Description: SCP-XXXX is a neurological contagion transmitted through epidermal contact. The germ afflicts only a single host at any given time, departing from the body of its previous host immediately upon transmission to a new one. The first confirmed host was denoted SCP-XXXX-A, and all successive hosts are denoted similarly with ascending letter suffixes. Due to the pathogen’s presumed 100% lethality rate (as demonstrated in SCP:/XXXX/incidents/001.log), SCP-XXXX was previously classified as Keter, but has been downgraded due to compliant behavior of current host SCP-XXXX-B, who was originally an MTF Psi-7 guard.

Symptoms upon infection include:

• Nervous tics
• Widening of eyes
• Panic attacks
• Tingling sensations in the fingers, nose, or ears
• Delusions of grandeur
• Acquisition of memories from lifetimes of previous hosts

Symptoms upon return to good health include:

• Instantaneous death

MTF Psi-7 apprehended SCP-XXXX-A (adult human male host) outside EUITLA-Site-77 outer perimeter at 01:35. SCP-XXXX-A was detained at checkpoint 4, and MTF contacted Dr. Anderson to report detainee’s “Erratic behavior” at 02:15. MTF received order from Dr. Regal (calling via satellite phone from [DATA EXPUNGED]) to move detainee to containment wing at 03:40.

Upon detainee’s arrival at containment wing at 03:50, security audio recording captured incident transcribed in SCP:/XXXX/audio/001.log.

Alerted of the unstable situation and uncontained anomaly, backup crews to took necessary hazmat precautions in containing the former MTF Psi-7 guard, now SCP-XXXX-B, host of SCP-XXXX. The uninhabited body of former host SCP-XXXX-A was incinerated at 11:00 following autopsy at 09:15, which revealed no signs of infection or otherwise ill health aside from two hangnails and gout.

Dear █████ ███████,

I write to you with news that is objectively neither good nor bad. To try to distinguish it either way would be imprudent, and I'll grant you the courtesy to judge my news as you see fit.

I am no longer my sole self. Through some strange incident, I find myself to now be one of many selves, all existing within my body, towering up from the depths of obscurity and worlds past. Your husband I am, but likewise I am also a British electrician by the name of Gregory, an exotic dancer who once called herself Starlight, and the trumpeter Davus from an ancient Roman court.

I find my mind swarmed with memories, emotions, dreams, and woes so deep that I can peer back into time like looking into a set of parallel mirrors. Reflections of my former selves enchant me, dazzle me, terrify me. The longer I stare, the more I see. Centuries, millennia, ages of celestial time so vast that they extend beyond humanity and into worlds and states of existence that I can hardly fathom, nonetheless begin to describe.

Tearing, twisting, turning through time, I scramble and stumble and spin and seeth. In a serial life without beginning, how could there be an end? Shall Death, the Damning Destroyer, now and forever elude my endlessly layered soul as it gathers, devours, captures, and hoards the minds of thousands more? These questions plague me now, and the infinitesimally small part of my consciousness that lives on as your husband yearns to hold you once more.

I fear that I may not be granted leave for Christmas next year. Do not cry for me. Savor the life that you are mercifully able to call your own. Sing to our children.

Do not fear death. Although it is veiled in shadow, it is a gift.
