Crystalline Being

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard containment chamber that is lined with an alloy of iron, cobalt, and platinum metals. Five armed guards are to patrol the area for any liquid leakages. An additional guard is to monitor the monitor for any changes in behavior. The guards are to equip themselves and purge the room of any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-3 every month for repairs and possible revision of defense protocols. It is also advised that any personnel change armaments for acceptable alternatives.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears as a shattering purple crystal cluster with a darkened vortex in the center, and a small hole that changes size. It seems to act as a portal, though also is capable of growing more clusters to produce more portals, though the production time appears to vary. The creation of a cluster has only happened once, but it should be assumed that each new cluster would have a unique color and/or entity/s. The clusters are, however, vulnerable to most weapons, with a standard assault rifle able to quickly put it into a regenerative form for approximately 36 hours. (Only about half a clip crippled the structure) When in a regenerative form, any cluster instances will take on the characteristics, even to being almost identical to, a non-anomalous, crystalline quartz formation. SCP-XXXX and other cluster instances will attempt to prevent this by manipulating any loose, nearby (10-20 meters) objects and shielding themselves. How they accomplish this is unknown, but does not work on objects in a being's possession or has been within 15 minutes prior to entering range, nor organic materials. During otherwise 'peaceful' conditions, any cluster instances will, if they are able to, produce their entity/s until unable to do so.
SCP-XXXX-1 are small, purple quadrupeds very much resembling insects. They appear to be more hive-minded, and have shown no individuality to date. They are extremely hostile to entities not originating from the portals, and are able to gain a noticeable resistance (about 50% less damage from initial contact) to any projectile weaponry over time. This ability does seem to decay after an extended period of not coming into contact with the resisted weapon/s. This was found when instances were immune to local law enforcement's small fire arms at time of discovery. They share these immunities group-wide, even if some instances have never made contact with that particular weapon type. Their main means of attack is through puncturing of flesh with use of claws or ramming a target with 2 horns found atop the "mouth" and head, though several rare instances have been noticed to find a way to launch piercing objects through small orifices on their appendages.

Updated: Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 can, when unable to find a suitable exit, produce an unknown corrosive liquid that will gradually melt most materials over time with increasing speeds, though only when commanded. (Info below) This has been proven to also affect biological matter, whereas Agent [Data Expunged] had been found [Redacted] after a failed attempt of hand-to-hand combat with one of the instances.

Log 1336-A: Shortly after containment, a green crystalline cluster that was previously forming on SCP-XXXX had become a separate entity, marked as SCP-XXXX-2. Site Security had been immediately notified, and additional guards were sent to ensure containment. After formation of the central vortex, SCP-XXXX-2 had produced a new entity, while all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 had been retreating into the original cluster. The new entity, now fully visible, was approximately 7.5 feet tall, bipedal, retained an insectoid appearance, and had 2 scythe-like appendages in place of regular humanoid arms. Heavy Containment personnel entered the chamber to attempt to apprehend the target, but found the target willing to follow. The new entity, SCP-XXXX-3, is awaiting O5 approval for interview.
