Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a black acrylic picture frame exactly 65 cm by 95 cm. The back and sides of the frame should be a solid black colour and at least 3 cm thick. There should be no gap between the back of the frame and the wall on which SCP-XXXX is hung.

The frame should be kept in a basic 15 m by 15 m by 15 m containment cell with two surveillance cameras in the top corners of the opposite side of the cell to SCP-XXXX. A mirror system is to be set up in the centre of the room in a way that one can clearly see the reflection of SCP-XXXX. There are no be no windows or transparent doors in the containment cell.

Note: As of Incident XXXX-A, surveillance equipment is to be manned and ready to be instantly sent offline 24/7. If SCP-XXXX-1 requests to be left to rest, all surveillance cameras, including those not viewing the reflection of SCP-XXXX, but SCP-XXXX itself, must be immediately sent offline.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a large, 1950s style, gloss pop art poster measuring 60.9 cm (24 inches) by 91.4 cm (36 inches). SCP-XXXX shows no signs of damage and appears in almost mint condition. The poster's main image is surrounded by a 5 cm thick black border lined with a thin white stripe around the inside edge. The image itself depicts a young man in a blue trench coat and trilby – referred to as SCP-XXXX-1 – under a street lamp at night. On the back of the poster the phrase 'Mirror, Mirror…' has been written in blue marker pen.

When SCP-XXXX is viewed in any reflective surface, SCP-XXXX-1 appears sentient and animate (personnel should note that this effect will not work if the reflection is viewed through any kind of recording device). So long as the reflection remains at least in the viewer's peripheral vision, SCP-XXXX-1 can be seen moving and heard speaking, however the subject's voice becomes quieter the further away from a direct line of site it is.

SCP-XXXX-1 is capable of communication on a level of most human adults, being able to participate in full conversations - politely insisting on being addressed as Jim or Jimmy - and interact using complex gestures, often willing to do so. Subject is also knowledgeable on many topics however seems to believe that he exists within the early 1950s, unaware of any events, concepts or people from beyond that time. Subject also seems to be unaware that he is an ultimately two dimensional image on a poster, stating that he is just out on the streets and speaking to personnel through a "window", however subject is inable of currently elaborating any further. Despite this, subject seems to understand that he is being examined by professional scientists and that his current situation is real, and is always happy to cooperate. Security footage shows that when left alone subject often smokes, sings and dances - both notably well - and talks to himself. If subject ever requests to be left alone, all personnel should comply and leave subject for a reasonable amount of time, however, all surveillance equipment is to stay operational (See Addendum XXXX-1) and all surveillance equipment is to be immeditaely disabled.

As well as SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX exhibits two (See Addeundum XXXX-1 and below) three other anomalous attributes. Firstly, SCP-XXXX is impervious to all damage. Multiple tests have been carried out to test the extend of its resistance using items such as high caliber rifles, flamethrowers and containers of H₂SO₄, and so far no damage whatsoever has been done. Secondly, the message on the back of SCP-XXXX produces a strange reaction in any who view it, progressively growing worse over time. (See Addendum XXXX-2 for detailed symptoms)

As of Incident XXXX-A, SCP-XXXX has been transferred to Euclid class and special containment procedures have been revised. During Incident XXXX-A, SCP-XXXX first actively displayed another anomalous ability which involves SCP-XXXX disintegrating into a large cloud of black particulates whilst black "mist" appears on all reflective surfaces within a 200m radius. Any personnel who view said mist will experience fatal cardiac arrest within 5 minutes of initaial exposure. This continues until ten minutes after all surveillance equipment capable of viewing SCP-XXXX's previous position and reflection has been disabled.

SCP-XXXX first came to the attention of the SCP Foundation after the ██PD received multiple reports of disturbances around ███████'s Posters, █████ St, █████████. Field agents were dispatched to the location to apprehend the item. Upon arrival, the proprietor was found dead - autopsies have revealed the victim suffered from severe cardiac arrest - by the shop window and the poster kept in the back room, where it was immediately taken for containment. It is to be presumed that the owner of the shop in which SCP-XXXX resided had discovered the anomalous properties of said object. The owner of the establishment was reported to have a strong obsession with the taboo and occult.
