Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3023 is to be kept on a concrete 12x12 concrete platform in a standard holding cell. The cell is to have a single door lock. Level 1 or Higher personel can approve testing. is to be kept in a 12x12 soundproof glass container. The glass container should be no less than 8 centimeters thick and should be contained in a concrete holding cell at all times in Sector-██. The cell doors are to be double sealed constantly with the exception of letting personnel in and out for testing. Research testing is to be approved by Level 2 or Higher Personnel.

Description: SCP-3023 appears to be a 1980's tape recorder. While primarily deactivated, security footage reveals SCP-3023 turning on and off at will.

SCP-3023 was discovered in the basement of an old church located in ████████ by
Dr. [REDACTED]. When testing with SCP-3023, subjects report music that resembles "30's Jazz". Minutes after beginning to listen to SCP-3023, Subjects complain about headaches and nausea. Following the nausea, test subjects begin to snicker and giggle uncontrollably despite threats and insults. An hour after listening to SCP-3023, subject fall unconscious for a long period of time. Subjects that re-awaken have reported to be impatient, restless, and ill tempered. Questioning from Dr. [REDACTED] has shown subjects desperate to continue to listening to SCP-3023. Within 24 hours, any subjects who have not listened to SCP-3023 again, fall unconscious once more. Subjects who have listened to the tape once more, continue the same mood cycle until falling unconscious. Subjects remain in a comatose for 3-6 hours before re-awakening. Subjects then become extremely hostile and agitated beyond reason. Hostile subjects have been deemed SCP-3023-1. SCP-3023-1 proceeds to attack anyone in view. After further testing, the only way to calm down SCP-3023-1 is to play SCP-3023 constantly. When the music has ceased, SCP-3023-1 will return to a hostile state. After dissecting SCP-3023-1, the ear drums have been noticeably perforated along with unexplained bone fractures in the lower arm region.

Additional Notes:

*Any attempts to replace SCP-3023's cassette tape results in high pitched static. Reportedly has no effect on subjects.
