The interior of SCP-xxxx with the natural ocean immediately above.

Item #: SCP-xxxx

Object class: Euclid

Special containment procedures: A perimeter with a 10 kilometer radius has been established around SCP-xxxx. Security personnel are to hail vessels approaching the perimeter and advise them to reroute, as the area is a military weapon testing zone. Vessels that do not comply are to be detained and searched, and its crew is to be questioned before administering class-C amnestics and escorting the vessel away from SCP-xxxx.

The USS ████████, acquired by the Foundation and re-designated Site-54, has been stationed indefinitely above SCP-xxxx. In the event that instances of SCP-xxxx-1 attempt to exit SCP-xxxx, they are to be captured and released back into SCP-xxxx with minimal stress.

As of █/██/20██, Foundation personnel are to make no attempt to prevent fauna from entering SCP-xxxx. Instead, specimens are to be observed and documented in Site-54's log of SCP-xxxx-1 instances (Refer to Incident Log xxxx-2C).

Description: SCP-xxxx is a toroidal structure composed of at least 20 unidentified species of coral. Its opening 50 meters across, while the structure itself is 6 meters thick. SCP-xxxx is located in the Pacific Ocean at ██oS, ███oW at a depth of 15 meters. When an object descends into SCP-xxxx from above, it will enter a spatially anomalous region inconsistent with the geography of the surrounding ocean. Passing through SCP-xxxx from underneath its exterior does not trigger this effect. The upper portion of the space within SCP-xxxx resembles an underwater sinkhole (a "blue hole") equal in diameter to SCP-xxxx with a depth of 10km. Researchers have noted depth of the natural ocean outside SCP-xxxx does not exceed 2500m. Pressure increases and light levels decline corresponding to measured depth in this region. SCP-xxxx-1 are found in relatively low abundance here.

SCP-xxxx-1 are abnormal variations of aquatic life found within SCP-xxxx's spatial anomaly. While some instances resemble extant and extinct marine life, most are previously unidentified fauna or crosses between mundane species, often displaying traits of different phyla. Some examples of SCP-xxxx-2 include the following:

  • A hybrid between arothron hispidus and pterois miles
  • Multiple specimens of eurypharynx pelecanoides with six pairs of crustacean-like legs
  • An unidentified species of cetacean1
  • Negaprion brevirostris with its lateral line pores replaced by [REDACTED]
  • Ophthalmosaurus icenicus with multiple tentacles emerging from where each of its pectoral fins would otherwise be located

SCP-xxxx-1 have not yet been observed to leave SCP-xxxx, but Foundation staff are monitoring for behavior changes. SCP-xxxx-1 behave like the mundane species they most closely resemble. Those with largely cephalopod phenotypes have displayed behavior patterns suggesting greater intelligence than that of corresponding mundane species; studies to determine their level of cognition and social behavior are ongoing.

The lower region of SCP-xxxx begins beyond a depth of 10km. The region contains suspended masses of basaltic rock coated in sand and coral and range from 2m to over 30m diameter. The entrance to the lower space of SCP-xxxx is a tunnel exiting an exceptionally large mass measuring over 100m across. SCP-xxxx-1 exist in greatest abundance in this region of SCP-xxxx. Pressure drops to the equivalent of a 40m depth, and light level is equivalent to the same depth in full sunlight; these measurements appear to be uniform across the entire region2. The Foundation has not yet determined the extent of this region, but it is presumed to continue indefinitely in all directions.

Incident Log xxxx-2C: On █/██/20██ at approximately 1330 local time, a school of [REDACTED] was detected by sub-mounted cameras approaching SCP-xxxx. Foundation personnel deployed barrier cable nets around SCP-xxxx to prevent their entry. [DATA EXPUNGED] majority entered SCP-xxxx. Three (3) specimens were caught in the remaining netting and expired before personnel could release them. Genetic samples taken from the deceased specimens were inconsistent with any constituent species making up their phenotype. After this incident, special containment procedures were updated allow organisms to enter SCP-xxxx.

"Remember the Foundation's mission includes "protect." This protection extends to the objects we contain. What if those [REDACTED] were the only ones out there in the world? Who knows how much potential knowledge and data we'll lose if we haphazardly harm or terminate these entities? As such, we must treat all specimens as we would members of critically endangered species." -Doctor Kilbourne

Exploration Logs:

Here are some concepts that have not been drafted yet.

