Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to have a 25m x 25m perimeter maintained just outside of the 3.5m radius of SCP-XXXX's anomalous effect. The perimeter is to be guarded with, at minimum, two-to-three guards continuously patrolling. Any travelers that approach SCP-XXXX are to be stopped before they reach the perimeter and redirected to a nearby town. Additional temporary housing will be set up around SCP-XXXX as necessary when needed. Any recording equipment must be concealed before entering SCP-XXXX's radius.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an abandoned town located in the ████████ Desert in Afghanistan. The town is approximately 19m from the far east side to the far west side and 21m from the far south side to the far north side. Analysis of the materials that compose the buildings within SCP-XXXX show that they are built out of regular mud, timber, cement, and clay, and do not exhibit any bizarre qualities. At the center of the town is a small building which houses an indoor marketplace. The marketplace consists of a varying number of vendor stands that change in number at random intervals while not being observed. All buildings surrounding the border of the town are void of any furnishings or notable decoration around the interior and exterior. Whenever an object is placed within of one of the bordering buildings, said object will disappear within a 24-hour time span and reappear being sold at a vendor stand in the center marketplace.

The most notable anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX become apparent when a subject enters the 3.5 meter radius of the town's outskirts. Upon entering the area, entities classified as SCP-XXXX-2 will manifest from throughout the town. SCP-XXXX-2 specimens will appear physically identical to those that observe them. When viewed by a person from outside the radius of SCP-XXXX's affect, the SCP-XXXX-2 subject inside the area seems to vanish from sight and will only reappear to the viewer if they exit the area of affect or the viewer enters the area.

Whenever a picture or recording is taken of any of the SCP-XXXX-1 subjects, they appear absent from where they were positioned in the picture/recording. The voices of the subjects are also unknown, as all recordings taken of their voices come through as static noise and scrambled noises. All attempts to decode a possible message from the static have come up inconclusive. Because of this, all records of interactions with any of the SCP-XXXX-1 subjects be written down.
