Elevator entrance to SCP-2249
Item #: SCP-2249
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: An exclusion zone with a 10 km radius (Referred to as the "Green Zone" from 10 km to 7 km) must be maintained at all times around SCP-2249. Signs warning of extreme radiation contamination along the border of the excursion zone work to deter entry by civilians, however MTF Sigma-19 ("Park Rangers") is stationed at Outpost 16-2249 and polices the borders. Within 10 km and 7 km of the radius, any entrant may be removed without repercussion beyond a mandatory viewing of a safety video on the dangers of radiation.
At 6 km from SCP-2249, a 3.5 m reinforced concrete wall topped with barbed wire blocks further entry into the exclusion zone (from this point on referred to as the "Red Zone"), the only entrance within being Outpost 16-2249. Travel within the Red Zone is only allowed with the use of specially designed vehicles to block radiation, as well as standard personal radiation protection equipment and ear protection. A guide from MTF Sigma-19 must accompany any research parties entering the Red Zone and SCP-2249. Multiple routes leading to SCP-2249 must be kept clear to allow for maximum viewing distance.
Within SCP-2249, radiation protection equipment must be worn at all times, while ear protection is safe to remove within SCP-2249-1. Deviation from the pathway leading to and from SCP-2249-1 is to be avoided; in the event the pathway is blocked while trying to leave SCP-2249-1, personnel are advised to clear or scale the obstruction before any attempts to go around are made.
Description: SCP-2249 is an extra-dimensional space approximately 4 km2 in size, located inside the █████ ██████'s Hospital in the former town of █████, Russia. Space within SCP-2249 appears to be continuous, however upon reaching the edge of SCP-2249 subjects will find themselves at the opposite edge, with no signs of transition. The area within SCP-2249 resembles an old-growth pine forest, with plant life exhibiting signs of extreme malnourishment and light deprivation. A dim grey "sun" is always stationary within SCP-2249's sky at a 12 pm position, providing a dull light. Space within SCP-2249 is looped internally; any subjects approaching SCP-2249's border will find themselves on the opposite border, with no signs of transition.
Entrance to SCP-2249 is through an elevator on the first floor of the hospital, in which is a single Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) on a bed of grass (Poaceea festuca). Pressing the button labeled with a small tree icon will take the elevator to the third floor, where it will open empty. Anyone inside the elevator is taken into SCP-2249. The elevator functions normally when used to travel to other floors, including the third.
Travel within SCP-2249 is extremely dangerous due to instances of SCP-2249-2 both above and underground as well as a near complete saturation of gamma radiation throughout SCP-2249. Mapping the area within SCP-2249 has proven impossible, as most electronics cease to function due to high levels of radiation. The exception to this is a 1.2 km long pathway leading from the elevator entrance to SCP-2249-1.
From the pathway to SCP-2249-1, multiple constructions can be seen, most suffering from heavy structural damage and general wear. Some of the constructs have been identified as a nursing station, a cafeteria, and a storage center. Also identified are two large sporting fields, a playground, and an empty swimming pool.
SCP-2249-1 is the residence of Dr. Delroy ███████, the apparent creator of SCP-2249, who's body was found within. Most of the space within SCP-2249-1 is filled with working machinery, notes belonging to Dr. ███████, and various scrap metal and wiring. Study of these notes has revealed that the machinery is intended to stabilize space-time within a certain area, granting protection from the instability the rest of SCP-2249 suffers from as well as blocking dangerous radiation. This device is functional, as evidenced by the stability of SCP-2249-1, the surrounding area, and the path exiting SCP-2249. Research is focused on replicating this device or increasing it's area of effect in order to stabilize the entirety of SCP-2249.
