Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently contained in Temporary Foundation Monitoring Station XXXX, located at 212 D████ Lane, ██████████, IN. Standard Foundation disinformation protocols are to be maintained concerning this location until such time as either a means of relocating SCP-XXXX is discovered or Projected Event SCP-XXXX-α occurs, at which point containment procedures will be revised appropriately by on-site personnel according to testing results.
Due to the urban location of Station XXXX, containment procedures are primarily concerned with ensuring that information concerning SCP-XXXX does not come into public awareness. To this end, an inoperative fumigation tent has been erected around Station XXXX, and primary disinformation procedures have involved establishing that the building is undergoing extensive treatment for infestation of various common urban pests. All Foundation personnel assigned to Station XXXX are to follow standard disinformation protocols when entering or exiting the area in order to maintain this illusion.

SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-3, removed from containment. |
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept inside an insulated, air-tight metal safe, the interior of which is to be kept below fifty (50) percent humidity and at a constant twenty (20) degrees Celsius at all times, to prevent degradation of the contents. The combination to the containment safe is to be known only by personnel with a security clearance level of 2/XXXX or higher.
SCP-XXXX may be removed from its containment for experimentation with the approval of two (2) personnel with security clearance 2/XXXX or above. When removed from containment, SCP-XXXX is to be treated with the same care afforded to any paper document. No copies of any text contained within SCP-XXXX are to be made under any circumstances.
Subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX for any length of time are to submit to at least one (1) psychological examination per week until declared free of contamination, as per measurement protocols laid out in Document XXXX-a. Personnel found to be affected by SCP-XXXX are to be issued class-C amnesiacs and kept in custody until psychological examination verifies that all traces of contamination are no longer present.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a set of three (3) cardboard-bound notebooks, designated SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2, and SCP-XXXX-3, respectively. SCP-XXXX was recovered from the home of Foundation Ethics Committee member Doctor E███████ in 2003. Foundation recovery agents were dispatched to the site when [REDACTED]. Immediately after the agents' arrival, Doctor E███████ [REDACTED] and was declared dead at the scene. SCP-XXXX was recovered without further incident.
SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2, and SCP-XXXX-3 are entirely normal in every physical respect, and consist of three notebooks manufactured under the Moleskine brand name from 1997 onward. The notebooks show signs of natural decay associated with aging, along with trace amounts of water damage. Each notebook contains a title written on the inside of its front cover, and the subsequent pages are almost entirely filled with text. The handwriting within the notebooks has been positively identified to be that of Doctor E███████. SCP-XXXX-3 is a slightly smaller notebook than SCP-XXXX-1 and -2, but exhibits the same properties.
SCP-XXXX contains handwritten notes on the field of ethics and morality. SCP-XXXX also exhibits certain memetic properties when its contents are read and understood. Subjects who study the content of SCP-XXXX risk infection by these properties.
SCP-XXXX-1 is labeled "On the Quantifiability of Morality", and contains a lengthy dissertation on the field of ethics. Due to the memetic properties of SCP-XXXX, the details of the text cannot be reproduced safely, but researchers have determined that the ethical theories put forth in SCP-XXXX-1 hold no relation to "traditional" ethical philosophy, instead treating morality as an almost physical property that objects and actions can possess, analogous to temperature or mass, and the field of ethics as a science similar to physics or chemistry.
SCP-XXXX-2 is labeled "The Mathematics of Objectivity", and is filled with a series of equations and operators which have almost no relation to traditional mathematics. Each equation and operator is either defined within the text itself or accompanied by a reference to the text of SCP-XXXX-1. Careful study has determined that SCP-XXXX-2 is only infectious if the reader understands the equations, which requires previous exposure to SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-3 is labeled "The Judgments of Reality", and contains handwritten equations from SCP-XXXX-2, with the variables replaced by specific values. The equations are divided into "cases", with each case given its own name. Among the cases labeled are Foundation Procedures [DATA EXPUNGED], as well as several notable historical events, including [DATA EXPUNGED], and many apparently-nonsensical instances involving non-human, non-sapient, or non-living subjects. The expressions yielded by solution of the cases are available for viewing in [DATA EXPUNGED].
Infection by the memetic properties of SCP-XXXX is marked by a stark shift in the subject's attitude towards any subject that they studied in relation to the contents of SCP-XXXX. Said shift is nearly always one that would be described by others as negative. Recorded examples have included: individuals with extremely liberal political leanings becoming radically conservative, up to and including advocating the tenets of totalitarian dictatorships such as [REDACTED]; the torture and mutilation of household pets; attempts to murder close relatives, including children; attempting to initiate containment breaches on Euclid- and Keter-class SCPs, including [REDACTED]; [DATA EXPUNGED]; and individuals who had previously been advocates of existential nihilism and atheism becoming members of [REDACTED].
Individuals infected by SCP-XXXX have thus far shown to have a greater than 95% recovery rate when administered class-C or stronger amnesiacs in conjunction with rehabilitative psychiatric counseling.
