Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
Description: SCP-XXXX-A is the attic of a farm house located 5.5 miles south from the town of ██████ in Minnesota. SCP-XXXX-A currently contains a single black journal and a twin-sized bed, designated as SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 respectively.
SCP-XXXX's primary anomalous effect manifests when a human subject sleeps within the physical limits of SCP-XXXX-A alone and without being observed throughout its sleep. The manifestation of SCP-XXXX's primary anomalous effect is dubbed a "Black Night" event.
After a "Black Night" event, the human subject will disappear from SCP-XXXX-A and the contents of SCP-XXXX-1 will be rewritten to contain a first-hand account of the subject's experience in SCP-XXXX-B. SCP-XXXX-B is believed to be a recurring interdimensional space resembling SCP-XXXX-A, with a few individual differences that depend on the memories and experiences of the subject of a "Black Night" event. Subjects of a "Black Night" event are currently unrecoverable from SCP-XXXX-B.
After a "Black Night" event, there is also a high likelihood of a physical item being found in SCP-XXXX-A that was not present before the event. This item will disappear after a subsequent "Black Night" event, regardless of whether it is observed or not. SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are currently the only permanently recurring objects after a "Black Night" event, and other items placed within SCP-XXXX-A have a chance of disappearing after a "Black Night" event.
SCP-XXXX's secondary anomalous effect is dubbed a "White Night event. A "White Night" event occurs when a human subject sleeps within the limits of SCP-XXXX-A with at least one other person, or is observed while sleeping1, which will cause SCP-XXXX-A's primary effect to not manifest.
After a "White Night" event, the subject will wake up feeling rested and content, commenting that they had a "wonderful" dream they cannot remember. SCP-XXXX-1 will also be rewritten; however, it will not be as extensive as after a "Black Night" event.
Documents and notes on a select few SCP-XXXX events are given below.
An example of SCP-XXXX-1 after a "White Night" event.

I dreamt of white because I was not alone in the night.
The rest of SCP-XXXX-1's pages are blank.
The subject of the 01/11/1997 "Black Night" event was D-84325. D-84325 was an adult male of 43 years of age with no prior mental or physical health problems.
January 12, 1997,
I didnt dream of anything cuz I was alone in the night. When I woke up it was already early morning. I smelled cooking but I didnt want to bother the person who was cooking. It probably wasnt for me anyway.
i went to the window and looked outside. there was only snow. lots and lots of Snow. Maybe there was a tree somewhere out there, or maybe everything that was alive had died underneath the snow.
Nothings ever been alive. theres only ever been snow. What was I thinking. I thought about dreams I have been having, of being inside some sort of foundation. I was kind have like some sort of guinee pig. what a terrible dream. except last night. It was the first night in a long time that I havent dreamed.
I looked around my room. when was the last time I had gone outside? I stood by the window and looked outside for a very long time.
I remember when I was young, I remember one day when my dad got me my first ever record. He let me pick it out in the store. It was probably terrible, I think it had some sort of naked woman on the cover. but he let me have it and we went back to the house and listened to it together.
No it was actualy good, it was I think a Black Sabbath record. I picked it out because he didnt let me have the one with the naked woman on it. He said that it wasnt what he usually listened to but he still enjoyed it. I loved it.
wheres my old man now? underneath the snow probably, along with everyone else.
I went over to the stairs and I counted them. 23. good. I still have some time to listen to music before the sun sets.
I went over to the records and found the black sabbath record. i should be quiet, i dont want to discturb the person below. I listened to one side of it, then l looked around and found my dads records. He liked frank sinatra and some jazz shit. I listened to one of them, it was called in the wee small hours of the morning.
when it started to play, I began to cry. i cried thinkgin about my dumb dad, my dumb wasted life.
i wasted it here inside this room i wasted it thinking about what i would do outside with everyone but that wsbefore they all died left me alone here in this room alone
all my life ive been waiting for my lucky break. it never came. i dont remember ever connecting to someone like I did with my dad, ever listening to music with someone with nyone out thereis there anyone??
when did it get so dark?
i go to the stairs. theres only 7 of them now. whats gonna happen when the sun sets?
i go to the
the record player and want to play one last one. why am I crying so much?? i look around and find one with a white cover. its not the beatle is it? i thought i accidentally lost that one.when i play it oh my god its my dad hes singing to me hes telling me he loves me and that everything will be okay. its dark outside now and hes in the room and he tells me i dont ever have to be alone in the night anymore i dont have to be alone lone
It should be noted that SCP-XXXX-A did not contain a record collection before the 01/11/1997 "Black Night" event but the next morning a nonfunctional record player with a blank vinyl record was found in SCP-XXXX-A2.
