Item #: SCP-2208

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2208 is to be contained in a plain fifteen by fifteen foot room occupied only by a single D-class individual and a small variety of devices designed to assist in holding and maintaining heavy loads. As of [Redacted] the small crane formerly in use for this purpose is no longer required, but should remain on standby in case of emergency. D-Class individual is to hold SCP-2208 above their head for a scheduled work period of six hours maximum before trading off with another D-class individual. Under no circumstances is SCP-2208 to ever be placed on the ground or below the head of any individual holding it. As such, D-class individuals should be within the 5'10” to 6'2” range to prevent the need of adjusting height.

Description: SCP-2208 is a simple Gothic-style wooden chair made entirely out of oak wood and held together by regular metal bolts. At present, SCP-2208 weighs an approximate 3.890000 Kilograms and slowly decreasing. For every second that passes SCP-2208 spontaneously gains one full pound of weight with no visible increase in mass or density, only loosing such weight when held above the head of the first or current human individual in contact with it, loosing one and one one-hundredth of a pound with every passing second on top of the one pound gained each second to a net loss of one one-hundredth of a pound loss for every second SCP-2208 is held above the human head. So far in it's known existence, SCP-2208 has shown no signs of strain nor stress from the force of it's own weight.

SCP-2208 was first discovered in the center of a seemingly imploded house in the middle of [Redacted] Alabama, the long-dead corpse of it's previous owner found nearby after apparently having died of exhaustion. While impossible to measure the exact weight of SCP-2208 at the time, it appeared to have been high enough to create a small crater in the earth's crust all on it's own, and even had the beginnings of what appeared to be a small gravitational field. [Redacted] heavy-duty cranes were required to lift SCP-2208 off the ground at the time, allowing for proper measurement and discovery of the miniscule weight-loss while a human being stood beneath it and maintained physical contact. SCP-2208 was moved with great difficulty to a more secure sight to undergo present regimen to decrease it's weight.

Addendum 1: Dr. [Redacted] would like to add that it was fortunate SCP-2208 was discovered when it was. Another year or two and SCP-2208 would likely have sunk into the earth's core and continued to increase in weight until the formation of an infinitely growing black-hole. It is theorized that SCP-2208 may loose it's weight gain permanently should it find itself in negative weight. In the meantime however attempts to destroy SCP-2208 are to be delayed until it reaches a more manageable weight.