Fungus whose spores consume massive quantities of earth, forming small caverns. The organisms use the collapse of these caverns to further disperse new spores. Because the spores are so small, containing wild populations would be considerably difficult.

Item#: SCP-xxxx

Object class: Euclid

Special containment procedures: SCP-xxxx is to be contained in a vacuum chamber with a minimum radius of two (2) meters at Site-██. Electromagnets will surround the chamber powered by redundant energy systems to ensure that SCP-xxxx remains suspended in the center of the vacuum. Electromagnets and energy reserves are to be monitored and maintained by three (3) Level 2 engineering personnel.

Instances of produced antiprotons will be narrowed into a beam through electromagnetic means not to exceed one picometer (1pm) in width. Any available mundane fluid will be manipulated into a similar beam. Upon contact with the mundane material, the antiprotons will be annihilated whilst releasing high quantities of energy safely.

In the event of a containment breach, protocol xxxx-A will be conducted if antimatter was last generated within six (6) days. Any period of time exceeding this requires the fulfillment of protocol xxxx-B until the annihilation of antimatter has been witnessed. Protocol xxxx-A consists of removing SCP-xxxx from its container until vacuum can be reestablished, electromagnets repaired, or power resupplied. Protocol xxxx-B includes the temporary evacuation of all on-site staff and the immediate transfer of SCP-xxxx to the location designated "Black Zone" 5 km away from Site-██. After the has been observed, protocol xxxx-A will be reinstated. SCP-xxxx may only be removed for testing when protocol xxxx-A is in effect with clearance from one (1) Level-4 Personnel.

Description: SCP-xxxx resembles an ordinary, lidless mason jar measuring 20cm tall and 14cm in diameter. The interior of the jar, however, is a complete vacuum that extends to the edge of SCP-xxxx's rim. Atmospheric gasses will not enter this space within the entity. SCP-xxxx will, at an interval ranging from 1 to 3 weeks, generate and emit various quantities of antiprotons. The current range of observed quantity of antimatter has varied from twenty-three (23) atoms to greater than 6.022*10^23 antiprotons, the latter having a mass exceeding 1g. The highest quantity of antiprotons produced in one instance produced ███ terajoules, about as much energy released as [DATA EXPUNGED]. SCP-xxxx itself, however, is not annihilated when in contact with mundane substances or antimatter, and has withstood even the most powerful blasts produced by the annihilation of antimatter. Researchers have been unable to determine the object's composition.

SCP-xxxx was discovered in a crater about ██km from ███████, New Mexico, when locals began to describe the occurrence of "random flashes" and "occasional explosions" out in the desert. How SCP-xxxx came to be is a mystery given the total absence of previous anomalous activity in the area. Though the origins of SCP-xxxx are unknown, the object is believed to have existed at the location of recovery for less than █ years. An imbedded agent alerted the Foundation after a blast akin to an atomic bomb was witnessed by civilians, and a recovery team was dispatched to locate and take possession of SCP-xxxx. The Foundation circulated a cover story among the residents of ███████ that a weapons contractor was testing experimental weapons at the nearby flat and constructed a facility designated Site-██ to reinforce the cover-up.

Before the full extent of the object's anomalous properties were understood, a single instance of generated antiprotons caused an explosion killing █ researchers and injuring ██ others. Upon discovering the presence of antimatter, Doctor A██████ developed the object's current containment system and assumed the role of project head of SCP-xxxx.

Incident Log: On █/██/20██, assistant researcher Peters attempted to seal SCP-xxxx with a custom lid specifically created to match SCP-xxxx's dimensions. The test was conducted 2 days after the last appearance of antiprotons, but when the procedure was attempted, it [DATA EXPUNGED]. The bone in Peters' arm was completely shattered from the event, and superficial damage to the testing room was also reported. Further attempts to seal SCP-xxxx have been forbidden, and the expression "Put a lid on it!" has been discouraged. Researchers suggest that the event triggered a self-defense mechanism to prevent antimatter from accumulating.

"Jesus, how did it DO that?" - Assistant researcher Peters, after partial physical recovery

Addendum: Agent S████ has been assigned to monitor the AEGIS project and any breakthroughs made by non-Foundation personnel with regards to antimatter.