D-2023939 was the subject of the 07/06/2003 "Black Night" event. D-2023939 was a female of 31 years of age. D-2023939 was chosen because she was illiterate and had severe speech impediments, but otherwise had no mental or physical health problems.

I did not dream because I found myself alone in the night. And when i awoke, I found that I was truly alone in the day.
I went over to the staircase. I counted 30 steps. 30 steps for every path I took to this place.
This place is the only one I've known. Every path I took is the same because there was only ever one of me. And I am only one path from stepping away.
I once dreamt that I could not read or write. Dreamt or undreamt? Nightmares, dark and black.
But what was better, living alone without anyone to speak to or not being able to truly speak? Maybe life is unfair. Life is the thing where such choices live inside. And I'm its wretched traveller.
I count it again. 22 steps. I hear the person cough downstairs. I almost ask if okay. But I don't. Maybe I should choose to not choose anymore. Let life live through me like a river.
I can see the trees outside, and farther away the fields. The corn has grown, and soon it will bloom.
Little people, I used to think there were little people in the corn. I think it was only because I wanted there to be. Little people.
A person I could hold in my hand.
Because I am wanting and I am unsatisfied. I have been known loneliness in empty rooms. I am
an emptiness defined by the shape of others, delineated by living within the space of definition of others and

Hello! What have we here. A new book?
I cry out. Its my poetry its my poetry its my poems and theres hundreds of them. hundred of when did I have the time? I don't remember. I quickly check. 13. but what's this?
there's letters in the book. and they tell me thank you. You wrote back to me and said thank you "thank you." And a review no two, no 9.
When did I have the time to write? but I don't have time to read these letters. 5. No, dont come up don't go down. I still have a little light.
NO. I didnt know what a feeling of happiness I would have to see my own work before me, praised, thanked for a part of me, a part of my soul my poetry in their minds. 2. I never knew
the beauty of having your own self in your hand, lovedd
no i never knew what it was to not be alone in the night. no no and i turn around and of courseits finally you coming up its
After the 07/06/2003 "Black Night" event, a hardcover book was found inside SCP-XXXX-A. The pages of the book were blank except for random and unintelligible markings that seemed to have been made with a permanent marker. It was noted that the final pages were damp with something resembling human lacrimal fluid. The hardcover book disappeared after the subsequent "Black Night" event.
The subject of the 10/17/2012 "Black Night" event was junior researcher Dr. ████████. Dr. ████████ volunteered for the first MINDLINK0.1 experiment involved in SCP-XXXX. MINDLINK0.1 allows the host to transmit sensory information without direct contact through physical or visual means through the use of [DATA EXPUNGED] to a receiving computing system. An hour into the experiment, the link between Dr. ████████ and the receiver was broken, apparently by Dr. ████████ himself, and a "Black Night" event ensued.
October 18, 2012
I did not dream because I was alone in the night. What I thought would happen did happen. When I woke up, I was struck with the sudden idea that all of my life before had been a dream. And when I thought about other people, I knew that I was the only other person in existence. How did I know this? It must be an idea that latches on during transportation.
I went to the window and looked outside. There were trees and fields with ripe corn in the distance.
I went over to the staircase. I counted 35 steps. I should have done this first, so that I could have at least given some information as to what the original number of steps is. I counted again. Still 35. I waited for a few minutes and counted again. Still 35. I stopped waiting and walked away because it would be weird if the person below came around and saw me just staring down the staircase.
I looked around the attic, I mean SCP-XXXX-B, ah who cares. It doesn't matter anymore. It never mattered. The truth is I came in here to die. Or something inside of me wanted to die, and I followed. And I wanted to go out with a bang.
