"The Paradox Contract"- SCP by Gibus_Expendable

Item #: SCP-2549

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2549 can be left in the Archives among other files. No strict monitoring of SCP-2549 is required. Any authorized personnel may access SCP-2549 at any time.

Description: SCP-2549 is a standard 8x11 sheet of ███ brand printer paper, commonly used for the Foundation's office supplies. Printed on the paper is a file detailing SCP-2549 itself, in SCP document format. The exact text seen on this file is that which appears on SCP-2549. Its own existence is apparently a result of its documentation of its existence. In this way it exhibits similar traits to SCP-2357, created by a defector from the Foundation. However, SCP-2549 has not shown any memetic or infohazardous properties as of yet, and consequently is not believed to be related. The nature of this paradox is still being studied, and a definite conclusion has yet to be made. Its original author is unknown.

SCP-2549 was discovered by Doctor Andrea Senna, in the Foundation Archives. While searching for files on SCP-925 to update containment procedures, she stumbled upon SCP-2549 lying face-down on the floor, adjacent to the wall. Dr. Senna picked up the paper and noticed the file's label, #2549. At the time of discovery, special containment files were only listed up to #2412.

Dr. Senna submitted the subject for examination immediately following the discovery.

Camera footage and witness testimonies show that the paper simply "appeared" on the floor, without any evidence of having been placed there or dropped. No physical effects of contact with SCP-2549 have been observed.

Addendum: Interview with Dr. Senna 3 hours after discovery of SCP-2549

Interviewer: Dr. Senna, I'd like to hear how you came upon SCP-2549.

Senna: Well, I was assigned to update 925's SCP, and I went to the Archives to look for some info. I was in Section F when I found it. It was on the floor, facing down.

Interviewer: And what did you do with SCP-2549 once you had found it?

Senna: I brought it in for examination, just like the file said I would do. I didn't want to rip a hole in the universe or something.

Interviewer: Very good. And are you acquainted with a one Vanessa Graff?

Senna: I heard what she did, but trust me, I'm not planning on defecting or anything. My heart is with the Foundation.

Interviewer: Then everything seems to be in order. The witnesses have reported nothing to oppose your alibi, so it looks like you're off the hook.

Senna: Just one more thing.

Interviewer: And what's that?

Senna: Well… [sighs] …one of the things written on that file was this interview. All of it. Everything we've said up to now, word for word.

Interviewer: Wait… what? So does that mean…

Senna: Hold on a second. [takes interview notepad and scribbles something on it]

Interviewer: So… does that mean you know exactly what I'm about to say?

Senna: [holds up the notepad with the exact words just spoken by Interviewer] Word for word.

Interviewer: Holy s—-.

[silence]

Interviewer: Let's stop talking about this now.

Senna: Yes.

Addendum 2: When further questioned on the incident, Senna replied, 'I just can't help feeling that my life is predetermined, that everything I do and say is bound to a contract. That I have no free will, and never had any. My only consolation is that everyone mentioned in the document is in the same boat. You included."

Dr. Senna was later killed during the [DATA EXPUNGED].
