Strange! Curious! Peculiar!

Item #: SCP-X

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: The property on which SCP-X manifests has been transferred to a Foundation-run third party. As the property resides within a populated subdivision, and no adverse affects of SCP-X have been identified, Agent J. Mulroney has been assigned to live within the primary residence to facilitate containment and to reduce the Foundation's public footprint. Agent Mulroney has been ordered to check in every other day with his superior officer with updated reports of SCP-X-1 transmissions. Agent Mulroney has also been instructed that SCP-X-2 should only be used in the most extreme emergency situations.

Description: SCP-X is the collective term for two anomalous circumstances that have so far limited themselves to the primary residence at 969 Beechwood Drive, Waterbury, CT. At the time of Foundation intervention, this property was owned by Doris Hayworth, 74, who, according to local records and interviews with Ms. Hayworth, had lived there alone for the past five years following the death of her husband, Calvin Hayworth.

SCP-X-1 has been designated as the phenomenon surrounding a Sony KV-32S42 television set that Ms. Hayworth has owned since 2002. Testing has shown that it is the only known device capable of receiving a particular video transmission (henceforth referred to as Channel X) when correctly connected to the coaxial output in the Beechwood property's living room. When it is hooked up correctly in other homes and buildings, every attempt to view Channel X has failed, and the set acts as expected for a television of its make and age. All other televisions tested in the Beechwood property, including those of the same model as the one owned by Ms. Hayworth, have failed to pick up the channel, even if the connections, cables, and outlets used are exactly the same. While the set is connected correctly at the Beechwood home, attempting to change the channel by using the remote control or by using the channel up and down buttons on the set itself have no effect. All other buttons, such as volume, picture settings, and power function as expected. No specific anomalous properties have been discovered in relation to the power and coaxial outlets in the home's living room.

The Foundation was alerted to the presence of SCP-X-1 on 11/13/2012 at 20:05 when Ms. Hayworth made a call directly to the office of the Director of Armed Reliquary Containment Area-02 (ARCA2). It should be noted that ARCA2 is geographically the closest Foundation installation to Ms. Hayworth's residence, and the direct line to the Director of ARCA2 is restricted to Foundation personnel with a minimum Level 4 security clearance.

Director ████████ dispatched MTF δ-3 ("More Personal Attention") immediately to the address provided, and also alerted the O5 Council that a Ripped Veil, Scenario Six situation was possibly underway. Upon arriving at Ms. Hayworth's residence twenty minutes later, MTF δ-3 secured the area and confirmed that Ms. Hayworth had not spoken to anyone else since her call to ARCA2.

While Captain █████ took Ms. Hayworth back to the living room for further investigation, MTF δ-3 Field Agent ████████ used the residence's single phone (an Emerson EM300 "Big Button Phone") to confirm Ms. Hayworth's information about her initial call. Upon dialing "1-800-SKIP-TIP", Field Agent ████████ was able to once again successfully reach the office of the Director of ARCA2. Immediate testing with other phones, including MTF agents' personal cellphones, phones located within ARCA2, and from various points across the globe established that dialing "1-800-SKIP-TIP" using phones besides Ms. Hayworth's EM300 (since designated SCP-X-2) within the Beechwood home resulted only in an automated message saying the number did not exist. Further research confirmed that the number had not been registered to any person or business at that time, and has since been registered by a Foundation-run third-party for safekeeping.

MTF δ-3 stayed at Ms. Hayworth's residence for the next five hours, collecting intel and recording initial video of Channel X which, as Ms. Hayworth attested to, was the only channel her television received. Channel X exclusively airs a half-hour television program named Strange! Curious! Peculiar! which uses a documentary format to profile various mysteries and unexplained paranormal incidents, and which appears to be created, produced and filmed entirely by an alternate version of the Foundation.

This divergent Foundation seems to rely entirely on viewer and eyewitness call-in tips to discover anomalous entities, objects, and locations, and often depicts what appears to be actual footage of MTFs at discovery sites. Often, recreations are depicted when the show claims on-site footage does not exist. So far, only three SCP objects already known to the Foundation have matched those seen on the program and two more have been contained by visiting matching locations. Because of the chance of anomalous object containment, all records of objects depicted on Strange! Curious! Peculiar! are to be investigated through the best, appropriate methods. Due to Ms. Hayworth's unique and extended knowledge of SCP-X and the universe it has revealed, and her lack of familial ties, it was decided that amnestics would not be used (as it would erase years' worth of SCP-X knowledge, of which she is the sole possessor) and she would instead be moved to on-site barracks at Site-23 and take on a role as a Class C consultant to Agent Mulroney's reports and to provide as much information as she can recall from episodes aired prior to Foundation intervention.