There's nothing else in SCP-XXattic. the attic. Why am I pretending to be a part of some foundation. They were just dreams I had. There's nothing in this room because all I wanted was the memory of you. Because I have been having dreams of a face I didn't know, of someone I used to know but didn't know anymore. Her name, the shadow of her name, has haunted me for a long time now. And now that I'm in here I remember, I remember why I wanted to die.
Her name was ███████ ████████. She worked for Dr. ███████ in Site-██. We worked together. I loved her. I love you ███████ and I've missed you. She died when SCP-████ breached containment and I saw her die right before me. I saw both of her halves die right before me. And then I was amnesticized, as per protocol. But I remember you now again I remember again.
I have the rest of today to remember and live with you.
I check the staircase. 19. So little time? I should collect that I should stop dreaming of information for a foundation. wanting to collect information to understand because it was full of lonely and scared people wanting to understand something and maybe that's why I dreamed of it and lied to myself. I wanted to live in a special world with special things, unexplainable things, because it made me special too. But I'm just lonely, afraid of my own inconsequentiality.
But it did exist.
No it didnt. Only you existed. you were the only thing that made me special.I look out the window. Maybe it's best to just look out as the sun sets and whatever happens happens. I wonder if I'll be able to see a star before the sun completely sets. You were the one who told me if I ever think I ended up in some other dimension or reality to look up at the stars. For some reason, you can tell if you're in another universe by looking at its stars.
You told me that. a lot of things. I want to see your eyes again and kiss you and you said you loved me. i loved both halves of you before they died.
I remember asking you why, it always made me wonder why the Foundation had a logo. It was this secretive ultra secret organization, and yet it had a logo! You laughed and said it's not that weird, every other secret organization has a logo too. But you never answered why, never could answer why. you loved me.
And now I know why.
I know because I forgot your name, your image. I voluntarily forgot it, I am so sorry. But now I know why we have a logo because of that. What a stupid thing to think about now, but its a little question I've always had.
Maybe I can answer all of the little questions that make up my life in the time I have left. I check. the sun is low in the sky. It's evening. 8 steps. I've
realized how lonely an unanswered question can be.Why has nobody ever tried walking down?
There's nobody in the house. I honestly thought I would find you. There is no house only an attic. I'm at the window again. I open it and fall outside. I fall for 2 seconds. Did I even wlak down the
the stares I walked feelll stumlble and tumble and I loved you the emmory and I finally found myself again at the windown falling donwnanf and downa aagain but I am here again I cant leave but th i shouldnt have done that
who left the window open i didnt if I could have only i didnt
im outside i shouldnt have done that im in side out i can see inside out the house
There is something inside the house that wants to be seen something inside of me that always wanted to be seen and you but there is such an emptiness too, trying to understand is an attempt to fill to see to know I wanted and now I know that there is a lack a great lack in the house a wanting to be seen and to understand to understood to have only if i could have only seen you one last time
I started to walk and I walked until I could not see myself from the house the houseisalogo and I am a logodisappeared behind the yellow corn and I thought I heard you cry from the house but there is no house and there is nothing out here but someone is crying out to be seen and found and touched and now I dont know where anything is or if Ill ever not be but i walked to inside my human hear i waslked into my human heard and i looked up and THERE ARE NO STARS THERE ARE NO STARS there are no stairs nooone and now i know now that i am truly alone alone in the human lonely humanhumidheart of nightt
After the 10/17/2012 "Black Night" event, nothing physical was found in SCP-XXXX-A but researchers who entered the area stated that they now had a faint memory of someone who had once been close to them; however, they could only broadly describe this person as female and a fellow researcher.
Testing on SCP-XXXX was discontinued while an investigation into possible compulsion effects were conducted. None were found and eventually testing resumed, at which point effect
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
Description: SCP-XXXX is an otherwise normal nineteen (19) year-old human male, formerly known as ████ ██████. SCP-XXXX expresses certain characteristics of psychopathy, such as disinhibition, antisocial behaviors, and sadistic tendencies. It is able to conceal these characteristics for long periods of time behind a mask of goodwill and a charming demeanor. These have the effect of disarming individuals and concealing any facets of itself that it deems counterproductive to its goals. This effect does not appear to be anomalous.
