Special Containment Procedures: All remaining instances of SCP-XXXX are to remain in their original containers and stored in a temperature controlled storage unit in Wing C of Site-76.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a clear liquid that is chemically indistinguishable from water. Extensive testing has revealed that it shares all known physical properties with filtered drinking water, including boiling and freezing temperatures, pH level, a lack of detectable turbidity, and trace amounts of minerals and inorganic chemicals. SCP-XXXX has been deposited and sealed into twenty-three 500ml bottles of █████████ brand bottled drinking water, apparently to encourage accidental ingestion. One additional bottle of SCP-XXXX had already been opened and emptied upon its recovery, which occurred on █/██/201█ after an employee of the █████ █████ grocery store in ███████, California unknowingly purchased and ingested it while performing morning maintenance duties prior to the store opening. The employee, identified as ███████ ████, was found dead in the bathroom of the grocery store by another employee. The witness was administered Class-B amnestics after her report to local law enforcement was intercepted by SCP personnel and SCP field agents were able to temporarily secure the site and recover SCP-XXXX and the subject's remains.

Security Log 0622 details the anomalous effects leading up to the subject's death. In spite of the physical effects of SCP-XXXX and the multiple self-inflicted lacerations, contusions, and compound fractures found on the body, the autopsy revealed the subject's cause of death to be extreme dehydration.

Subject begins mopping floor using industrial wet mop and large rolling bucket.

5:33 AM
Subject finishes mopping floor and approaches a nearby vending machine in the front of the store. Subject inserts money, and retrieves bottle of SCP-XXXX. Subject opens bottle and begins ingesting SCP-XXXX.

5:34 AM
Subject finishes ingesting entire bottle of SCP-XXXX without pausing, drops the bottle, and stumbles as though dizzy or nauseous.

5:35 AM
On the posterior of the subject's head, immediately proximal to the base of the skull, a laceration appears as though the scalp is being sliced by an unseen blade. Once the laceration reaches approximately 5cm in length, a sound of ripping flesh is heard as the wound opens into an approximation of a lipless mouth. The posterior mouth begins emitting a hoarse wail.

5:36 AM
Subject falls into a back-bend and forcefully slams its posterior mouth into the nearby bucket of mop water, drinking its contents rapidly. The subject's face is visible during this act, and psychological analysis indicates it is expressing a mixture of extreme fear and confusion.

5:38 AM
Subject finishes drinking the entire contents of the bucket. Still in a back-bend position supported by all four limbs, it violently knocks the bucket aside and runs down the nearest aisle. Subject appears to be frantically searching for something. Its ability to run and leap in the back-bend position is exceptionally athletic, resembling the locomotion of a canine. Autopsy indicates that ease of movement in this position was in part achieved by a forcible dislocation of both of the subject's patellas.

5:39 AM
Subject finds bottles and gallon jugs of water in an adjacent aisle and begins attempting to ingest their contents by knocking them to the floor and smashing them open using its head, fists, and elbows.

5:50 AM
Having consumed most available packaged water in the store, subject runs toward the employee bathroom. It leaps violently into the door of the bathroom several times before obtaining entry, causing severe damage to the subject's head, shoulders, spine, and upper limbs. The effects of SCP-XXXX appear to render the subject indifferent to bodily integrity.

5:52 AM
Inside the bathroom, the subject slams its head into the toilet and rapidly drinks the contents of the bowl using its posterior mouth.

5:53 AM
Subject begins to use its body to bludgeon the sink and toilet until the damaged plumbing fixtures become disconnected and begin spewing water. Subject attaches its posterior mouth to one of the disconnected pipes and continues to consume the resultant spray.

5:55 AM
In spite of the extreme amount of water consumed by the subject, it begins to rapidly exhibit signs of dehydration while continuing to drink. Its skin becomes shriveled and slack, and it begins to exhibit signs of fatigue.

6:02 AM
As the subject succumbs to dehydration, it loses its grip on the pipe from which it was drinking and falls to the floor. Its posterior mouth continues to emit a hoarse wail for several more minutes until the subject dies at 6:10 AM. Water continues to flow from the damaged plumbing, flooding the bathroom and eventually spreading to the rest of the store.
