SCP-XXXX: Conversion Glass
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-01 is to be kept in a secure acid resistant case measuring 20cm cubed with walls at least 5cm thick while not in testing. The case is to be equipped with a de-humidifier and any foreign substances detected inside the case are to be immediately reported to the hazardous wastes removal crew. Instances of SCP-XXXX-02 are to be stored in standard acid containment units until a method of disposal is found, as no alkaline has yet been found that can fully neutralize it.

Description: SCP-XXXX-01 is a cylindrical drinking glass measuring approximately 15cm in height and 5cm in diameter. Its anomalous properties become apparent when any object is placed inside it and touches the sides of the glass. At this point, over a period ranging from 5 to 20 minutes, dependent on the density and mass of the object, the object is converted into a liquid (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-02) which matches the original object's mass. SCP-XXXX-02 appears to be made up of human blood, salt water, highly concentrated sulfuric acid and [REDACTED] in seemingly random proportions, showing no specifics from object to object. SCP-XXXX-02 typically displays a pH value of -█ to -██; however, despite the liquid's highly acidic nature, SCP-XXXX-01 remains completely unaffected, and, indeed, seems impervious to any other sort of damage.

Test A - 16/04/20██

Subject: 1 Iron Ingot of mass 100g, SCP-XXXX-01
Procedure: Iron ingot was inserted into SCP-XXXX-01 by D-Class.
Results: After 11 minutes 20 seconds no traces of iron were left in SCP-XXXX-01, having all been converted into 100ml SCP-XXXX-02.
Analysis: Conversion is completely lossless. The reaction does not appear to be exo- or endo-thermic. Catalyst theorized to be coating the inside of the glass.

Test B - 03/07/20██

Subject: 400g Lead, SCP-XXXX-01
Procedure: Lead was placed inside SCP-XXXX-01 by a D-Class.
Results: Lead was converted to SCP-XXXX-02 in 20 minutes exactly.
Analysis: Larger and denser materials appear to take longer to convert.

Test C - 20/04/20██

Subject: 1 male human index finger measuring 6cm long and 1cm thick (severed at the knuckle joint), SCP-XXXX-01
Procedure: Finger inserted into SCP-XXXX-01 by D-Class.
Results: After 8 minutes exactly the finger appeared to have been entirely converted into SCP-XXXX-02.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX-01 converts organic mass. Organic mass placed inside SCP-XXXX-01 is damaged only by the conversion process; showing no signs of acid wear.

Test D - 01/05/20██

Subject: 200g diamond dust, SCP-XXXX-01
Procedure: Dust was poured into SCP-XXXX-01 by D-Class.
Results: See incident report XXXX-A
Analysis: The gaseous form of SCP-XXXX-02 seems to be sentient to a degree. Further testing of SCP-XXXX-01 with materials that sublimate is strictly forbidden by order of 05-██.

Test E - 03/07/20██

Subject: Scraping tool, SCP-XXXX-01
Procedure: Scraping tool was used by D-Class to scrape off some of the inside of SCP-XXXX-01
Results: Scraping tool began decomposing into SCP-XXXX-02 as soon as it touched the sides of the glass. D-Class dropped tool out of panic and no sample was acquired.
Analysis: The catalyst can now be safely assumed to be lining the glass, however there seems to be no explanation for why the glass itself is not converted.

Test F - 10/07/20██

Subject: 10cm x 1cm glass cylinder, SCP-XXXX-01
Procedure: Glass cylinder was placed inside SCP-XXXX-01 by a D-Class.
Results: Glass cylinder was converted into SCP-XXXX-02 in 15 minutes 23 seconds.
Analysis: Glass is not impervious to the conversion process. SCP-XXXX-01 is protected from the conversion process by other means.