SCP-2249-2 is the designation given to multiple anomalies within SCP-2249, ranging in size from 11 cm to 1.67 m in diameter. SCP-2249-2 emit lethal doses of gamma radiation and exhibit a strong gravitational pull in their vicinity. Some instances exist simultaneously within SCP-2249 and the surrounding Red Zone, allowing energy to pass through unchanged. Matter that is pulled into an SCP-2249-2 from the Red Zone is deposited into SCP-2249 highly compressed, while matter pulled from within SCP-2249 never emerges. Instances of SCP-2249-2 that do not exist in the Red Zone as well appear visually as a black void, with neither light nor matter emerging again after entering.
SCP-2249-2 can be mobile, moving at a maximum observed rate of 0.63 kph in random directions. SCP-2249-2 also accompanied by what has been described as a loud "roaring" noise, peaking at 152 dB. To date, there are a total of 457 confirmed instances of SCP-2249: 163 mobile instances, 294 stationary, of which 236 exist in both SCP-2249 and the Red Zone. ██ SCP-2249-2 have manifested during the Foundation's containment of SCP-2249.
Addendum 2249-01:
A laptop belonging to the late Dr. ███████ was discovered near his remains. Upon removal and replacement of the battery, a file labeled "Journal" was discovered, in which were multiple video messages recorded by Dr. ███████ detailing his experiences before the creation of SCP-2249 leading up to his death. Due to minor radiation damage, many files have been corrupted or damaged beyond repair. Remaining video transcripts relevant to research of SCP-2249 are available below.
Entry 1
File name: "NewBeginning.mp4"
Date Recorded:11/03/20██
Entry begins, showing Dr. ███████, smiling elatedly and looking into the laptop's camera. Subject is a Caucasian male 26-30 years old, dressed casually and wearing glasses. Subject speaks in American English. The scene behind him appears to be a modest study, presumably within the subject's home before the creation of SCP-2249. A closed window provides no view of the surrounding area.
Dr. ███████: "Ah, there we go. Well, hello whoever is watching this! My name, of course, is Delroy ███████, though if you're watching my personal journal entries then you probably know that. I've decided to document my life from this point on, I figure it might help me to organize my thoughts in some manner. And maybe I'll watch these one day when I'm an old fart and laugh at myself, who knows. Well, the main reason I'm doing one of these today is, drum-roll please,"
Subject reaches off screen, his face leaving the camera's view for a few seconds, before returning. Grinning widely, Subject holds an identification card bearing his picture up to the camera. The words "Dr. ███████, Pediatric Oncology" are written in plain black text, and appears to be from █████ ██████'s Hospital.
**Dr. ███████: "This right here is what I'm so excited about." ID is removed from camera's view. "The hospital here accepted my application, and I'm starting tomorrow! I've moved into my new place as well, it seems nice, and the neighbors came over to say hello earlier. We didn't have any trouble understanding one another, my Russian is apparently up to snuff."
Rest of entry deemed irrelevant to research.
Entry 2
File Name: "FirstDayOfWork.mp4"
Date Recorded: 11/04/20██
Entry opens with mild distortion to video. Dr. ███████ is seen wearing blue scrubs, looking pensive.
Dr. ███████: "Today was the first day. I don't know what I was expecting, I mean, I've worked in a hospital before. But, this one is just so… depressing. Now, █████ isn't exactly the most bright and cheery place itself, but it's as though they've taken all the dreariness of the landscape and magnified it within that hospital. The kids. Most of them seem as though they've given up on everything. If it wasn't for the amazing benefits, I'd be tempted to quit. As it is, I need a drink."
Subject stands up and walks over to a drawer in his study, and pours a glass of alcohol. Subject returns to the seat in front of the computer and takes a long drink before continuing.
Dr. █████ "I can't quit, I just have to stay and try to make things better. Or, something. I hate to see kids like that, it's not right. Alright. I'll talk to the boss tomorrow about maybe some enrichment programs. Maybe a garden or something? It's so grey out here."
Entry 11
File Name: "FortuitousMeeting.mp4"
Date Recorded: 11/23/20██
Entry starts with Dr. ███████ returning from work and talking about his day. Some fragments were damaged, and most irrelevant, until the 4 minute mark.
