Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Access to the area designated SCP-XXXX is to be restricted to authorized personnel only. Unauthorized personnel who are exposed to SCP-XXXX will be treated with amnestics and reassigned. The only entrance is to be securely locked and monitored at all times by CCTV. Personnel authorized to enter SCP-XXXX must wear hearing protection and vision blurring goggles, and should not speak at all times while inside.
Tests and other procedures involving SCP-XXXX must be approved by the ethics committee.
No infohazardous anomalies should be exposed to SCP-XXXX under any circumstances.
Description: SCP-XXXX is fixed area located in ████████ British Columbia, Canada. The cognitohazardous effects caused by SCP-XXXX manifest when a person within the area understands a statement in language, either spoken or written. The effect is such that the reader internalizes and fully believes whatever is stated. Beliefs acquired this way persist indefinitely and have even been shown to strengthen over time in many subjects.
Testing has show that there are almost no limits to what beliefs can be incurred through exposure to SCP-XXXX. In some cases, subjects will even have vivid hallucinations in order to maintain their conviction. For example, a subject who was told that he was with his two pet dogs
idea too similar to other things, on hold but I really want to revive it somehow
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX-1 through -4 are to be stored individually in standard fragile item lockers in the Site-77 Safe SCP wing. The active face of all items are to be concealed at all times when not involved in active research and the lockers padlocked. SCP-XXX-5 is to be stored separately in a fragile item safe and password locked, requiring additional identification of a level four (4) site administrator for access.
All personnel wishing to make use of SCP-XXX-1 or -2 or must make a formal request to the appropriate authority. Access to any instance except -5 is to be recorded and supervised by at least one security officer to assure proper care is taken.
Non research related access to SCP-XXX-5 is strictly prohibited.
Description: SCP-XXX is a collection of 5 mirrors of varying size, condition, and appearance. The reflective side of each item shows a normal reflection projected a certain amount of time into the future or the past varying from -10 to +10 minutes.
Individual item descriptions:
- A frame-less square mirror, chamfered at 45 degrees, with an area of 4000 square centimeters (note measurements have changed as the object has been divided into smaller peices. Unscratched surface. Reflective distortion of 10 minutes into the past.
- An unbranded round pocket mirror 6 cm in diameter, original folding plastic frame with empty cosmetics tray. Found with a small brush and a large crack down the center of the mirror. Reflective distortion of 5 minutes into the past.
- A round two sided mirror with a diameter of 10 cm and a stainless steel frame. Mounted on a matching stand with a joint, allowing the mirror to rotate horizontally from one face to the other. One side is slightly magnified and both have minimal wear. Reflective distortion of 5 minutes into the future.
- An elliptical mirror with an antique brass frame patterned with flowers. A long diameter of 35 cm and a short of 20 cm. Slight scuffing around the edge. Reflective distortion of 10 minutes into the future.
- A full length slightly rounded rectangular mirror with an polished oak frame. Surface area of 1.1 square meters. No noticeable wear. 0t reflective distortion though other anomalous effects remain active.
The reflections from SCP-XXX-3 and -4 are reasonably accurate to the future of the present position of the object.
Likewise the reflections from SCP-XXX-1 and -2 remain unaltered and accurate to the past of the present position of the object. To clarify, if SCP-XXX-2’s reflective side faced a red wall, then five minutes later was moved to face a blue wall, the reflected image would be blue (assuming the blue wall was still blue at least five minutes ago).
Further anomalous behaviors manifest when an individual attempts to alter the predicted image of SCP-XXX-3 or -4 (Tests attempting the contradiction of -1 or -2 pending approval). If someone, having perceived the reflection, contradicts the prediction, they will have their memory anomalously altered by the object. Their memory of the prediction will oppose the original prediction, they will then undo their act if possible, thinking that they have successfully contradicted the prediction remembered by their altered memory. The memories of all those who witnessed the initial prediction are modified similarly. If the individual who altered the predicted reflection was not aware of the reflection, their memory will remain intact but all those who have witnessed the prediction will still be subjected to the mental effects, even if they did not witness the scene's alteration.
