SCP-4956 is a mysterious block of text that appears when the above red text is clicked. It disappears when it is clicked again. SPOOKY!
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is contained on-site at ████████ Penitentiary in ███ █████████, ██████████. One guard must be stationed at the door to SCP-XXXX at all times to prevent unauthorized entry.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a windowless, barless solitary confinement cell unremarkable in appearance except that it has two thick metal doors in an airlock-like arrangement, and neither door possesses any form of locking mechanism. If two are more people are past the inner door (or the outer door if the inner door is open), or if both doors are open, SCP-XXXX will behave like a mundane prison cell. SCP-XXXX only begins exhibiting anomalous properties when a single person enters the cell and either or both doors are closed.
When a single person is "contained" by SCP-XXXX in this manner, opening both doors or breaching the walls, floor, or roof of SCP-XXXX will cause various effects to befall the subject, generally resulting in death. This will occur regardless of whether the breach was caused by the subject or someone external. The cause of death varies, but it appears to be specific to the individual.
Addendum XXXX:
As of test XXXX-06, a window of reinforced glass has been installed in SCP-XXXX to facilitate improved data gathering. This does not appear to have affected SCP-XXXX in any way.
Testing Logs:
Note: All tests were supervised by multiple cameras placed within SCP-XXXX, and all test subjects were outfitted with standard life sign monitors prior to testing.
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-01:
Subject: D-3955
Test: Subject instructed to enter SCP-XXXX, close the inner door, and open it again.
Results: Upon opening the door, subject was thrown back onto the floor in a visible state of panic. Subject attempted to reach the door, but was unable to do so, appearing to struggle to move forward before eventually falling over again. Within ██ seconds, subject appeared to be floating within SCP-XXXX. Subject expired within approximately ███ seconds, at which point the corpse fell out of the air and landed on the floor of SCP-XXXX. Autopsy revealed the cause of death to be asphyxiation.
Notes: Looked like drowning, but there was no sign of water anywhere in the lungs.
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-02:
Subject: D-562
Test: Subject instructed to enter SCP-XXXX, close the outer door, and open it again.
Results: Subject reported that the door was uncomfortably hot to the touch, and only opened it with repeated encouragement. Upon opening the door, subject almost immediately disintegrated from the feet upwards, barely even having time to exclaim in pain. Staff tasked with cleaning SCP-XXXX noted that the area around the outer door was very slightly warmer than the rest of the cell.
Notes: Not sure what happened there. Something heat-related?
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-03:
Subjects: D-7948, D-2990
Test: D-7948 was instructed to enter SCP-XXXX, closing both doors. D-2990 was then instructed to enter SCP-XXXX.
Results: Subjects both ended up in SCP-XXXX without incident and were able to simply leave.
Notes: Okay, so we can recover someone who gets shut in there by sending in a second person. That's good to know.
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-04:
Subject: D-7948
Test: Subject instructed to enter SCP-XXXX, close the outer door, then the inner door from inside SCP-XXXX, then open both doors.
Results: Subject closed both doors and opened the inner door without incident. Subject opened the outer door cautiously before slamming it shut almost immediately, howling in pain and taking weight off one leg. Examination indicated that the leg had been partially dissolved, although clothing remained intact. Subject claimed that a clear liquid began rushing in through the door, causing significant pain on contact. No evidence of such a substance was found.
Notes: Well, that means something is probably physically happening in there.
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-05:
Subject: D-7948
Test: Subject instructed to enter SCP-XXXX, close the outer door, then open and quickly close the outer door. Subject was provided with a harness to tether her to the roof.
Results: Subject reported the same liquid entering through the door, and noted that it appeared to be dissolving away the floor of the cell. Upon closing the door, the liquid apparently vanished and the cell quickly restored itself to its previous state. Footage shows no change in the environment.
Notes: Whatever it is, it appears to only be visible to the subject.
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-06:
Subject: D-7948
Test: A window was installed in the outer door of SCP-XXXX and D-7948 was instructed to enter, close the outer door, and report findings.
Results: Subject observed the same liquid outside the cell.
Notes: I guess it modifies either the environment outside the cell or the perception of the subject, probably the former. Seems to be the same environment every time for a given subject, too. Still not sure exactly how there's no trace other than the bodily damage, though. We'll keep D-7948 around for now as a control and to do tests where we want to know what the effect is going to be.
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-07:
Subject: D-2990
Test: Subject was given a jackhammer and instructed to enter SCP-XXXX, close both doors, and attempt to break through the floor.
Results: Subject successfully created a small hole in the floor and was instructed to continue digging. Shortly after breaking through, subject collapsed and expired soon after. Hole had mended itself within █ minutes. Autopsy was inconclusive, with death being caused by a mechanism known to be common to several poisonous gases, but with no trace of any toxic agent present in the body.
Notes: Right, so any breach in the cell probably exposes the occupant to whatever is outside.
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-08:
Subject: Two D-Class
Test: Subject 1 was instructed to enter SCP-XXXX and close the inner door only. Subject 2 was then instructed to open the inner door.
Results: Subject 1 immediately fled away from the door when it was opened, yelling incoherently about snakes before multiple puncture wounds appeared on exposed areas of his skin. Subject 2 hurriedly closed the door without being instructed to, whereupon the wounds and agitation stopped. Subject 2 was instructed to close the outer door and then open the inner door. This was achieved without incident and Subject 1 was retrieved. Subject 1 was able to report the characteristics of the snakes that attacked him and appropriate antivenom was administered. This had no effect and Subject 1 expired soon after. Autopsy revealed the antivenom to still be in the subject's system, apparently having failed to interact with anything.
Notes: Well, it doesn't quite work like an airlock, but it's close enough.
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-09:
Subject: One D-Class
Test: Subject was instructed to enter SCP-XXXX with a rope attached to him and close the outer door.
Results: The door would not completely close with the rope in it. No anomalous properties occurred.
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-10:
Subject: One D-Class
Test: Subject was instructed to enter SCP-XXXX with a thin silk string attached to him and close the outer door.
Results: The door severed the string. Subject was asked to look out the window and reported that she saw a relatively ordinary-looking landscape. Subject was instructed to attempt to leave SCP-XXXX. Upon opening the door, subject's head immediately exploded. Autopsy and forensic examination revealed evidence consistent with [DATA EXPUNGED (a sonic weapon currently under Foundation development)]
Testing Log SCP-XXXX-11:
Subject: One D-Class
Test: Test was unscheduled. Due to the existing architecture, the site of SCP-XXXX's containment had been adapted into D-class quarters. Subject appears to have sneaked into the room for purposes that remain unknown. It was decided to take the opportunity to test natural behavior within SCP-XXXX
Results: Footage shows that the subject attempted to leave SCP-XXXX multiple times, but closed the door again each time. Subject became increasingly desperate and appeared to be attempting to bargain with something on the other side of the door. Eventually the subject's dehydration won out and he opened the door and flung himself out. Autopsy revealed multiple puncture wounds consistent with standard 9mm rounds.