Dr. ███████: "-left, and I was alone again. Well, I thought I was, until I turned and saw this elderly gentleman. kind of strolling down the hall, looking into some of the kids' rooms. I of course immediately approach him and ask if there's anything I can do for him, ready to call security. Well, he just smiles and shakes his head no, looking like he's about to say something, then pauses. He looks up like he's considering something, then smiles at me again. He had an interesting voice, deep and gravelly."
Dr. ███████: " 'Well, perhaps there is something you could help me with. Or rather, something I can help you with.' What's that supposed to mean, I think to myself. Well, he goes on to talk about his ideas to 'spruce up the place', whatever that means. He asks me meet him, and well I was a little curious, so we're meeting on my next day off. Anyway, I had to go and-"
Entry ends abruptly.
Entry 20
File Name: "ItsFinished.mp4"
Date Recorded: 12/05/20██
Entry begins with shaky footage from a camera being carried by Dr. ███████. A healthy forest, presumably SCP-2249, can be seen to either side. No signs of instability present. Sounds of children laughing, yelling, and talking can be heard in the distance. Subject stops, and the camera is lifted to point at a house, SCP-2249-1.
Dr. ███████: "Ta-da! My new home, as of today! Everything is finally finished! I can monitor everything from here and keep an eye on the kids. "
The camera is turned to show Dr. ███████'s face.
Dr. ███████ "The kids are loving everything here. The other adults were a bit trepidatious at first, but they quickly got over their fear after they saw how much the kids were enjoying themselves."
At this point video and audio are heavily distorted. Normal play resumed 32 seconds later.
Dr. ███████: "Who knew something like this could be so easy? I mean, all it was was math and some elbow grease, and maybe some help from Charles. But I've got notes on all of that, this is not the time! For now, I just wanted to show what I've made. I've never done anything this important, and I don't think I will ever again. It's strange, thinking you've peaked so early in your life. Well, I should get going. Lunch is soon, then we're having a soccer match. Farewell!"
Entry 28
File Name: "TheThing.mp4"
Date Recorded: 01/22/20██
Most footage from this entry was badly damaged, with the exception of an 8 second long section. Shot from the study's window on the second floor of SCP-2249-1, it shows a small instance of SCP-2249-2 about 5 meters away. Dr. ███████ is silent throughout.
Entry 40
File Name: "Failure.mp4"
Date Recorded: 02/28/20██
Entry begins, showing Dr. ███████ looking very distressed. General appearance is disheveled, and subject appears to be suffering from sleep deprivation. A dull roaring can be heard in the background.
Dr. ███████: "Well. They're evacuating the town because I couldn't finish the machine by the deadline they gave. Some military types apparently have been asking what's going on. I'm torn between hoping they find me and drag me away, or staying. How the hell is someone supposed to stop a sub-universe from destroying itself in 10 days? And I can't seem to find Charles. Why would he abandon the town and me like this?"
Subject stands quickly and paces back and forth, hands on the back of his head. After a few moments, subject returns to his seat. Subject takes a deep breath, and appears to be trying to calm himself.
Dr. ███████: "At least now no one else will die. At least now, I can focus, no more distractions or worrying. I figure I can get this thing working in a week or so. I've got food to last a bit longer, and I can still get to the cafeteria for water. I think I should grab some of that first… no, I need to get back to work. Who knows what will happen if this thing fails. Best case scenario, it simply disappears, with me in it. Worst case? I don't want to think about it."
Subject is silent for a few moments before ending the recording.
Entry 41
File Name: "04-30-20██-oAE2v.mp4"
Date Recorded: 04/30/20██
Entry begins showing Dr. ███████, who is now extremely emaciated. His clothing is unkempt, and behind him multiple notes and blueprints cover the walls. The roaring heard in the previous video is much quieter now. Subject is unable to speak, presumably due to dehydration, and uses notes on paper to communicate.
**Dr. ███████, via note:" Got the machine working. Not feeling too great."
Subject pauses to write something else.
**Dr. ███████: "I set it extend a path to the elevator. I'm safe for now. Should take a day. Maybe 2? Don't know. Then I can leave."
