Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a metal sphere measuring 3 metres radius of pure sliver coils of 100 volts AC at all times possible. 2 sets of 6 fully charged car batteries must be kept in a working state, being able to provide at least 21 volts. If any battery shows any signs of defection, a replacement is to be found immediately. If a replacement can not be found, any other car battery of recent models can be used as a replacement, and possible replacements should be located as soon as possible. A backup diesel generator is to be kept in working order, and deployed once power has been cut out for more than 30 minutes to an hour at the most. The electrical system is designed so as to be near identical in running as a normal car run on diesel fuel so as to be refuelled in as simple fashion as possible.
Ten (10) detectors are mounted equally on positions across a re-enforced plastic spherical surface around the coils, to measure any disturbances in the magnetic field. Such disturbances will immediately sound a local area alarm, the surrounding area being varied in intensity. When this happens the pre-mentioned systems should be checked for any discrepancies. If none are found, an alarm is to be sounded immediately and any continuing phenomenon reported to a senior scientist for study, and all personnel including grade Ds.
Anyone entering or exiting the containment of SCP-XXXX is to be interviewed for whether or not they let saw SCP-XXXX, [DATA EXPUNGED], any memory loss or loss of any mental or motor brain functions, and checked for any property that in any way resembles an instance of, or retains any properties of, SCP-XXXX-2.
SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept at Site 17. Personnel are discouraged from approaching it, although removing him from SCP-XXXX has so far made him safe. He seems to be sulking, and interaction does not seem to make any impact upon him, and does not further our knowledge by any means.
See Incident Log XXXX-01 .
SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept under close video surveillance at all times, and only level 2 personnel or above may attempt to enter SCP-XXXX-1's cell. The cell measures 3x5x5 of concrete, with a steel door leading into another small concrete room, with another steel door required to exit. A mechanical system allows the door to be operated remotely, in a room which requires electrical access. The two(2) doors may not be opened at the same time, as the opening of one door forces the other shut.
No item of any type is to be entered within SCP-XXXX spherical boundaries without the said object being studied for similarities to instances of SCP-XXXX-2.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-3 are stored within what is basically a broom closet, with each one being surrounded by re-enforced glass for their own protection. Physical contact should have the contactors monitored for at least a week afterwards, but is currently assumed to have no resultants other than ones which would normally take place.

Description: SCP-XXXX is what seems to be an sapient, abnormally large, grenade, with a smooth body except for where the pin extrudes, and several 'lines' of indents so as to resemble an ordinary grenade.
A surrounding spherical area of one(1) metre around it gives abnormal magnetic readings, which fluctuate in ways which are unpredictable in short term, but tend to be further and stronger around SCP-XXXX when we give it reason to 'be angry'.
Within it's mentioned perimeter, it appears to have several ways in which can adapt the contents:

  • The pre-mentioned magnetic disturbances.
  • Any non-human item which enters is subject to low levels of heat, in such a way that a face will appear, expressing the emotion that SCP-XXXX is assumed to be in. This face is elderly, white man with closed eyes, and may have minor changes from piece to piece, but overall seems to be the same person. The group of effected items is referred collectively to as SCP-XXXX-2. Most of the time the face will seem to be bored, annoyed, or angry.
  • Humans whom enter encounter significantly large mental changes. Humans with intent to destroy or harm SCP-XXXX will fail to remember, or at least fail to observe SCP-XXXX, in what is presumed to be an attempt to protect itself. The human will also start to lose brain functions. These functions will then begin to act without any interaction with the rest of the subject, while the subject remains ignorant of any changes unless mentioned by others. Physical appearances begin to change, age accelerating in young subjects, wrinkles growing on the face, and all outer surfaces becoming rough and brittle- hair may fall off- and no artificial changes will succeed to bind or effect the subject. Finally the subject will become what is assumed to be the identity that is drawn into SCP-XXXX-2 instances: identity has same physical appearances as the faces; seems to originate from a British trench in WWI; and will attempt to escape, employing violence if necessary, when it deems escape possible.
  • Electrical devices which can read information from the environment has the seemingly same effect forced onto it as human subjects, parts of its operating systems failing, working on then own, but never in any way which makes sense, and finally the effect breaks up any the whole device fails to operate, sometimes experiencing surges of power up to ██████.
  • Many minor changes, such as [DATA EXPUNGED], and electrical faults.

SCP-XXXX-1 is a human subject, all other subjects having been terminated because of the effect going wrong, or the subject had been violent and required termination in order for other humans to be protected. Partially effected subjects enter a vegetative state, with the subject muttering conversations with itself.
SCP-XXXX-1 matches the 'identity' in looks and mental state. He has all the normal needs of a human, but for the most part is unresponsive to human interaction. Every so often he has responded. SCP-XXXX-1 was restrained during the procedure of obtaining SCP-XXXX. Every so often he changes his attitude, and twice has been recorded having a discussion with himself. At these points SCP-XXXX's field shrinks, and afterwards it expands to abnormally large areas.

Addendum - Recovery: SCP-XXXX was recovered from the [REDACTED] Museum of Natural History, on the 19 of September ████. The foundation was alerted to the presence of an anomalous item there when a report came through of several incidences of unexplained comas occurring in the staff. As all staff high enough to have over-seen recovery of SCP-XXXX were beyond all hope, the records were studied and several of the recent visitors. It was found that SCP-XXXX was uncovered by the local archaeologist, █████████████. He was recovered while in an argument with his wife, who was trying to restrain him from using their gun which they kept loaded on the mantle. He was bound and restricted, and brought to the foundation for research, and designated as SCP-XXXX-1. Other artefacts contained within the museum had marks which had not been previously observed were contained and designated as SCP-XXXX-2. Amnesiacs were given to all visitors within the last month, and the mission covered up as recovering active explosives from the museum. New staff were hired by a stand in manager from the foundation, and all taken artefacts removed from records.
SCP-XXXX-1's wife has also undergone part of the effect, and obtained several injuries from SCP-XXXX-1. They were both reported as dead, cause of death being SCP-XXXX-1 going mad and shooting them both. Further study of the house under the cover of police work revealed several more instances of SCP-XXXX-2, but otherwise blood was obtained from willing donors, spilt on the floor, then scrubbed off so as to fake the shooting. After 4 weeks of study, the house(located at [REDACTED]) was released back to a relation of █████████████, █████████.
