Optical mask feedback sandbox (delta Aurora03's sandbox

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX is to be kept in its containment locker under any circumstances. The locker is to be locked at all times.

SCP-XXXX is a 1940's era German optical gas mask. SCP-XXXX is made up of leather, canvas, steel, and a small amount of rubber. The mask has a long ribbed hose attached to the side of it which leads to a large filter. The mask's eyepieces are unusually small, allowing very limited vision.

SCP-XXXX was located in a well preserved bunker in ███████, France. SCP-XXXX was discovered after multiple crates of extremely well preserved German Gas Masks were found by an Urban Exploration Team. These Explorers found that after donning SCP-XXXX the wearer would experience extreme nausea, short term paralysis and shortness of breath, they would later expire.

During a police investigation following reports of a heavy stench coming from the bunker, an undercover Foundation Agent of MTF Squad Iota-10 ("Damn Feds") discovered SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties. A retrieval team was sent in to acquire and return SCP-XXXX to Site 19. Class B amnestic were issued to any witnesses of SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties. Upon arrival to Site-19, the mask was immediately moved to containment locker 27-JB.

It has been revealed that upon donning SCP-XXXX, the wearer will experience anomalous effects for 10 to 20 minutes. Subject will then begin to experience auditory hallucinations of what sounds like radio chatter in a foreign language, likely German. Translations of messages can be found in the Addendum. This lasts for 20 minutes. After this time is up, the subject will fall to the ground and start wheezing. The subject will start coughing up blood and will expire soon after. Further inspection revealed that every organ in the test subjects body will stop, except for the heart and lungs. Leaving the test subject brain dead. Upon autopsy all organs, except for the heart and lungs, were severely decayed. Further inspection revealed the organs were no longer human. The subjects organs did not match that of any currently known species . When dissected, the organs were found to be made up of resin and silicone. All organs had a dark blue-green hue to them. The test subject's eyes were also severely degraded, with black slits down the middle of the eyes.

Addendum 2.

Testing summary of test X-32. Dr. Vladostk asks Subject D-29322 to don SCP-XXX.
Subject D-29322 donned SCP-XXXX when instructed, experiencing the already known anomalous effects and expiring after 30 minutes. Subject then proceeded to reanimate and began pounding on the cell door, demanding to be let out.

A security team is ordered to the cell by Dr. Vladostk. Security team is given the go ahead and enters the cell. Team fires upon Subject D-29322. Subject is hit multiple times in the heart and expires. SCP-XXXX is retrieved and brought back to its containment locker. Standard autopsy reports on D-29322 revealed the same results as before, except the subjects brain and eyes were unexplainably missing. Dissection of the heart and lungs revealed them to be filled with a viscous dark yellow fluid. Fluid was preserved and put into storage.

Cases of reanimation have been recorded in 1 out of 5 test subjects. Reanimated subjects have been designated SCP-XXXX-1. Further examination of copies of SCP-XXXX-1 is underway. Security level to access SCP-XXXX has been updated to level 2.

Footnote added by Dr. Vladostk
A guide to SCP-XXXX's instances and how they're created.
SCP-XXXX-1: The reanimated form. Happens in one out of five subjects. The subject's skin will seemingly melt off, revealing a tall, black creature underneath. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 can be killed with a bullet to the heart.
SCP-XXXX-2: Result witnessed in 4-5 subjects. Standard result.