Again, subject writes something down.
Dr. ███████: "I can't save it. I failed."
Subject puts down pencil and looks absently down at the floor. After a few minutes of silence, subject looks at the computer, then ends the recording.
Incident report 04/28/20██.2249: Foundation operatives within the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MCh S) were alerted to a possible anomaly in the town of █████ after a significant rise in reported cases of radiation poisoning and rising casualties, as well as civilian reports of "holes in the air". MTF Theta 13 was dispatched to investigate. Interviews of █████ residents did not immediately yield results; multiple persons were reported to say "he will fix it" or "just give him time". It wasn't until the interrogation of one ███ █████████ that the entrance of SCP-2249 was discovered on 05/01/20██, and on 05/02/20██ the path tp SCP-2249-1 was discovered to be safe.
Item #: SCP-2249
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: The area surrounding SCP-2249 is to be protected by standard fencing, patrolled and monitored by MTF Sigma-19 ("Park Rangers"). Reports of an ongoing coal fire in the town of █████ are to be maintained in the media. A no-fly-zone must be maintained within 50 km of SCP-2249.
SCP-2249-1 is to be provided with food, water, and access to any tools required for its work on SCP-2249-α. All work on SCP-2249-α by SCP-2249-1 is to be monitored and replicated at Area 2249-β on SCP-2249-β. In the event of SCP-2249-α failure or destruction, SCP-2249-β must be transferred into SCP-2249.
In the event of complete failure of -α and -β, Protocol 2249-Aeon
Protocol 2249-Aeon:
- All civilians within a 200 km radius of SCP-2249 must be evacuated.
- Replication of SCP-2249-α gains Omega 1 priority
If, after seven days, SCP-2249 is still stable, priority is to be lowered to Omega 2. If stability persist for a total of 30 days or longer, re-introduction of civilian population may commence outside of a 100 km radius.
If SCP-2249 supplants the surrounding landscape in lieu of collapse, then it must be monitored for signs of stability, at which time it shall be downgraded to Euclid and new containment procedures must be drafted.
Description: SCP-2249 is an extra-dimensional space sharing physical borders with the town of █████, Russia. SCP-2249 is roughly 18.52 km in size, and extends to a height of 6.21 km. SCP-2249 is accessible through numerous spaces where SCP-2249 has infringed onto normal space-time, leading to openings through which matter and energy may pass.
The interior of SCP-2249 contains the remains of an old-growth pine forest, with all plant live in a heavy state of decay.
Item #: SCP-XX
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XX is currently contained within an environmentally controlled and hermetically sealed chamber to prevent further decay. Access to SCP-XX requires Level 3/XX clearance or approval from the current Lead Researcher.
Standard subjects exposed to SCP-XX are to be kept in Medical Research Bay 7 under sedation when not needed for testing. Requests for termination in non-essential subjects are to be granted.
SCP-XX-A are to be kept in Humanoid Containment Wing C of Site ██. Each containment unit must meet Houghs Dimensional Safety standards. SCP-XX-A must be equipped with GPS locators whenever brought outside of their containment cell.
Description: SCP-XX is the remains of former Foundation employee █████ █████████. Superficially, SCP-XX still resembles █████████ with severe burns on 80% of the body, however SCP-XX has a weight of 260 kg despite weighing 71.3 kg while alive, with no discernible source of extra mass. In addition, SCP-XX is entirely devoid of any microorganism or bacteria, killing or repelling any that come into contact with it.
Any human that makes direct visual contact with SCP-XX has their perception altered as to include a fourth spacial dimension in normal three-dimensional space. Testing reveals that in ~58% of cases this renders the subject unable to comprehend any visual or tactile information about their environment, requiring full time care to prevent starvation or accidental injury. In ~22% of cases, the subject was rendered comatose immediately upon contact with SCP-XX and remained so until expiration.
