Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a 3 x 3 x 2 meter large room located in Site-340's Safe Wing. SCP-XXXX is contained in a password-locked box placed on a small 70 x 70 x 30 centimeter table. This room is named Containment Room A, and requires level 3 security clearance to enter.
Located next to SCP-XXXX is a larger room used for storing tea, water, and sugar. This room is named Containment Room B, and requires level 2 security clearance to enter.
Containment Room B is not to be used for recreational purposes, and is only to be used for SCP-XXXX testing. Any personnel testing on SCP-XXXX will be searched before entering SCP-XXXX's containment chamber.
NOTE: When removing SCP-XXXX-A, SCP-XXXX must be drained slowly by use of robotic arm to avoid damage to Site-340.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a mug composed of ceramic, painted blue on its interior and exterior. SCP-XXXX was discovered on ██/█/2017 and was found in possession of S█████ ████ after reports of clouds seen over S█████ ████'s residence suddenly disappearing. S█████ ████ was located and tranquilized before they could affect SCP-XXXX any further. Witnesses were administered Class-A amnestics.
SCP-XXXX is physically non-anomalous, and can be used to hold water without activating its anomalous effect. SCP-XXXX's anomalous effect occurs when it is filled with boiling water and has had a tea bag1 placed in it for at least 2 minutes. When the tea bag is removed, all cloud formations within a diameter of 8 kilometers around SCP-XXXX instantly disappear. This event is named Event Alpha.
When non-artificial sugar2 is placed into SCP-XXXX, small clouds of sugar form in SCP-XXXX's liquid. These small clouds of sugar are designated SCP-XXXX-1, and the liquid contents of SCP-XXXX are designated SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX-1 instances form clouds above SCP-XXXX, which are designated SCP-XXXX-2.
SCP-XXXX-2's distance from SCP-XXXX depends on the amount of liquid contained in SCP-XXXX. The distance between SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX, measured in kilometers, is the distance between the bottom of SCP-XXXX and the surface of SCP-XXXX-A, measured in centimeters, multiplied by 100,000. SCP-XXXX-2 is created by the clouds that are removed by Event Alpha. If the clouds removed by Event Alpha are not big enough to create SCP-XXXX-2 instances, clouds near SCP-XXXX's area of effect will be used to create SCP-XXXX-2.
Every kilometer of air affected by SCP-XXXX, designated SCP-XXXX-B, will proportionally react to the changes caused to every centimeter of SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX-2 instances will completely disappear and SCP-XXXX-B will lose its connection to SCP-XXXX when SCP-XXXX-A is removed from SCP-XXXX.
If any movement of SCP-XXXX-A causes SCP-XXXX-B to move faster than 34.3 meters per second3, SCP-XXXX-2 will move at the speed produced, but will not affect the environment around it while moving. SCP-XXXX-B will move at the speed produced, but will only show effects of air moving at 34.3 meters per second.
Format
SCP-XXXX-2 Formations: Yes or no.
Purpose: The purpose of the experiment.
Procedure: How the experiment will be performed.
Result: The effect of the experiment.
Conclusion: What was learned from the experiment.
Test 1: Warm Water
SCP-XXXX-2 Formations: No
Purpose: To observe the effects of warm water on SCP-XXXX-A.
Procedure: A tea bag containing green tea was placed inside of SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX was filled with warm water (68° F / 20° C / 293.15° K). The tea bag was left inside of SCP-XXXX for two minutes and taken out. SCP-XXXX was filled with one teaspoon of sucrose.
Result: SCP-XXXX's liquid was not converted into SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-2 instances were not created.
Conclusion: SCP-XXXX must be filled with boiling or near-boiling water.
Test 2: Artificial Sugar
SCP-XXXX-2 Formations: No
Purpose: To observe the effects of artificial sugar on SCP-XXXX-A.
Procedure: A tea bag containing green tea was placed inside of SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX was filled with boiling water. The tea bag was left inside of SCP-XXXX for two minutes and taken out. SCP-XXXX was filled with one teaspoon of aspartame.
Result: SCP-XXXX's liquid was not converted into SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-2 instances were not created.
Conclusion: SCP-XXXX must use non-artificial sugar.
Test 3: Different Type
SCP-XXXX-2 Formations: Yes
Purpose: To observe the effects of black tea on SCP-XXXX-A.
Procedure: A tea bag containing black tea was placed inside of SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX was filled with boiling water. The tea bag was left inside of SCP-XXXX for two minutes and taken out. SCP-XXXX was filled with one teaspoon of sucrose.
Result: SCP-XXXX's liquid was converted into SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-1 was formed. Several SCP-XXXX-2 instances appeared 5 kilometers above SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX was quickly emptied before serious damage could be done to Site-340.
Conclusion: Different brands or types of tea do not affect SCP-XXXX differently.
Test 4: Other Liquids
SCP-XXXX-2 Formations: No
Purpose: To observe the effects liquid mercury has on SCP-XXXX-A.
Procedure: A tea bag containing green tea was placed inside of SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX was filled with liquid mercury.
Conclusion: SCP-XXXX cannot use liquids other than water.
Test 5: Effects of SCP-XXXX-A
SCP-XXXX-2 Formations: Yes
Purpose: To observe the environmental effects of moving SCP-XXXX-A.
Procedure: This test was taken 10 kilometers away from Site-340. A tea bag containing green tea was placed inside of SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX was filled with boiling water. The tea bag was left inside of SCP-XXXX for two minutes and taken out. SCP-XXXX was filled with one teaspoon of sucrose. When SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 instances started to form, SCP-XXXX-A was pushed by robotic arm and accelerated to 1 millimeter per second.
SCP-XXXX-B formed winds moving towards the testing area at 34.3 meters per second and damaged the testing area. Personnel were evacuated into an underground shelter nearby and were unharmed by the winds. SCP-XXXX's protective casing was damaged and SCP-XXXX was knocked over, instantly removing the wind and SCP-XXXX-2 instances.
Conclusion: Even slight changes to SCP-XXXX-A's position will create strong and dangerous winds. SCP-XXXX's containment procedures will be changed to prevent this from happening again.
