXXX) will disappear, and another human, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, will immediately appear within 5m of SCP-XXXX. All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have shown extreme fear and panic in the presence of other humans. No instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have ever been identifiable in any government records. No trace of the person originally touching SCP-XXXX can be found.

Experiment Log XXXX-a:

Setup: Male class D subject fitted with heavy work gloves and instructed to touch SCP-XXXX.

Subject Results: No changes observed after 5 minutes of touching SCP-XXXX. Subject given a variety of gloves and cloths to use and instructed to repeat the experiment. No changes observed after 5 minutes of testing with each material. Finally, subject instructed to touch SCP-XXXX with his bare hands. Subject disappeared after touching SCP-XXXX for 8 seconds.

SCP-XXXX-1: A middle aged man in peasant clothes appeared and, after a moment of confusion, began yelling in what was later determined to be Cantonese. SCP-XXXX-1a ran to the door of the experiment room when approached and attempted to escape. After a few moments of struggle, four guards and Dr. Green were able to subdue him, administer sedatives, and transport him to a holding cell. SCP-XXXX-1a refused to cooperate and continued to panic in the presence of any other people. After 6 days of efforts to communicate, including conscious sedation and mediation through a translator, SCP-XXXX-1a was found dead in his holding cell, apparently through self-inflicted asphyxiation.

Notes: Research team members are to stay in the observation room during subsequent tests. All future instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be monitored by camera when no researchers or guards are present.

Experiment Log XXXX-b:

Setup: Female class D subject instructed to hold SCP-XXXX. Subject is fitted with a standard radio transceiver, a GPS tracking device and a satellite communicator.

Subject Results: Subject and equipment disappeared after holding SCP-XXXX for 26 seconds. All signals from tracking equipment ceased. SCP-XXXX dropped to the floor.

SCP-XXXX-1: A Caucasian male appeared in an unknown military uniform. Upon seeing the guards and researchers in the room, he screamed, drew a sidearm, and opened fire. The standard lockdown procedure was initiated. SCP-XXXX-1b sustained injuries, but killed all three guards in the experiment room. Two members of the responding containment team were injured when he pulled the pin on a fragmentation grenade moments before being subdued, killing himself in the ensuing blast. Identification found on the remains suggested the man was a United States Army Specialist by the name of Robert Cowley. The U.S. Army has no record of Mr. Cowley. The recovered sidearm does not match any known manufacturers.

Notes: We're not going to do any more of these unless we get a proper containment team in place to deal with whoever shows up. —Dr. Green

Experiment Log XXXX-c:

Setup: Male class D subject instructed to quickly tap SCP-XXXX. Subject is fitted with tracking devices and tethered to the floor with a climbing harness and four 1000-kg test ropes.

Subject results: Subject tapped SCP-XXXX 4 times without incident. On the 5th tap, subject, tracking equipment, and climbing harness disappeared instantly upon contact with SCP-XXXX. The tethers and clips dropped to the floor. All signals from tracking equipment ceased.

SCP-XXXX-1: An adult female in her 20s appeared, holding a kitchen knife and what was later determined to be half of a potato. SCP-XXXX-1c backed herself into a corner, sobbing and uncontrollably shaking. She responded to any attempts to approach her by screaming and waving her knife. After several failed attempts to coax her away from the corner, the containment team moved in to subdue her. SCP-XXXX-1c thrust the knife into her carotid artery and bled out before the medical team could arrive. SCP-XXXX-1c bore no identifying information.

Experiment Log XXXX-d:

Setup: Male class D subject instructed to touch SCP-XXXX. Subject is fitted with tracking devices and [REDACTED]. All other personnel were cleared from the test room.

Subject results: Subject and equipment disappeared after touching SCP-XXXX for 12 seconds. All signals from tracking equipment ceased.

SCP-XXXX-1: An elderly Filipino man in business attire appeared. SCP-XXXX-1d appeared confused and distressed, calling out for help and trying to open the door to the experiment room, but did not show signs of panic or aggression. In the minutes it took to find an appropriate translator, SCP-XXXX-1d turned from the door, surveyed his surroundings, and picked up SCP-XXXX to examine it closely. SCP-XXXX-1d held SCP-XXXX for 3 minutes and 26 seconds before the translator arrived and spoke through the speaker system. Upon hearing the translator, SCP-XXXX-1d dropped SCP-XXXX, crouched, and looked up toward the speakers.

Audio Transcript XXXX-1d-A01

Translator: [In Tagalog] Good afternoon, sir. I apologize for the circumstances, but I assure you that you are in no danger. May I have your name, please?
SCP-XXXX-1d: [yells, in Tagalog] What! What are you!?
Translator: Again, sir, I apologize for the circumstances. I am only trying to—
SCP-XXXX-1d: [screams and covers his ears]
Translator: Please sir, I am only trying to help.
SCP-XXXX-1d: [screams louder, picks up SCP-XXXX and throws it at one of the speakers in the experiment room]
Dr. Green: Okay, that's not going to work for me. Send them in.

SCP-XXXX-1d was subdued, sedated, and given a full medical examination. Pulse, blood pressure and blood chemistry are consistent with a healthy individual of his apparent age. PET scans were consistent with a heavily sedated adult. No external anatomical differences from a normal human being were found. A cranial MRI revealed [REDACTED]. This appears to be a natural part of his anatomy. DNA tests show no appreciable differences between SCP-XXXX-1d and other humans.

  • SCP-XXXX-1d has since been repeatedly administered class B amnesiacs and presented with live people of varying age, gender, and background. All induce the same panic reaction.
  • When SCP-XXXX-1d is shown still photos or recorded video of people, he reacts with intense fear and disgust, but does not panic.
  • SCP-XXXX-1d has no adverse reaction when shown himself in a mirror, or when presented with still pictures, video footage, or audio recordings of himself.
  • He appears to have a normal reaction to domestic canines and felines. In several instances he has seemed to be comforted by their presence, but they do not diminish his reaction in the presence of other people.

SCP-XXXX-1d is currently being kept under conscious sedation, pending further questioning. As of 2013-08-██, SCP-XXXX-1d has fallen into a coma. His life signs are stable, but all attempts to revive him have failed. Subsequent MRI and PET scans have shown [REDACTED].

Experiment Log XXXX-e:

Setup: A network-connected laptop was placed at a desk in the experiment room, with a chat window open and connected to a station in the observation room. In addition, radiation sensors, infrared cameras, and several antennae tuned to varying electromagnetic frequencies were placed to monitor any activity in the room. A male class D subject was connected to an electrocardiogram and instructed to touch SCP-XXXX. All other personnel were cleared from the room.

Subject Results: The subject disappeared after 5 seconds. No abnormal readings from the ECG or any other equipment were recorded.

SCP-XXXX-1: A man of unknown Latin descent appeared. After his initial shock and confusion, SCP-XXXX-1e attempted to leave the room, calling for help in English and then in Portuguese. He pulled a cell phone from his pocket, which did not appear to receive any signal. SCP-XXXX-1e then examined the laptop and sat in front of it.