SCP-XXXX-5 also demonstrates these anomalous properties, though in a much different way due to the lack of time distortion. Subjects seeing the reflection in SCP-XXXX-5 are unable to form memories, and their nervous systems are therefore [REDACTED]. All subjects experience convulsions and cardiac arrest until death or removal of -5.
“It appears that any action performed within the range of -5 is a contradiction of the objects reflection, that is to say, the present, constantly triggering the same cognitive effects of the other items.”
on hold, nowhere to go/ lost interest
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a large insulated storage locker and constantly monitored by thermal cameras and thermometers. Emergency flash cooling systems and bomb disposal equipment is to be posted in or around the storage locker and deployed if the temperature of SCP-XXXX climbs above 2000 degrees Celcius (1300 Kelvin). Primary ventilation is to be constantly applied with an added backup generator. woah
All but material testing has been postponed indefinitely.
Description: SCP-XXXX is 3 large coils of tungsten filament, 100 meters each.
This page is where I dump ideas and things for use in the incredible future!
Draft I
Draft III
Main Plan
- SCP article
- Class: safe
- Primary Idea: The idea is that one day, an incandescent light bulb and/or vacuum tube plant received a shipment of tungsten filament (the hot wire that glows). During one of their routine quality control tests, disaster struck when a light bulb was lit and everything it's light touched was scalded by intense light and blown apart by a strong shock wave. The theory goes that the filament becomes sun-like in effect when heated above 3300 degrees Kelvin (or 3000 Celcius: avg. incandescent filament temp.), producing intense heat, radiation, and pressure through atomic fusion. These effects are nigh impossible to study, not only because of the mentioned dangers, but because the pressure and heat violently break the circuit of the bulb and destroy the filament entirely, obviously ceasing the effect very quickly.
This idea needs something to make people care/react emotionally. one idea is that many of the bulbs have been shipped out, or the SCP was discovered through an investigation into a series of mysterious and violent bombings with no traceable bomber.
could be offensive
Draft II
Main Plan
- SCP article (OOC Title: "hour-glass" ;D why not ?)
- Class: safe
- Primary Idea: I want to write about a mirror (or several mirrors) that show a delayed or predictive reflection. This could be related to tests with SCP-914, with the very fine setting giving the result of ten minutes into the future (+10), fine (+5), 1:1 (0) other effects still present, coarse (-5), and finally the Rough setting at (-10).
- Other effects could include induced mental effects like paranoia and anxiety (to do with the future), or regret and post dramatic stress disorder (to do with the past), all triggered by prolonged exposure.
- Reflections would not be perfect, though, and would slowly differ from reality in unpredictable ways, these changes would only be noticeable after the reflection has reached the point when it reaches the image it should have been showing at the time it was first viewed 5 minutes, or reality catches up in the same way. This is the same point that the mental effects would begin to emerge.
- I realize that there is an anomalous object, #102 I believe, that is a "lagged" mirror; I had my idea before reading the item but I still think this a viable concept for a full blown article. I am also interested in having this interact with SCP-093 with a test/exploration log somewhere (maybe too ambitious).
Other Ideas
- Anomalous Item (Pending Revision): Item Description: A small collection of solar and battery powered pocket calculators that consistently give incorrect outputs when traditionally powered. The items do not need power and only give accurate outputs if the small solar cells are completely hidden from any light or batteries removed. Date of Recovery: ██/██/20██ Location of Recovery: ██████ accounting firm in ████, Mexico, after the firm filed for bankruptcy. Current Status: In office of Dr. ████. Clearly marked, in storage.
- SCP Article, currently Draft I: An area in which subjects completely believe any statements they hear or read. Beliefs bypass logic, the subject's brain will "fill in the blanks" if a belief requires more context or detail to be realized. Affected subjects who are aware of the nature of SCP-XXXX tend to believe that any beliefs incurred from the effect were actually beliefs they had prior to contact with SCP-XXXX. These beliefs resist typical strength amnestics but are consistantly curable with amnestics class-E and above.
