Item #: SCP-DOG

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-DOG-1 are to be kept inside of a typical parchment containment safe at Site-73's "Parchment and Paper SCP Containment Wing". As they themselves are completely inert, no further containment is necessary. However, new instances of SCP-DOG-1 that appear must be secured immediately in order to prevent any civilian from activation of its effects. All Mobile Task Forces must be informed about the characteristics of SCP-DOG-1, so that they may be able to identify and seize any new instances of SCP-DOG-1 appearing outside of foundation property.

SCP-DOG-2, due to its very nature, cannot be contained. However, this is of debate among personnel. (See Description) If SCP-DOG-2 is ever to be reported outside of SCP-owned space, Mobile Task Forces Iota-4 ("Zookeepers") and Epsilon-5 ("Bouncers") are to be dispatched immediately to its location, and are to contain it within an enclosed space as quickly as possible. Members of Task Force Gamma-5 ("Red Herrings") are then to be dispatched to distribute Class A Amnesiacs to all civilians nearby the locations of SCP-DOG-2. All civilians that sustain injuries related to SCP-DOG-2 are to be treated under the guise of a stray dog attack.

Description: The entirety of SCP-DOG consists of three parts, from here on referred to as SCP-DOG-1 through SCP-DOG-3.

SCP-DOG-1 refers to a group of posters identified SCP-DOG-1-1 through SCP-DOG-1-14. All of the posters identified possess different appearances, but always contain distinct similarities. All instances found to date are on the topic of a lost pet. As such, they possess data and text appropriate for a "lost pet" poster. This includes a picture of the pet in question; information of the pet's name and physical characteristics; and a phone number of which to call if the pet is found.1 The posters themselves appear to be made of standard A2-sized copier paper.

All instances also have the title "Lost <SPECIES>" (With the animal's species in place) in bold █████ print. Below the title is the aforementioned "picture" of the animal, and below that are the details of the animal. However, the details of the animal are always in an extremely non-casual list format. For example: "Molly. Black fur. Large snout. Cash reward."2 In ██% of cases, these details are in ███████ ███ font.

Instances of SCP-DOG-1 also cannot be damaged physically in any way. (See Test Log: DOG-01a and DOG-01b)

When the number present on any instance of SCP-DOG-1 is called using a telephone on a working line, it immediately goes through to a sound described by testers as "empty" and "unsettling". This continues for approximately ██ seconds. After this, the line disconnects.

Within █ hours of calling the number on SCP-DOG-1, SCP-DOG-2 is spawned within the city limits of whatever town the caller is currently in, or within █ kilometers if the caller is not inside a settlement. SCP-DOG-2 cannot be physically contained for observation, and very few visual records of it have been taken.

Based on personal accounts and any visual records, SCP-DOG-2 appears to be a black-furred quadruped similar in shape to members of the genus Canis. Its fur is severely ungroomed and lengthy. SCP-DOG-2, according to witness responses, possesses eyes of a reddish coloration that are typically hidden by its fur.

SCP-DOG-2 has been shown to be highly aggressive. It will readily seek out nearby humans and attempt to initiate an attack against them. SCP-DOG-2 will attack its victims by pouncing into the air, which reveals its eyes to a human below, [DATA EXPUNGED]. This has proven to be lethal virtually instantly in ██% of reported attacks.3

If any person manages to trap SCP-DOG-2 within an enclosed space of which it cannot escape, then SCP-DOG-2 will disappear from the space in a flash of light along with a noise described as "desperate howling". After approximately █ minutes, the caller will receive a call on whatever telephone SCP-DOG-1's number was initially dialed on. A deep male baritone voice (SCP-DOG-3) will then leave a message, thanking the caller for retrieving their pet. SCP-DOG-3 will then go on to say that they will transfer the promised cash reward momentarily, then hang up. About $██ USD will then appear in the caller's bank account, or in appropriate dollar bills wherever they store their money.

Once the number on an instance of SCP-DOG-1 has been called, then it will become "used". This means that the number on it will become unreachable, and said instance of SCP-DOG-1 will lose all of its indestructible properties. It will from then on share the same physical characteristics as a standard sheet of A2 copier paper.

Test Log

Experiment DOG-01a: ██/██/20██

Objective: Test the durability of SCP-DOG-1 against several methods of destruction.

