Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx is not currently contained due to its’ elusive nature and the current lack of scientific understanding as to its’ properties and motivation. Instances of SCP-xxxx have been observed on site, though it is unknown how far it is able to travel and how many other instances of it there are, if any. If any personnel or subjects see or are approached by SCP-xxxx, said personnel are instructed not to engage with the entity and are to be kept under observation for at least two weeks following the encounter, with extensions if reporting feelings of paranoia.

Description: SCP-xxxx is an incorporeal entity that targets those with dissociative disorders, such as depersonalization and/or derealization disorder. Only individuals who experience these disorders have been able to see, hear, and sense the entity without extenuating circumstances, such as sensory deprivation or [DATA EXPUNGED].
Foundation researchers and psychoanalysts were able to determine that this entity is indeed an anomaly and not simply a hallucination due to the nature of the disorders of it’s victims and Incident XXXX-01.
SCP-xxxx has been described as a tall, attractive man, despite having no definitive features. Visual descriptions have been minimal, usually describing the entity as a shadow or silhouette. Those who come into contact with it instead describe a “seductive” energy, a sense of being well coerced by a man who is “undeniably likeable”. After initial contact is made, the victim’s feelings of dissociation increase markedly, and with them, the entity's ability to interact with and manipulate its victim. Survivors report feelings of physical contact, such as the holding of hands, brushing of hair, stroking of cheeks, regardless of whether or not the entity is currently visible. As contact increases, victims will begin to hear SCP-xxxx speak to them - at first, at night before sleeping, singing them songs and stroking their face in a comforting manner. If contact continues from this point, the victim will continue to feel further from reality, and closer to the entity, who begins to try and convince them to “give in” and “let go of this false reality”. They may interact visibly with the entity regardless of social circumstances, regarding SCP-xxxx as more or as real as the world around them. At this point the victim is so far into derealization that they are no longer aware of most of their interactions with other humans. They may abandon work or schooling, or do so with minimal effort and memory retention. The entity then begins telling it’s victim of all the wondrous things it can do for them, including but not limited too:

  • An eternal, dream like state where in the victim's wishes will come true
  • Unconditional companionship and love
  • A new reality in which in victim will have ultimate power
  • [DATA EXPUNGED]

If the victim should at any point accept these offers, the entity will then “take them with him”, causing their bodies to fade from existence through unknown means.

Further Notes: Experiments have been conducted to further understand the nature and motivation of SCP-xxxx. Individuals without dissociative disorders placed in sensory deprivation have reported instances of SCP-xxxx, describing it as different and more real than their other hallucinations. When removed from sensory deprivation, 78% of subjects no longer felt SCP-xxxx’s presence, although some have reported seeing it in dreams after the experiment. The other 22% experienced [DATA EXPUNGED]. All personnel involved in these tests have been administered Class-A amnesiacs and are under discreet observation.
Various cases of dissociated individuals have reported to psychologists instances of feeling “someone tempting them to let go of reality.” These instances have been handled with a recommendation for increased sensory input, and in extreme cases, individuals have been taken to SCP facilities for research and prevention of SCP-xxxx's attacks. MTF Iota-3 “Reality Ensues” has been assigned to identify and investigate similar cases of missing persons precedented by a sudden worsening of dissociative symptoms. Several foundation psychologists have been planted in various mental institutions and facilities in order to take preventive measures against any instances of SCP-xxxx and transfer severely dissociated victims to [REDACTED] in an effort to lure and contain the entity. No containment attempts have been successful.
It is concluded that SCP-xxxx preys on those further from reality and individuals that can be easily convinced that our reality is false. It does not appear to be particularly persistent towards its’ victims, and those who are treated and kept under institution monitoring are able to recover from its’ pursuit.

Incident XXXX-01: Dr. █████ was seen via security footage speaking with a seemingly empty corner of her office. She is seen nodding, crying, and then reaching out her hand for someone. For a brief moment on the footage, SCP-xxxx can be seen taking her extended hand. Descriptions of SCP-xxxx match the seen entity, with the addition of two white spheres inside the head of the figure, believed to be its’ eyes. When contact is made, Dr. █████ began to fade, her limbs first becoming translucent and then no longer visible. The phenomenon spread until she had completely disappeared. The vanishing process takes 6.7 seconds. She showed no signs of distress during this process. She has not been seen, heard, or in any way sensed or observed since the incident - it is believed that SCP-xxxx did in fact erase her from our reality, though it's means of doing so are unknown. Footage of the incident is kept in [REDACTED] for further research. All personnel who view the footage are to be kept under observation. In the weeks prior to the incident, Dr. █████ was reportedly distant, quiet, and lethargic. As the day of the incident grew closer, she was seen muttering to herself often and reacting to contact where none was visibly made.

Addendum-xxxx-01: Several documents have been discovered dating as far back as 16██, describing a tall, seductive man luring the victims away from reality. One document dated ██/██/██, found in the home of a young woman who went missing, translated from ██████ reads: “I see him sometimes, hear his voice in my head like honey. He comes to me as I rest and whispers of a new life, a life without hardship. He whispers of many things, sinful things, but I must confess I am tempted. This world is hardly real to me any more, it is hardly worth grasping too. God have mercy for I am weak and his hands upon my shoulders are strong. I fear I may not last, I fear I may give in to his call.”
Other documents have occasionally expressed similar feelings of fear and hesitation, but as all were found in homes of confirmed missing persons, whose bodies and whereabouts were never recovered, it is assumed that the authors became victims of SCP-xxxx. This would indicate SCP-xxxx’s age at at least ████ years, although it is unconfirmed how long this entity has existed or how it came to be.

Addendum-xxxx-02: Regarding Incident xxxx-002: Patient xxxx-█ disappeared while in institute care. Video surveillance of the patients habitation depicted the patient entering the vanishing process while sleeping. Patient xxxx-█ had been transported by institute personnel to facility ████-████ one week prior to the incident, after institute planted psychologist Dr. Annin at [REDACTED] reported the patient rambling about a man trying to “take [him] away” and repeatedly engaging in self-harmful behaviour in an attempt to “stay here, stay attached, stay real”. Patient xxxx-█ was undergoing therapy and constant observation to prevent the self inflicted injuries from growing dangerous. Despite this, his state grew increasingly panicked and detached.
An hour prior to his disappearance, footage shows Patient xxxx-█ writing on his walls with a marker he acquired earlier. He had expressed previous to his relocation that writing helped him “feel more real”, and his final moments appear to be a desperate attempt to engage this feeling. When the space of the walls of his habitants were filled, the patient began to write on his own skin, before succumbing to exhaustion both physical and induced by the marker fumes. “Hes coming hes coming hell take me hes coming hes coming” (sic) repeated continually, occasionally punctuated by fierce, illegible scribbles and crude drawings of a shadowy figure. Approximately five minutes after the patient fell unconscious, SCP-xxxx became visible and removed Patient xxxx-█ from existence.
This new information allows us to conclude that while SCP-xxxx prefers to take its victims by convincing them to come with it, it does not actually require the consent of its victim. It merely requires the victim to be in a sufficiently vulnerable state.
Attempts to capture the entity by security personnel during its attack failed, due to the incorporeal nature of SCP-xxxx and the personnels’ the lack of ability to see, sense or hear it. No additional lives were lost, though personnel exposed to the event are currently under observation to confirm that none will become future targets. Preventive measures against SCP-xxxx have been increased as of the incident.
