Hi.

I hope this is the correct way to go about this :)

Here's an idea I have for an SCP. Advice would be appreciated.

I know I need to tidy up the nomenclature and make all the regerence numbers etc consistent, and do some maths to get the 'seven-league' thing sounding reasonable. The base is that the boots multiply a normal person's stride by 'seven leagues' lol so I'be done some rough internet research into what a league is etc. Hopefully my aim is clear.

I also worry that it might be too long.

Here's what I have so far:

Seven League Boots.

Item
Object Class: safe
Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-X is to be secured at Facility 345 in a locked container when not being used for testing.

Description:

SCP-X is a pair of brown leather lace-up hiking boots, UK size 11 (American size 12). The left boot is designated SCP-X1, the right boot is designated SCP-X2. SCP-X1 has a noticeable scuff mark on the rear heel, otherwise both boots appear to be in a condition describable as 'shop new'. Neither has any branding or markings save for the number 11 embossed on the inner rear soles of both. Tests indicate no anomalous materials in SCP-X's construction, but SCP-X nevertherless displays unusually high durability and resistance to physical damage save for the described scuff mark. SCP-X in its base state rests inside a white cardboard shoebox with lid, upon which is affixed a 20cm x 10cm plain fawn paper label , bearing the text 'GRUMPLEBACK JACK'S SEVEN-LEAGUE BOOTS'. The shoebox has been designated SCP-X0

When handled, or worn by a Subject at rest, for example standing or sitting, SCP-X displays no anomalous behaviour. When worn separately without their partner by the same Subject or when worn at the same time by different Subjects, SCP-X display no anomalous behaviour. SCP-X's anomalous properties manifest when the following conditions are met: both boots are worn at the same time by the same Subject, and the laces are securely tied such that the boots cannot be removed without untying them. When the Subject then attempts motion involving foot movement, SCP-X amplifies the distance travelled by a factor of up to 33,800. SCP-X also increases the speed of gait or movement by a variable factor. Small movements of either or both feet by less than approximately 5cm do not always trigger the anomalous behaviour. Taking single steps, jumping, hopping or longer sliding motions however, do. The anomalous behaviour in the vast majority of cases results in loss of limbs and death for the Subject. See Addendum SCP-X-223 for experiment results.

SCP-X was brought to the Foundation's attention during routine monitoring of emergency services communication channels in the city of Cardiff and the nearby town of Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. The incident was flagged as possibly anomalous, and Agent YYY was dispatched to investigate. Agent YYY's report identified SCP-X as requiring containment. Incident SCP-XAmarks the first known activation of the anomalous properties of SCP-X. At 10:34 on REDACTED, emergency services were called to a dwelling in Cardiff by a distraught 38-yr old caucasian female, where the remains of a 45-yr old male caucasian were found. Cause of death was established as violent sudden dismemberment and significant blood loss. The body was clothed in summer outdoor apparel. The right leg from the hip joint down was missing from the incident scene, and structural damage to the exterior wall of the dwelling was found, namely an irregular hole approximately 40cm in diameter, the edges of which were partly crusted with ragged strips of human flesh. The female described in interviews that the deceased had dressed for a hike, put his new boots on, and exploded.

At 10:49 on the same day, emergency services in the town of Merthyr Tydfil, 21 miles north-northwest of Cardiff, were called out to a dwelling, where they discovered the partly shredded remains of a human leg (right) wearing a single hiking boot in a ground-floor room. The inhabitants of the dwelling reported that the leg had been "thrown through the living room window", with what they described as great force.

Locals at both locations and along an as-the-crow-flies line between the two locations reported a sonic boom, the timing of which correlates with the incident. The local emergency services identified the leg as belonging to the body, and the unusually short time between dismemberment in Cardiff and 'arrival' of the leg in Merthyr flagged the incident for further investigation. The autopsy and police report presented no sign of any identifiable cause for the incident. Two days after the incident Agent YYY was contacted by the wife of the deceased, who informed him that the deceased's boots had mysteriously reappeared in their shoebox. Deducing from the label and the unexplained relocation that the boots were the probable cause of the incident, Agent YYY secured SCP-X for transport to a Foundation facility in the US.

Addendum SCP-X-233

Tests took place at Facility 345 in the Nevada salt flats.

Test 1
Subject D-1003 (34 yr old male caucasian, triple homicide) instructed to don SCP-X and lace securely. D-1003 instructed to take one normal step forward with left leg. D-1003 expressed amusement, proceeded with instructed motion. D-1003's left foot travelled in a low trajectory from rest in AAA seconds to land approximately 21 miles from start. D-1003's left leg violently separated from body at the hip, D-1003 collapsed in considerable distress, dying from blood loss and shock 2 minutes later. SCP-X retrieved and returned to SCP-X0.

Test 2

Test 1 repeated with D-1004 (19 yr-old female asian-american, infanticide) and instructed to move right foot.
Result equivalent to Test 1, trauma to D-1004 more severe, hip and groin explosively fractured, death from blood loss and shock after 48 seconds. SCP-X, cadaver and leg left untouched at respective impact points, monitored. 39 hours 20 minutes 11 seconds after separation, SCP-X1 and SCP-X2 simultaneously vanished and reappeared inside SCP-X0.

Test 3

Subject D-1005 (54 yr-old male caucasian, kidnap, multiple counts of rape) instructed to don SCP-X, lace securely, jump vertically.
D-1005 projected vertically at mach 2.6 to an altitude of CCC meters, then fell to earth at terminal velocity. Died on impact.

Test 4

D-1006 instructed to don both boots, lace securely, jump and 'click heels together'.
D-1005 projected vertically, increasing speed to 32 mph at an altitude of 760 meters where high-speed cameras recorded D-1005's heels impacting, both legs projected outwards at explosive velocity severing left leg at groin, right leg at knee joint. D-1005 then fell to earth, deceased on or before impact. Left and right boot recovered (with remnants of legs) from impact points a (9.4 miles from start) and b (8.1 miles from start).

Test 5

D-1006 (22-yr old female caucasian, vehicular manslaughter, volunteer with gymnastics experience) instructed to don SCP-X, stand, perform single back flip.
D-1006 performed back flip, landing both feet together 1.2m from start, no anomalous behaviour detected. Instructed to remain immobile, remove SCP-X. SCP-X removed without incident.

Test 6

D-1006 informed of properties of SCP-X, expressed desire to attempt triple back flip. Researchers accceded request. D-1006 donned SCP-X, stood, commenced experiment.
High-speed cameras recorded D-1006 performing first back flip successfully with no evident anomalous behaviour. On second flip, SCP-X accelerated both horizontal velocity and rotational speed of D-1006. Velocity measured at mach 1.3 and rotational speed at 880 revolutions per minute at separation of both arms, both legs, and head from torso. Left and right boot recovered with accompanying legs approx 680 yards apart, 17 miles from start.

Project Lead Comment: "Well, they're seven-league boots. Useless. Box 'em up"
