Item #: SCP-2608

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment: SCP-2608 is to be contained in a 10 x 10 secure holding cell with a security camera in each of the four corners. A cot and a small writing desk (complete with paper and a calligraphy pen) are allowed to stay inside the cell, as per request of the specimen. Surveillance of the cell is required at all hours of the day. Entrance to SCP-2608’s holding area must be approved by personnel with a Level Two security clearance, and only for the purpose of replacing paper and ink. SCP-2608 is removed from its cell every two days for a mandatory change of the bandages that cover its eyes. Upon removal, SCP-2608 is to be secured with handcuffs and accompanied by a minimum of two lightly armed guards. A roll of gauze bandage must be covering specimen’s eyes at all times.

Description: SCP-2608 is a humanoid, sentient being with sickly pale skin that has the texture of sandpaper. Height is recorded as 1.8 m, weight is 57.6 kg. Specimen is clothed in an all black prison uniform with a large hood shadowing its face and sleeved extending far beyond the reach of its arms. SCP-2608 lacks eyes, though the eyelids and lashes remain intact. Its black, empty eye sockets leak copious amounts of blood nonstop.

Eye contact is strictly prohibited. Viewing of SCP-2608’s eye sockets results in an immediate feeling of depression as well as the overwhelming urge to keep staring at SCP-2608. The longer the subject views SCP-2608, the greater the effects. 36 hours after exposure, subject will begin having vivid nightmares. Subjects report seeing glimpses of SCP-2608 watching them from a sitting position at the foot of the bed, and/or laying on its side facing them as it stares. As time progresses, subject will begin seeing SCP-2608 standing behind them in mirrors for seconds at a time. This causes subjects to fall into clinical depression, followed by paranoia, hysteria, and insomnia. All subject cases have resulted in the removal of their own eyes by [ DATA EXPUNGED ].

SCP-2608 does not speak and no attempts to coax it into conversation have succeeded. SCP-2608 does however, have a perfect understanding of the English language and will write messages as a form of communication, sometimes requesting a “pen pal” to share information with. Only reaction besides its usual depressed and melancholy behavior was during an interview with Dr. [ REDACTED ]. It entered a rather distressed state upon being asked what happened to its eyes. Specimen proceeded into hysterical state of silent crying and screaming while clawing at its eye bandages; blood proceeding to drain out of all facial openings in large amounts.
