Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the immobile nature of SCP-XXXX, Provisional Site-XXXX-Theta has been established 1 kilometer outside of SCP-XXXX's area of effect. Site-XXXX-Theta is to operate under the title "Corden Chemical Co.", and is to take the appearance of a chemical company. Ownership claims to the surrounding area are to be renewed and enforced. Trespassers are to be taken into custody, given Class-A Amnestics, and released. Foundation agents within the local and state governments are to monitor for any proposals regarding developing SCP-XXXX's area, and are to do what they can in order to halt or divert the project.

All non-foundation attempts at communication into SCP-XXXX are to be intercepted and shut down. The current foundation cover-story is that SCP-XXXX and the surrounding area are currently unaccessible to the public due to a toxic chemical leak, and that all previous residents of SCP-XXXX have been evacuated. The appropriate documents have been created and released.

All personnel entering SCP-XXXX must be equipped with a timer counting down from an hour. Any and all interaction with SCP-XXXX-1 instances is forbidden. Personnel that have remained within SCP-XXXX, or that have interacted with SCP-XXXX-1, are to be considered lost, and no communication and rescue attempts should be made.

Description:

Addendum:
Test XXXX-A - ██/█/████

Subject: D-18535
Procedure: D-18535 positioned directly next to SCP-XXXX. Subject was then told to remain inside SCP-XXXX's illuminated area for the duration of the test. SCP-XXXX was then turned on, testing room sealed, and external light sources were deactivated. Following a duration of 5 minutes, lighting was restored to the room.
Results: Subject was recovered unharmed. When questioned, subject reported nothing unusual about his surroundings, but did claim to have heard extremely faint breathing and scratching from the area surrounding SCP-XXXX.

Test XXXX-B - ██/█/████

Subject: D-18539 and D-18546
Procedure: Both D-Class were subject to the effects of SCP-XXXX. D-18539 was told to venture outside of SCP-XXXX's lit area for 2.5 minutes, and then to return. D-18546 was told to remain inside SCP-XXXX's lit area. Both subjects were provided with headsets to allow communication between them both. SCP-XXXX was then turned on, the room was sealed, and all external light sources deactivated. After 5 minutes, external lighting was restored.
Results: Subject D-18546 was recovered unharmed. D-18539 did not reappear. During debriefing, Subject revealed that shortly after D-18539 left the illuminated area, he began reporting small quiet footsteps, and a few seconds later, a faint raspy voice whispering unintelligibly to him. D-18539 apparently began expressing more and more agitation and fear, as well as reporting that the whispering and footsteps were growing louder. At approximately 3.8 minutes into the test, D-18539 began screaming as SCP-XXXX-1 apparently began to attack him. D-18539 then fell silent, and presumably expired a minute later. D-18546 did not report hearing any noises from then entity, nor was he able to see it.

Test XXXX-C - ██/█/████

Subject: D-18639 and D-18596. D-18639 was a former member of the ████████ special forces.
Procedure: Both D-Class were subject to the effects of SCP-XXXX. D-18639 was told to venture outside of SCP-XXXX's lit area for 2.5 minutes, and then to return. D-18639 was also provided with a machete and body armor, and was instructed to apprehend SCP-XXXX-1 and return him to the lit area. D-18596 was told to remain inside SCP-XXXX's lit area. Both subjects were provided with headsets to allow communication between them both. SCP-XXXX was then turned on, the room was sealed, and all external light sources deactivated. After 5 minutes, external lighting was restored.
Results: Both subjects were recovered from test. D-18596 was unharmed, while D-18639 was severely wounded. Injuries consisted of crushed ribcage and mid-face structure, multiple severe lacerations around the torso and neck, and a [REDACTED] which suggests that he had been [REDACTED] during the experiment. D-18639 was unable to receive medical care in time, and expired 3 minutes after the test. D-18596 reported similar events to Text XXXX-B, however, D-18639 had reported a continuous scraping sound and heavier uneven footsteps. D-18596 notes that during the conversations the two shared while under SCP-XXXX's effects, D-18639 joked about being [REDACTED] while in the darkness. 3 minutes into the test, D-18639 was attacked by SCP-XXXX-1. After being unable to apprehend the entity, the subject retreated back to the lit area as fast as his injuries would allow him. D-18596 reported that SCP-XXXX-1 did not make itself visible during the event and had seemingly stopped pursuing D-18639 when he reached the lit area.

_Test XXXX-D - ██/█/████__

Subject: D-20767
Procedure: The same procedures from previous experiments were repeated. However, prior to the experiment, D-20767 was told that SCP-XXXX would transfer him to a world of "nocturnal unicorns".
Results: Subject was recovered with severe injuries, including several complete gaping wounds as a result of forced penetration, numerous bruises all over his body, and several bite marks of equine origins. Interestingly enough, despite the severity of the wounds, D-20767 was unable to die from his injuries, but still stated that he could feel the pain. Subject was euthanized by incineration.

It would seem that SCP-XXXX-1 instances are not only able to change their appearance based on the perceptions of exposed subjects, but are also able to take on perceived abilities as well. However, even if the perceived ability is positive by nature, it will still be used to harm the subject should there be any feelings of fear or belief that the entity will cause them harm.
