Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the immobile nature of SCP-XXXX, Site-YY has been built around the anomaly, and an exclusion radius of 50 meters is to be maintained at all times. All instances of SCP-XXXX-2 approaching the Site are to be captured for further study, and none are to be allowed to contact SCP-XXXX except in the case of research approved and headed by Level 3 staff or higher. (See addendum). All personnel are to be given monthly psychological evaluations, and any personnel with recorded history of depression are to be kept away from Site-YY indefinitely. In the case of containment breach, all instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are to be immobilized and terminated as necessary.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a spherical mass approximately 7 meters in diameter composed of human cadavers that it attracts (prior to death) in an unknown fashion. Human individuals under its influence but not yet integrated are referred to as SCP-XXXX-2 In the center of the mass is a single living humanoid creature roughly three times the size of an average human referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX was discovered at the center of a small crater in Southern Australia (now Site-YY) after the investigation of several missing person reports. While the crater suggests extraterrestrial origin, no other evidence supporting this conclusion has been discovered.

Prior to Incident-XXXX-01, instances of SCP-XXXX-2 were discovered approaching Site-YY on foot at a rate of two specimens per year. All instances, except for those allowed to approach SCP-XXXX, have been contained separately from each other and held for study. All instances to date have originated from the Australian continent, and all identified victims were previously affected by violent clinical depression. It is unknown how SCP-XXXX makes contacts with victims, or why. Once SCP-XXXX makes contact with its victim, they immediately lose consciousness, typically for 5 to 10 minutes. Upon regaining consciousness, the victim (now SCP-XXXX-2) loses all higher brain functions, and begins to walk towards SCP-XXXX. The new instance of SCP-XXXX-2 will not respond to any stimuli after this event, but will traverse obstacles intelligently. If the instance is allowed to reach SCP-XXXX, it will climb onto the sphere and assimilate itself by finding a spot and grabbing on.

Within an hour of assimilation, the newest instances of SCP-XXXX-2 will die and undergo an advanced desiccation process, similar to keratinization. The skin and muscles of these instances dry out and compact, with all bodily fluids migrating towards the center of SCP-XXXX-1. This, along with a permanent and expedited version of rigor mortis, makes the outer “shell” of SCP-XXXX extremely hard to penetrate through conventional methods. Normal human bodies added to the sphere for testing did not assimilate, or exhibit any of these abnormalities. Instances closer to the center of SCP-XXXX exhibit bloating and warping of features, due to saturation. All bodily fluids accumulate in a cavity in the center of SCP-XXXX, with high temperature and pressure. In this cavity, SCP-XXXX-1 lies dormant.

SCP-XXXX-1 is a large humanoid creature, roughly 3 times the size of an average human. It resides in the center cavity of SCP-XXXX, floating in the fetal position. Because of the difficulty in getting to SCP-XXXX-1, not much else is known about its physical features. Research into discovering its origin, intelligence, abilities, and intent is ongoing.

Addendum-XXXX-A: No further instances of SCP-XXXX-2 will be allowed to make contact with SCP-XXXX. See Incident-XXXX-01.

Incident-XXXX-01
< Begin Log >
Time is 11:00, ██/██/██

One instance of SCP-XXXX-2 is released into SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber. This will be the fifth instance allowed to make contact with SCP-XXXX since the Foundation’s discovery of the anomaly.

The Instance approaches SCP-XXXX and assimilates as expected. No reaction or change in status of SCP-XXXX is observed.
End of test. Site is silent until 23:37.

At time 23:37, SCP-XXXX begins vibrating violently. Reverberations heard throughout Site-XXXX, but the site sustains minimal damage, localized to the floor and walls of SCP-XXXX’s containment cell. This continues for approximately 17 minutes.

At 23:54, the vibrations cease. Noticeable increase in temperature and neural activity of SCP-XXXX-2 detected. No further instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be allowed to approach SCP-XXXX.

At 00:22, motion of SCP-XXXX-2 is detected. SCP-XXXX-2 begins consuming SCP-XXXX from the inside. Testing on SCP-XXXX is halted indefinitely.

Addendum-XXXX-B: SCP-XXXX-1 has continued to consume SCP-XXXX for over two months. Notable changes include increased rate of movement and mass in SCP-XXXX-1, along with a deviation from traditional humanoid shape. SCP-XXXX-1 has now consumed approximately 70% of the human remains within SCP-XXXX, and is approaching the exterior. No new instances of SCP-XXXX-2 have emerged to counteract this. All efforts of Site-XXXX continue to focus on increasing the security of its containment cell for the imminent emergence of SCP-XXXX-1.
