Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept in a Petri dish sealed in a small thermoplastic container in Site-██'s laboratory number ███. Level-2 security clearance is required for testing of SCP-XXXX-1 anomalous properties.

SCP-XXXX-2 is to be closely observed in all instances affected. Each of them are to be kept in Site-██'s zoologic laboratories under keen study.

Description: SCP-XXXX is composed of two known instances:

  • SCP-XXXX-1, an extremely virulent pathogen of unknown origin; it is responsible for the onset of SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-1 displays resistance superior to the most resilient extremophiles1 A careful microscopic analysis reveals SCP-XXXX-1's genetic makeup to be completely different of any known organic lifeforms on Earth. It measures less than 12 nanometers. Radiocarbon dating precedes the anthropocene, suggesting SCP-XXXX-1 most likely exists since the Pre-Cambrian era2.
  • SCP-XXXX-2, the result of exposure of any organic lifeform to SCP-XXXX-1, is a syndrome tentatively named by the Foundation researchers as Acquired Forced Evolutionary Syndrome (AFES). It is currently unknown how SCP-XXXX-1 induces SCP-XXXX-2; what is known is that contact with the pathogen always results in the syndrome.

Whenever a lifeform is exposed to SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2 ensues. SCP-XXXX-2 induces adaptive changes on the organism, effectively changing the natural evolutionary process on any living being. These changes do not appear to be limited to a species' natural restrictions as SCP-XXXX-2 has shown the ability to bypass the logical process evolution takes. Please refer to Experiment Logs for further details.

Special Containment Procedures:

Description: SCP-XXXX is the doctoral thesis of T████████████ C██████, entitled "The Theory and Practice of Metaphysical Birth, Death and Redeath", written in a bound paper document of ███ pages and published circa 194█. The document itself presents no anomalous properties and physically manipulating it presents no danger whatsoever.

The document, when read, is divided in two volumes: The first describes the groundwork of T████████████ C██████'s theory, spanning the historical, sociological and axiological construction of the concepts of "Life" and "Death" and, in h██ own terms, how "these concepts are fundamentally inaccurate, being, therefore, misunderstood since the dawn of humanity".
The bulk of the first volume describes T████████████ C██████'s thesis that "Life" and "Death" are not antithetical to each other, neither are they one and the same, but that these concepts do not exist at all.
The second volume goes on to describe