Viewing images or video of SCP-XX provokes nausea in all subjects, however no other effects have been documented using these methods. Touching or otherwise interacting with SCP-XX leaves subjects with a strong sense of unease and a desire to cease all contact with SCP-XX. Animals exposed to SCP-XX will retreat as far from it as the testing chamber allows, but remain otherwise unaffected.
The remaining ~20% of subjects, dubbed SCP-XX-A, appear abnormally adaptable to the shift in perspective, and with practice are able to function at near pre-exposure levels of normalcy after an average of 42 days. All SCP-XX-A suffer from acute agoraphobia focused on the outdoors, as well as a pervasive sense of vertigo. SCP-XX-A are able to interact with the 4th-dimensional aspects of their environment, and have difficulty navigating 3rd dimensional space normally.
Interview SCP-XX-A-4:
Interviewer: Dr. Yun, Lead Researcher
Subject: SCP-XX-A-4
Date: 01/18/██
Note: SCP-XX-A-4, a 34 year old white male, was exposed to SCP-XX 3 weeks previous to this interview. During such time, SCP-XX-A-4 made an exceptionally quick recovery, and was the first SCP-XX-A coherent enough to be interviewed. For the purpose of this interview, SCP-XX-A-4 is refereed to as A-4.
<Begin Interview>
Dr. Yun: Good morning, A-4. Are you aware of where you are, and why?
A-4: This is a normal interrogation room, right? And I 'spose I'm here regardin' the weird shit, I mean, stuff I'm seeing?
Dr. Yun: Yes that is essentially it. Right now, we don't know what exactly is happening to or with you, so please, why don't you tell me what you're experiencing? Be as specific as possible.
A-4: Well, I don't really know how to explain. Once I saw that thing my head started hurting a lot and spinning like crazy. The pain went away after a bit, but the spinning stayed. Everythin' looks so damn strange, bigger somehow, and also moving, even when they're standin' still. Like, when I move my head everything stretches and twists like it's being folded over and over again. Even my hands…
A-4 pauses and lifts his hands, looking them over.
A-4: I… I can barely understand my own body. I can feel my arms, but they move weird, like it's harder to get them to go in a straight line through all this… new space? Or whatever it is. Walking is harder, because I have to look and see if what I'm stepping on in going to stay there when I actually move.
Dr. Yun: Are you saying the floor itself moves?
A-4: It folds like everythin' else, yeah, but the real problem is if I'm not careful I can… go around it. Sorry, that's the best I can come up with to explain it. Like, whoever built this place probably couldn't see what I see, so they left holes that I can see. They're everywhere. The floor, the walls, the ceiling… I can see past them sometimes. Walk through them if I'm careful, probably.
Dr. Yun: If that's true, you would theoretically be able to leave this room right now, or just walk out of your containment cell.
A-4: Right.
Dr. Yun: So, why don't you?
A-4: Because I can see outside sometimes, and it's too big. I looked out a window yesterday and the sky itself was twisting, moving like something alive, full of holes that I don't want to look at, going places I don't want to know. If I went outside, I don't think I'd be able to find my way back.
Dr. Yun: Thank you, A-4. I believe I have a much better idea with what's going on with you.
<End Interview>
Addendum XX-1
Currently, there is no known way to treat exposure to SCP-XX. SCP-XX-A do not suffer any other debilitating issues from exposure, and appear to have otherwise normal body and mental function. Upon expiration, subjects show no signs of anomalous activity.
Addendum XX-2
On 02/28/██, Dr. Yun exposed SCP-XX-A-5 to SCP-XX in order to test the effects of repeat exposure. Upon entering the containment chamber and viewing SCP-XX, SCP-XX-A-5 expressed shock and fear, and retreated from SCP-XX, remaining silent.
The following is an excerpt from Test Log XX 15.
Note: After 6 minutes of refusing to cooperate, SCP-XX-A-5 was convinced to face SCP-XX again and describe what she saw when promised that she would be able to exit right after.
Dr. Yun: A-5? Whenever you're ready.
