SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedure: SCP-XXXX must be kept inside a clear glass container at a gravitational acceleration value below 9.7639 N/kg. At all times a surveillance camera that is infrared capable must be pointed at SCP-XXXX with a automatic alarm set to trigger if any radiant flux changes are detected.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 2 dimensional entity with the appearance of a grey circle of ink, 5 centimeters in diameter at this point but with known capacity to change its surface are, currently at the center of a blank notebook page, hereby called SCP-XXXX-1, acquired at [REDACTED]
While SCP-XXXX-1 was not part of the original entity, according to the records of [REDACTED], it seems to provide a near-perfect medium for the entity to exist while at rest.

SCP-XXXX exhibits the ability to travel at what seems like instant speed over any pure 2 dimensional environment. These environments are really rare in our universe but still exist, especially in the form of shadows and electronic screens. Paintings and other types of art might be considered 2 dimensional environments by the entity or may not, and the specifics of how they qualify as such is yet to be determined exactly, but is suspected to be linked to the thickness and homogeneity of the ink used. When moving the entity appears to release electromagnetic pulses on the infrared spectrum, at variable wavelengths. This trait disappears when at rest.

When the entity is given free movement in an environment it can exist in, it will exhibit the ability to alter it at will. If the 2 dimensional environment represents a real structure, be it biological or otherwise, the changes SCP-XXXX causes will be carried to the structure itself.
This proves rather dangerous when the entity takes hold of computer or TV screens and photographs or shadows.

SCP-XXXX was first encountered of the coast of [REDACTED] aboard a stranded commercial freighter carrying a shipment of industrial grade mirrors. 12 out of the 15 members of the crew were left dead and deformed when the entity tried to evade capture.

Addendum 1: During testing a class-D operative threw SCP-XXXX-1 when SCP-XXXX lunged at him. Apparently that movement caused the entity to retreat back to SCP-XXXX-1. After that incident a decision was made to test SCP-XXXX's reaction to a variety of forces in different directions and intensities.

Addendum 2: Testing shows that when subjected to centripetal forces that overcome the acceleration of gravity SCP-XXXX loses it's ability to move. It was made apparent after microscopic evaluations that when under a 9.7639 N/kg or less force, the entity starts to become 3-dimensional, rendering it powerless.
SCP-XXXX was moved to a permanent micro-gravity environment on Area-32.
