Chromosomal locations of SCP-4000-GEN-A to -GEN-D, responsible for SCP-4000's superstructure

Item #: SCP-4000

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the presence of SCP-4000 in nearly 100% of the human population, containment focuses on information suppression on its nature. Foundation operatives are to be inserted into any research project that may reveal SCP-4000(1) or its biological function. Similarly, Foundation operatives within GOIs are to be briefed on detection of SCP-4000 expression, and are to report on such developments as their operations permit.

Description: SCP-4000 is a contiguous space between the skin and other bodily tissue. SCP-4000 is primarily antimemetic, though exhibits paramemetic properties in controlled conditions. A moderately strong antimemtic fluid, SCP-4000-A, is circulated by SCP-4000 and gives it its antimemtic properties.

SCP-4000 is believed to have been evolved by Homo sapiens sometime in the Late Pleistocene. No evidence to date suggests presence of SCP-4000 in any other known species of the Hominidae family. Due to being a soft tissue, no fossil record has been able to confirm or rerute the existence in any other Homo genus species.

Theories revolving around the role of SCP-4000 in the current status of SCP-1000 have been considered, as well as a possible similarity to SCP-3000, suggesting convergent evolution of the SCP-3000 and the Homo genus.
