Item #: SCP-####

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is to be kept under armed guard in a monitored containment chamber at site ##. SCP-####’s movements must be recorded and remotely monitored at all times by at least one level 3 research personnel. Staff are to refrain from interacting with active instances of SCP-####-2.

Description: SCP-#### is a copy of the strategy board game Risk. It consists of two parts, SCP-####-1, which resembles a typical Risk board, although in much greater detail, showing up to date national borders, along with an unknown landmass in the southern Atlantic Ocean labeled [REDACTED], and SCP-####-2, a collection of differently coloured, plastic Risk playing pieces (infantry, cavalry and artillery), currently contained in a small plastic bag. The box, dice and cards are missing. [REDACTED] has never been detected by satellite imagery, but any expedition that gets within 10km of the landmass is lost. The total number of SCP-####-2 instances is currently unknown, but believed to be in the hundreds of thousands, despite the size of the container.

The anomalous nature of the object becomes apparent when SCP-####-1 is laid out, with instances of SCP-####-2 automatically appearing on the board and moving under their own power. How they move from the bag to the board is unknown, but assumed to be some form of teleportation. Every military power is represented on the board, including, but not limited to;
*The United States of America
*The Russian Federation
*The United Nations Peacekeeping forces
*The Taliban
*[DATA EXPUNGED]
*The Irish Republican Army
*███████ ██████████ Corp
*The SCP Foundation
*The Global Occult Coalition
*The Unusual Incidents Unit
*At least twelve unidentified factions, each with enough forces to provide a significant threat against the Foundation, located in various countries across the world, and in one instance within [REDACTED].

Each faction is associated with its own colour, and only uses SCP-####-2 instances of that colour; for example, USA forces are dark blue, whilst the UN peacekeepers are grey. Some factions have patterns as well as colours, such as the Taliban, which is represented by white figures with yellow dots. Colours and patterns rarely match those on national and organisational flags, and can be considered coincidental.

There are three types of models that make up SCP-####-2; infantry, cavalry and artillery. This is consistent with non-anomalous copies of the 1993 edition of the game. It is believed that infantry models represent a force equivalent of up to one hundred soldiers, cavalry a force of up to five hundred soldiers and artillery up to one thousand soldiers, although it is impossible to distinguish between infantry, mechanical, air and naval forces, and can sometimes indicate significantly smaller forces (an infantry model representing a single ten man Foundation field team, for example). No matter how many pieces are present in a country, they will always fit in the space allotted and the name and boarders of the country remain clearly visible.

SCP-#### has a second anomalous nature. Whenever a piece is moved from one area to another, the force it represents immediately redeploy to the new area. Deployment orders and logistical support appears to be organised retroactively, allowing the chosen force to finish its deployment as soon as its miniature has been placed down, regardless of its previous position. It is unknown if there are any limits to this ability. It is believed that many modern engagements, including [DATA EXPUNGED] were started in this manner before SCP-#### could be secured.

It is currently unknown whether SCP-#### is copying real life military deployments in real time or actively manipulating them, however the straigic nature of not only the information provided but also the ability to automatically and instantly redeploy any military unit, friendly or hostile, makes this a valuable resource that must be understood as soon as possible.

Experiment log SCP-###
Experiment 1: Moving a randomly selected piece from one area to another.
Result: Dr. S██████ moves an infantry piece from [REDACTED] to [REDACTED]. Hostilities immediately breakout between the two countries, resulting in ████ deaths and severe destabilization of the region. O5 issues a directive forbidding anyone from interacting with active instances of SCP-####-2 without O5 approval.

Experiment 2: Emptying the plastic bag of inactive SCP-####-2 instances.
Result: A D-class personnel upturned the bag, causing the pieces to fall out in a steady stream for an hour until the bag was completely empty. Investigation of the bag revealed no anomalous properties. The bag did not survive further testing.

Experiment 3: Filling a second, unrelated non-anomalous plastic bag with SCP-####-2.
Five D-class personnel spent six hours filling the plastic bag with inactive instances of SCP-####-2. Whilst the bag appeared to be full, at no point did it overflow, burst or become too heavy to hold, despite the volume of SCP-####-2 it contained.
We probably should have tried to split them into separate bags depending on which faction they belong to. It would make future experiments easier.—Dr. S██████

Experiment 4: Placing an inactive instance of SCP-####-2 onto the board.
Result: Experiment pending O5 review.

Log-##
Partial transcript of recorded movements since recovery. Access to full log requires approval from a level 4 researcher.

Date: ██-██-████-Unidentified forces 3 and 11 engage each other over [REDACTED]. Local media claims that the area was hit by a tropical storm which claimed between ██████ and ██████ civilian lives—roughly equivalent to the forces lost by both sides.

Date: ██-██-████-Foundation forces clash with forces retroactively identified as GOC whilst attempting to recover SCP-████.

Date: ██-██-████-██████████████████████████████████████████████████████ ██████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████ All agents lost.

Date: ██-██-████-A naval fleet belonging to ███████ ██████ drifts too close to the unidentified landmass labeled [REDACTED] during a routine patrol. [REDACTED] responds with overwhelming force, annihilating the fleet. No evidence of the fleet’s demise is found, and is logged by ███████ ██████ as MIA.

Date: ██-██-████-The nation of Libya splits in two, with rebel and loyalist forces engaging each other. Interestingly, rebel forces acquire a new colour scheme—red with green stars, as opposed to loyalist yellow with vertical blue stripes.

Date: ██-██-████-[DATA EXPUNGED]

Date: ██-██-████-Forces belonging to GOC are engaged by Unidentified Faction #7, driving all GOC forces out of █████████████. GOC denied any such incident occurring, but investigation by Foundation agents proved otherwise. The aggressor remains unidentified.

Date: ██-██-████-Forces belonging to ███████ ██████████ Corp move into Mongolia, before returning to [REDACTED] five hours later. No conflict was ever reported by either Mongolian authorities or ███████ ██████████ Corp, and the reason for the deployment remains unknown.
