SCP-2287 registering that it is observing a H0 S240 L121 object and entering SCP-2287-A

Item #: SCP-2287

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2287 is to be kept in a standard cell for humanoid SCPs. The interior is to be completely green. All furnishings, electronics, appliances, reading material, and clothing are to be cleared before introduction. Meals are to be prepared by a trained and cleared cook. Meals do not require inspection by project leaders.

All personnel entering the cell must ensure they have no open wounds, sun burns, are not prone to blushing, have blood shot eyes, open their mouths for extended durations or possess red hair. Necessary personnel with one or more of these afflictions/traits will be provided with appropriate coverings to conceal offending features. These coverings are not to be removed under any circumstances while present with SCP-2287.

Guards shall be provided with green uniforms and armed with flashbangs, smoke pellets, and at least one green burlap sack each. Special training and briefing required. Emergency power switches are located inside and outside cell and will terminate all interior light sources.

In summary there are to be NO RED COLORED ITEMS outside of authorized experimentation. Brown, orange, and purple permissible with caution, should not be part of regular furnishings. Failure to follow these protocols will result in demotion to D-class. Guards are authorized to use lethal force to prevent red items from unauthorized introduction into SCP-2287's cell.

Description: SCP-2287 is an African male, born 6-7-1988, 190 cm tall and strong build. Under quarantined conditions SCP-2287 is docile and polite, but suffers from PTSD and chronic depression1. Spends most of its day exercising or brooding. Will engage personnel entering its cell with friendly banter- recommended to not reciprocate.

Upon seeing the color red SCP-2287 will become emotionally volatile. The extent corresponds to the shade and amount of red perceived. This can range from melancholy when perceiving oranges, purples, and browns that pull red, to an uncontrollable rage state at the color red itself with the worse observed and pinpointed as H0 S240 L121 (Hue Saturation Luminosity).

Upon witnessing this shade in a quantity over ten square centimeters (or a similar shade in a greater quantity) SCP-2287 will enter a state labeled SCP-2287-A. SCP-2287-A appears to grow additional body parts, however observation of surveillance footage at reduced speed shows this is actually it moving fast enough to create optical illusions, pausing in patterns to create extra faces, arms, or even multiple 'clones' of itself. Speed varies from 1,200 kph to ██████ kph. This is accompanied by loud screaming, often profanity, ranging from 120 to 194 (maximum) decibels.

Assuming this display does not cause the offending object to leave SCP-2287's line of sight, SCP-2287 will then violently assault it with repeated blows reaching or exceeding ███ newtons of force. In tests introducing red objects SCP-2287-A was capable of warping material as strong as [redacted]. This assault will continue sparsed with threat displays and shouting until the offending object is removed or changes color to an adequate degree. Attempts to subdue SCP-2287 while in this state meet with mixed results, though its aggression is usually limited to the offending object. If it can be blinded its rage subsides, though frequently it is capable of evading such measures or in some cases remaining in rage state even after offending object is removed, for as long as 4.2 seconds. As such these measures should not be relied upon.

SCP-2287 was recovered from a prison in ██████, ████████ after murdering its mother in ████. Subject has long history of rage issues, presumably involving exposure to trigger colors. Despite this it is only responsible for one recorded human fatality before testing. Full extent of anomaly either developed later in life or secluded nature of its homeland prevented it from seeing the shades of red that cause the most volatile reactions.
