Item #: SCP-3208

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Embedded personnel within NASA, as well as informed and authorized NASA administration, are to intercept, collect, encrypt, and/or destroy any information or depictions of SCP-3208 before publication of information and depictions can occur. Foundation cyber security teams are to deploy data mites to seek out and destroy all internet data of SCP-3208. SCP-3208’s location just outside the orbital rings of Saturn has been deemed appropriate containment until further notice. Due to SCP-3208’s current course towards Earth, an annual reevaluation of the Safe classification is to be conducted with Dr. Owens in attendance. Further containment strategies are to be discussed following annual reevaluation.

Description: SCP-3208 is presumed to be a World War Two era, German submersible U-Boat currently in route toward Earth, underway from Saturn. Class Type VIIC submarine. SCP-3208 Is measured at 67.10 meters in length by 9.6 meters in height with a beam width of 6.2 meters as well as a 4.74 meter draught. The designation U-376 is observable by white painted markings on the outside of the Hull, towards the bow of the vessel as well as the 1943 German Nazi Flag on both sides of the sail. SCP-3208 Is thought to be the same U-376, a German U-boat of Germany’s Kriegsmarine, commissioned in October 16, 1939, launched on July 10, 1941, that was reported missing since April 13, 1943 along the Bay of Biscay. SCP-3208 was discovered on September 5th,1986 by embedded personnel at ████████ Observatory in ██████, Iowa. Externally, SCP-3208 Is observed as having; two 1.23 meter long propellers, or screws. Five 53.3 cm diameter torpedo tubes, four fitted at the bow, with one on the stern. One 8.8 cm SK C/35 Naval Gun and one 2 cm C/30 anti-aircraft gun, both of which are located along the deck. At the bridge of the sail, stands a torch, or light, used for Morse code communication. It is currently unknown how SCP-3208 arrived at its current position and is currently traveling through the void of space without proper propulsion systems. Neither, is it apparent how SCP-3208 and its apparent crew have survived without adequate life support systems, supplies, or refueling.

Addendum-3208-A: On ████,██ 1997, NASA satellite [Data Redacted] received a 20 kHz signal of very low frequency (VLF) later identified as a radio transmission sent from SCP-3208. Embedded Foundation personnel at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Texas were given secure access and authorization to attempt communication vial VLF radio transmissions between NASA’s JPL, the [Data Redacted], and SCP-3208. One D class personnel, D-11286, was chosen for the interpretation of messages received from SCP-3208 due to D-11286’s fluency in German, and historic Maritime knowledge. Communication was established at 14:17 on June 22nd, 1997 by D-11286, while being overseen by select NASA administration as well as Dr. Owens. First established communication between Foundation personnel and SCP-3208 translated into English is as follows:

14:17 06/22/1997: D-11286 “U-376, U-376, this is Unteroffizier William Bergmann of the. Do you receive me? Over.”
14:21 06/22/1997: SCP-3208 “Ensign, this is Kapitanleutnant Friedrich-Karl Marks. We receive you. Over.”
14:24 06/22/1997: D-11286 “Kptlt. are you aware of your current position? Over”
14:31 06/22/1997: SCP-3208 “Ensign, using our radar, star maps, and periscope, I believe we are currently just outside of Saturn’s orbital field. Can you confirm our position? Over.”
14:37 06/22/1997: D-11286 “Kptlt. that is just about right. Are you aware how you arrived at this location? Over.”
Radio silence was observed from SCP-3208 for 31 minutes and 17 seconds.
15:08 06/22/1997: SCP-3208 “By the power of the Third Reich, Unteroffizier.”
Radio communication was interrupted and could not be reestablished.
