Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is held in Bio-Site-66, overseen by three (3) separate observation decks. At least one (1) agent of MTF Beta-7 (“Maz Hatters”) armed with an incendiary weapon is to regularly observe containment of SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX's containment chamber is 44.5 meters square and is composed of oxidation-retardant alloys. In order to prevent decay of its containment chamber, discharge from SCP-XXXX is to be removed. The containment chamber of SCP-XXXX is to be inspected every secretion period for unknown fluids. Any unknown fluids secreted from SCP-XXXX are to be reported to research staff for analysis. In order to prevent any erratic secretions, SCP-XXXX-1 is to be provided 2.3 kg of ground beef or chicken every 96 hours.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a standard twin sized bed, 96 cm x 190 cm in size. SCP-XXXX's frame is composed of low-quality PVC vinyl and is in very poor condition. SCP-XXXX lacks all typical bed adornments, including blankets, pillows, and sheets. SCP-XXXX is typically covered in a thick, brown, mucus like fluid, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX secretes SCP-XXXX-1 at regular intervals during a daily cycle, approximately 170.34 liters of SCP-XXXX-1 every 24 hours. These secretions originate from small porous fibers that make up SCP-XXXX’s exterior surface. These pores can expand and contract, allowing for controlled secretions of SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX as it appeared upon recovery.

Sample testing has shown that SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 are composed of similar biological material to one another. SCP-XXXX does not appear to have any internal structure, organs, or identifying labels apart from large quantities of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 is composed of previously “digested” material, as well as several unidentified fungal bacteria.

SCP-XXXX-1 is extremely viscous, with a consistency similar to honey (approximately 10,000 mpa·s), and appears to be slightly corrosive, with a pH of 3.5, relative to gastric acid in humans. This acidity combined with the fungal and bacterial composition of SCP-XXXX-1 allows for accelerated decay of biological matter SCP-XXXX has consumed. Digestion of biological material takes approximately 160 minutes. When biological material has completed digesting, SCP-XXXX will discharge an amount of diluted fluid equivilent to the material's original weight.

When undisturbed, SCP-XXXX-1 is observed to exert various movements as if the substance is “alive”. It is believed that the fluid movements are a result of SCP-XXXX-1’s non-Newtonian nature, combined with vibrations from an unidentifiable source. Despite this, SCP-XXXX-1 does not appear to move in any particular patterns, and has not been deemed sentient. SCP-XXXX-1 is highly adherent, and tends to stick to almost any surface it comes into contact with.1

When organic matter is placed upon SCP-XXXX for a certain duration, SCP-XXXX will become hostile, and secrete SCP-XXXX-1 in substantial volumes, effectively consuming the organic material. The amount of time elapsed before this event takes place varies based on the mass of the organic matter placed upon SCP-XXXX [See Testing Logs] but is confirmed to take approximately 12 seconds per kilogram to activate. Notably, SCP-XXXX will consume organic matter regardless of what classification of organism it derives from (animalia, plantae, basidiomycetes, etc.), and if the matter is deceased or not.

Cleaning regulations of SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX can go for extended periods of time without consuming any organic matter. Though the exact amount of time is currently unknown, multiple tests have shown SCP-XXXX can go from 2 to 6 weeks without any sustenance. SCP-XXXX undergoes a very simplified dormancy cycle, and becomes completely inactive for a significant duration. SCP-XXXX is capable of completely ceasing SCP-XXXX-1 production by closing its secretion pores. This allows for excess biological material to remain inside of SCP-XXXX, which removes the need for feeding temporarily. However, overtime SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to erode organic material due to its own corrosive properties. This generally results in abrupt acceleration of fluid production, quickly flooding nearby proximities with large quantities of SCP-XXXX-1.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX was recovered inside of an abandoned methamphetamine laboratory located in █████, Wyoming on an unknown date. The foundation was notified of SCP-XXXX after multiple persons who had recently investigated the scene were reported missing. SCP-XXXX was discovered in an inactive state with several partially digested, unidentified individuals. Analysis had shown SCP-XXXX-1 contained DNA strains of 56 individuals, all of which were believed to originate from the recovery site. Several other unknown biological DNA strains were found in SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX was successfully contained with no casualties.