Procedure: SCP-DOG-1-1, an unused instance of SCP-DOG-1, is treated to intense flames, submerged completely in water, submerged in hydrobromic acid, pulled from side ends by a machine at forces in excess of ██████N of force, and shot from 5 meters away with a .45 Glock 17 pistol.

Results: Flames had no effect. SCP-DOG-1-1 emerged from water & HBr unchanged, as if the container was empty. Machine failed to tear. Pistol bullet vaporized on impact. However, SCP-DOG-1-1 did suffer slight reaction from the knockback.

Experiment DOG-01b: ██/██/20██

Objective: Attempt to change the shape of SCP-DOG-1-1 without physically damaging its structure.

Procedure: D-729 is told to fold SCP-DOG-1-1, without tearing or ripping it, into any shape he preferred.

Results: D-729 was successfully able to fold SCP-DOG-1-1 into a paper airplane without experiencing any difficulty. When later questioned, D-729 said he did not find anything particularly unusual about SCP-DOG-1-1.

Test Addendum:██/██/20██ After approximately █ hours, SCP-DOG-1-1 slowly began to unfold into its previous, completely flat form. After ██ hours, SCP-DOG-1-1 was indistinguishable from before the test.

Experiment DOG-02a: ██/██/20██

Objective: Observe the effects of calling the number on SCP-DOG-1-1 in a controlled environment.

Procedure: D-class personnel D-843, D-1260, and D-405 were placed within the mock city in Site ██, (originally created for testing with SCP-███) and to call the number on SCP-DOG-1-1. Changes made to the area included; the suspension of a trigger-able 2x2X1m 1T cage near the center, which could be felled with an appropriate remote control; and [REDACTED]. The group is also provided with:

  • One (1) small green backpack
  • One (1) remote control, able to drop the 2x2x1 meter cage in the center of the structure
  • One (1) cell phone, able to make calls
  • Three (3) energy bars
  • Three (3) water rations
  • One (1) 8-round pistol with ammo, rigged to self-destruct if necessary.
  • Three (3) aural radio transmitters

Research personnel are also to monitor the security cameras of the mock city, and to provide information if necessary.

Results: D-1260 successfully reached the number present on SCP-DOG-1-1. She claimed to hear the sounds of "echoes in a large cave" for approximately ██ seconds before hearing a dial tone.

██ minutes after hearing the dial tone, SCP-DOG-2 materialized in the southwest corner of the construct: ██ meters away from the position of D-1260 after the call.

Experiment DOG-01c: ██/██/20██

Objective: Test the durability of SCP-DOG-1 against several methods of destruction, post-activation.

Procedure: SCP-DOG-1-1, a used instance of SCP-DOG-1, is to be once again treated to intense flames, submerged completely in water, submerged in hydrobromic acid, pulled from side ends by a machine at forces in excess of ██████N of force, and shot from 5 meters away with a .45 Glock 17 pistol.

Results: Flames incinerated SCP-DOG-1-1 as would a normal piece of paper. As a result, no chance to test the other destruction elements was available. Naturally, it can be assumed that SCP-DOG-1-1 was completely vulnerable to all form of paper-destruction post-activation.
Test Addendum:██/██/20██ SCP-DOG-1-1's remains, by approval of Site Command, were decommissioned on this day. As a result, it is to be removed from current containment procedures and disposed of appropriately.

Addendum DOG-01: (Written by Researcher ██████ approximately [REDACTED] after Experiment DOG-01c)

In response to the questions of further testing on SCP-DOG:

Yes, it is true that we at the Foundation still have many questions regarding the nature of SCP-DOG. From where does SCP-DOG-2 appear and disappear? Can SCP-DOG-2 be contained somehow on foundation property? And exactly why does it seek nothing short of absolute destruction?

To this, I say no. And by that, I mean that there will be no further testing authorized on any element of SCP-DOG. And why would we need to? We know enough to adequately contain it.
And even if more instances were to appear outside of containment, who even randomly calls those numbers? Frankly, I'm surprised they were ever even discovered.

Addendum DOG-02:

Upon returning back to her bed in the D-Class bunkrooms following DOG-02a, D-1260 found $██.35 under her pillow in various US dollar bills and coins.

Analysis of its composition found that both the bills and coins were completely identical in material and design to standard U.S. currency. However, the serial codes on the bills do not correspond to any known printed bills, even though [DATA EXPUNGED].

The coins [DATA EXPUNGED]. It is still unknown exactly how the money and coins were minted.