A-5: Okay, okay, I'm good. Okay. There's something on top of the body. It's big, and it's sticking through it and I think it's dead.
Dr. Yun: You're doing great. So it looks biological? Can you describe it more, please?
A-5: Um, I don't know how to describe it's shape. A tree branch? Yeah, like a tree branch except grey and rotting and dead, coming from inside the body, and through it. It looks… incomplete somehow. Oh god, the smell..
A-5 vomits, and coughs while complaining about a "horrible smell" before being allowed to exit the chamber.
Subsequent testing with other SCP-XX-A have yielded similar results, though descriptions vary. Two things were consistent between each viewing: the SCP-XX-A was convinced the object was dead and rotting, and that it was enmeshed with SCP-XX somehow.
This object has been classified as SCP-XX-1 until further research can be done. Notably, SCP-XX-A exposed to SCP-XX a second time have a heightened sense of paranoia and anxiety, and an even stronger desire to avoid the outdoors.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a potentially powerful ontokintetic entity that is currently entirely immobile and seemingly incapable of any action. SCP-XXXX is humanoid in shape with a height of 2.38 meters and an estimated weight of 2.5 tons, though lacks any identifying features such as eyes, mouth, ears, or other external organs. Visually, SCP-XXXX's entire body is solid, matte gray, comprised of a combination of equal amounts of gold, mercury, iron, tin, and lead. These materials are bound together molecularly with an anomalous substance that is extremely tough and flexible. When interviewed, SCP-XXXX-1 claims this material to consist in part of the following:
- "Soil from the base of Yggdrasil"
- 10 liters of raw cows milk
Any damage to SCP-XXXX is repaired instantaneously in two minutes, it is unknown whether or not this is deliberate action on the part of SCP-XXXX or an automatic function. Any matter removed from SCP-XXXX retains its anomalous properties until such time as SCP-XXXX has repaired itself, afterwards, it becomes inert.

WARNING: The following document requires Level 4
BLUE-AETHER authorization to view.
On 02/05/17, a team was dispatched to investigate the crash site of the FS Pondskipper. The team sent to recover the Pondskipper was lost with the exception of one Agent Travors, BA taskforce #48. Fatalities were caused by what is now known as SCP-XX, the remains of Captain Xavier Rodriguez, BA crewman #21. The following is an interview with Agent Travors after his recovery.
Interviewer: Dr. Yun
Subject: Agent Fred Travors
Time: 14:25h
Interviewer Note: Subject was restrained to standard medical cot during the interview and has been administered a mild sedative. Dr. Yun is interviewing from the adjacent observation chamber.
<Begin Log>
Dr. Yun: Agent Travors, My name is Dr. Yun. I'm here to perform your post-mission interview.
Agent Travors: Where are you? Where am I?
Dr. Yun: You've been placed in quarantine at Site 3. Before we begin, can you tell me what you are experiencing right now?
Agent Travors: That's… I don't know if I can do that. I'm honestly not at all sure. Everything is twisted somehow. Warped.
Dr. Yun: Perhaps we can return to that later. For now, do you remember the mission?
Agent Travors: Most of it, yeah. We were dispatched to investigate the crash site of the Pondskipper. The system reported that the crew was dead, and the ship was sending the automated distress signal.
Dr. Yun: And the Pondskipper? What condition was she in?
Agent Travors: In rough shape. Holes everywhere, I'm surprised it even survived re-entry. The Cock-pit was the worst off, though the shields had been lowered, it was still mangled. We had to override the ship's defense system to get inside, and…
Dr. Yun: And that was where you encountered the object?
Agent Travors: No, not quite. We could feel something was off, so I sent Geofferson and Dwent towards the ship's canteen. us nauseous, but nothing else. We found it in the cockpit. It was sealed shut somehow, we had to pry it open. When we did this mass of flesh fell out and I looked up at what was inside
Agent Travors begins shaking and collects himself before continuing.
