Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a storage room at Site 77. Sleeping on SCP-XXXX is not allowed. When subjects already affected are to kept in civilian hospitals to be fed and hydrated intravenously, and are to be monitored for change.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is a wooden bed measuring approximately 183 x 90 x 30 centimeters. Human subjects who wake up on SCP-XXXX after utilizing it become paralyzed (further referred to as "subjects"), although no other type of interaction triggers any anomalous effects. If subjects are not fed and hydrated intravenously, they will eventually expire due to their inability to feed or hydrate themselves. Subjects have not yet been observed to change condition following paralysis. Brain scans of subjects indicate that the centers of their brains responsible for inhibiting motion during REM sleep remain active, even while awake.

SCP-XXXX was recovered on 08/03/1997 in an apartment complex in Crossville, TN after the landlord had discovered the deceased Mr. ████ ███████ laying on SCP-XXXX while attempting to collect rent. An investigation by local authorities revealed that Mr. ███████ had died of dehydration, and had been suffering from malnutrition. Two weeks prior, a similar incident had occured when another person by the name of ████ █████ had been found in the same state. Following this, the apartment was later rented out to Mr. ███████. The landlord was initially suspected of homicide, but investigations by local authorities showed that he lacked the means or motivation to kill anyone in that manner. Everyone involved in the incident was given Class B amnestics and released.
