Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is stored in a locked glass cabinet in room B-02 at Site-137. The cabinet contains a wall bracket fitting specifically to secure SCP-XXXX. The keys to the cabinet are to be kept with Father Andreas DeMarco in his office on E floor. Anyone requiring access can contact internal switchboard or submit a formal request. The use and operation of SCP-XXXX are expressly forbidden without permission of the director of Site-173 or any other individual with equivalent security clearance. In circumstances where it becomes necessary to utilize or examine SCP-XXXX, personnel are reminded to note its use in the logbook in E-105. The logbook is audited biannually with facsimiles to be sent to Site-01 for record keeping.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an industrial make 9 liter dull red fire extinguisher in worn condition weighing 23kg. A panel welded to the side measuring 10 x 30 cm contains instructions for use in Aramaic as well as quotes from the biblical books of Genesis (2:7) and Job (33:4), alongside a Rabbinic essay written in Bohemian which dates to the 16th century (see Document-2381-b).
Upon compressing the handle, SCP-XXXX emits a colorless gas spray at a rate of ██.█cm3/s. If the spray is directed over an inanimate object resembling a human or animal the spray has the effect of animating them, seemingly permanently. The spray produces no effect on living beings (See Test Log B). The gas is described as smelling pleasant, though exposed subjects were unable to classify what it resembled. Extensive testing by Site-137 personnel have clarified that the spray must originate from SCP-XXXX in order that its effects be exerted on a subject. Samples of gas extracted from the nozzle have shown compositions, partial pressures and temperatures consistent with air.

Test Log A - ██/██/20██

Subject: A scale sculpture of a man human prepared by [REDACTED] from ██ kg of clay (SCP-XXXX-1).
Procedure: The nozzle of SCP-XXXX was directed over SCP-XXXX-1 by Father Andreas DeMarco. 2 minutes passed before the sculpture animated and began conversing in Hebrew. SCP-XXXX-1 understood simple instructions and was lead around the room by Father DeMarco. When Father DeMarco spoke ‘met’ in its ear (as instructed by Document-XXXX-b), SCP-XXXX-1 became inanimate. Further testing five minutes later produced the same result. Under the guise of an art installation, the inanimate form of SCP-XXXX-1 was sent to Site-██.

Test Log B - ██/██/20██

Subject: D-XXXX-1. A D-class personnel of Abrahamic faith in good health.
Procedure: SCP-XXXX-1 was held before the subject and sprayed by a researcher for 5 minutes. The subject was observed for 2 hours and a number of aptitude tests carried out. Monitoring of D-XXXX-1’s vital signs revealed no change in this time. Evidently SCP-XXXX has no effect on living objects. All testing to date has been concordant with this conclusion.

Test Log C - ██/██/20██

Subject: The corpse of D-████-6 killed through exposure to SCP-████ two days prior.
Procedure: As before, SCP-XXXX was used on the corpse for the period of 5 minutes. No changes were observed. D-████-6 did not animate. SCP-XXXX’s effects do not extend to resurrecting cadavers.

Test Log D - ██/██/20██

Subject: Another sculpture measuring 6 cm in height, produced as a miniature of a bird (referred to as SCP-XXXX-2 following conclusion of the experiment).
Procedure: An empty oxygen cylinder of capacity 58 liters was used to contain the extract of SCP-XXXX. Once filled, the cylinder was wheeled into a separate room where SCP-XXXX-2 was contained in a small vacuum chamber. The chamber was flooded with the contents of the oxygen cylinder until normal atmospheric pressure was reached. The remaining gas was taken for analysis. SCP-XXXX-2 did not animate. The gas from SCP-XXXX is inert unless it is emitted directly from the end of the nozzle. Seemingly it cannot stored for later purpose.

Test Log E - ██/██/20██

Subject: SCP-XXXX-2
Procedure: SCP-XXXX-2 was held under the nozzle for 3 minutes whereupon it reanimated and took flight. Following its capture, SCP-XXXX-2 was ‘vivisected’ to inspect for any internal structures formed. Examination revealed a complex system of organs and tissues similar to Turdus rufiventris. SCP-XXXX-2 expired shortly after the first incision upon which its flesh became fragments of clay. Analysis of the clay utilized in its structure found no alterations to its composition.