Agent Travors: It was like someone grabbed my brain and twisted. The others and I fell to the ground. I don't know what happened after, but when I could get up the others weren't moving. My head felt like someone had filled it with sand, and I couldn't understand what the fuck I was seeing. The thing was different somehow, like I could see more of it. It looked like you needed to be fucked in the head to understand it, and the shape, it almost made a pattern.
Agent Travors: It seemed almost like… it was alive still. I mean, what I could see of the corpse itself was clearly dead, but something was there, inside it almost. Growing. Hypnotic. I only looked away when I remembered my team.
Agent Travors: I didn't know… I didn't know the others were already dead. I closed my eyes and activated our beacon and got up. I couldn't find the exit, but I ended up outside anyway. That… that was bad. I was scared, and just kept walking.
Dr. Yun: So how did you end up inside of a tree?
Agent Travors: In a tree? Is that what happened? Well, it looked like I could just walk around it, but apparently I got stuck. Don't know how. Then the backup team found me, and here we are.
Dr. Yun: I see. At this time I'd like to end the interview, you've been of great assistance today Agent Travors. Thank you.
Note: Agent Travors was the first confirmed SCP-XX-A, though his experience differed from all other subjects in that his perception of SCP-XX changed to make him aware of some of it's origin, though to what extent is unknown. Travors was terminated humanely after discovery of SCP-XX's affects.
<End Log>
Note that none of the remaining crew of the Pondskipper were made to have such an effect as Captain Rodriguez; though they have similar growths, their remains were determined to have no anomalous effect and were subsequently incinerated. Ship's log reports equipment malfunctions while only two light-years from Earth, after surveillance of SCP-████.

The entity floated through space, solar winds buffeting it but doing nothing to stop its advance. The star in front of it was vast, an ancient red monstrosity that had been burning for time incomprehensible. The star sat in space like an ancient king on it's throne of void, believing itself above all that it surveyed, invincible against any but time itself. It's strength was a marvel to behold, a challenge, a dare.
The entity continued on, heedless of such warnings.
It reached the nuclear edge of hydrogen and continued through the dense plasma, deeper into the giant. Despite the entity's speed, the journey still took time, though the entity did not count. Finally it reached the core, now cooler than it had been, almost bereft of precious Helium.
The entity held out an appendage, and there was a light to make the center of the star seem dim. From the outside, the star would seem to shrink, collapsing inward, as plasma, light, and heat were all drawn into the entity. The giant, who always seemed to move slow, was spinning faster and faster, throwing off plumes of plasma only for them to be sucked in with the rest. As it spun, it compressed, , and mere minutes later it was the size of a planet and a hundred times brighter. Still, the entity gave no mercy, drawing everything into itself. Finally, the last bit of star stuff snaked it's way into the entity. It shone brightly, brighter than the star had in its prime.
The entity shivered in ecstasy, rebelling in the aftermath of its meal. Suddenly it shone brighter, and prepared to travel to its next target.
28 light minutes away, behind the safety of an asteroid, Xavier Rodriguez dimmed the glass of his viewing station and adjusted his safety goggles. He still had to squint, and refer to his monitor, but he took notes on the entity nonetheless, and wondered what exactly he was supposed to do about something that ate stars for breakfast.
Luckily, the problem was avoided as the light in the distance faded, showing empty nothing where not an hour before there had been millions of miles of something. Xavier sighed, made another note, and hoped that the entity was moving away from, rather than towards, Earth. Most of the time, he could handle his job no problem, but there were some things that defied explanation even for someone routinely exposed to the inexplicable.

2249: "Failure" - no fuckin wandering black holes or whatever - static rips in space instead. no radiation; plants are dead from the surrounding environment seeping into the other dimension, too cold. When rips tear open is bad, explosions? Or just super-heated air that destroys things. Overlapping the whole town too. Keep machine in doctor's house. Charles? Do they know?
It's fuckin dark in there brah. "The sun went out today." Only light is from the rips, whatever leaks in from the town. Cold, dark, empty - shits desolate. Whole things falls apart, what then? Does it just replace the real town around it or destroy itself or both? who knows.