SCP-XXXX usually carries around a knife or other similar instrument, deemed SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX does not seem to be able to discern between possible SCP-XXXX-1 objects, and any instance of SCP-XXXX-1 can be replaced with another during sleep or loss of eye-contact without realization by SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX believes that there has only ever been one instance of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX refers to SCP-XXXX-1 as "Lazarus."
SCP-XXXX is unpredictably violent, and will attack and attempt to kill3 any person that provokes it with SCP-XXXX-1. Chances of provocation and violence depend on the mood of SCP-XXXX at the moment, which may be difficult to gauge. SCP-XXXX usually attacks a person that it has known for a while and that it has grown resentment for, but it has attacked Foundation personnel and D subjects indiscriminately before, explaining there was "something about their face."
SCP-XXXX, although showing the aforementioned signs of psychopathy, seems to have the ability to feel remorse and some amount of empathy. SCP-XXXX suffers from chronic anxiety and depression stemming from its childhood, and has reported having nightmares about its violent actions4.
SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects manifest after it commits murder, when it will show a great desire to rest, and will do so nearby the terminated person. After approximately thirty (30) minutes, SCP-XXXX will wake up again, seemingly in an altered-state of mind. It will then approach the expired victim and begin (some unspeakable horror that I don't know yet) and return to its resting place and continue sleeping uneventfully. The expired victim will reanimate and appear to be completely fine once SCP-XXXX wakes up, without suffering from any ill-effects or visible wounds no matter the amount of trauma committed onto them by SCP-XXXX, as well as no recollection of their death.
SCP-XXXX has explained its murderous leanings as a way to "blow off steam," and has added that "it's not like I'm hurting them."
Acquisition Log: SCP-XXXX was discovered in the town of ████████ after reports of a curious double kidnapping/homicide were intercepted by Foundation personnel. SCP-XXXX was found in his basement by local police, where he had kept two (2) persons hostage for two (2) weeks, evidently killing and reanimating them all throughout the ordeal. The victims, ███ ████ and ████ █████, are currently held in ██████ State Psychiatric Hospital.
Foundation agents were alerted when the victims' stories began to circulate around local news. While proper protocol calls for complete erasure of interaction with an SCP, it was deemed simpler to continue the commitment of the two (2) victimes
Experiment XXXX-12
Purpose: Interrupt reanimation process by interfering with rest
Procedure: SCP-XXXX was allowed to kill D-7920 as per usual. When SCP-XXXX begain resting, he was subjected to [Data Redacted]. The process was successful; SCP-XXXX became incapable of sleep.
Summary:
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid Neutralized
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment unit. […]
Update: After Incident XXXX-19, SCP-XXXX is considered neutralized.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 20 year old human male measuring 2.1 meters tall, formally known as ██████ ████████. SCP-XXXX first caught the attention of the Foundation after a string of broken world records in track and field at ██████ █████ University in ███████, █████████, at times setting records far beyond what is humanly possible. SCP-XXXX was subsequently found to be anomalous, and an extensive amnestic operation followed.
The anomalous nature of SCP-XXXX is a continuous loss of mass without any resulting loss of matter, an effect that carries over to any matter placed inside the physical bounds of SCP-XXXX. At the time of acquisition, SCP-XXXX's mass was found to be 35 kilograms, well below expected mass for a person of its stature.
SCP-XXXX has shown no control over this phenomenon. The only known way to reverse this effect is through the introduction of new matter into the physical bounds of SCP-XXXX, either through the ingestion of food or by surgical means. The former method is not sustainable due to SCP-XXXX's non-anomalous metabolic rate. Matter that is removed from SCP-XXXX loses this effect, such as sweat or excretia. Matter that is removed does not regain its lost mass.
It is SCP-XXXX's low mass that has led to its athletic ability, as the total potential force it is able to apply remains constant while its inertia continues to decrease.
SCP-XXXX is predicted to lose all mass in 25 years.
Addendum 1: On 10/05/200█, after discrepancies between predicted mass and actual mass, SCP-XXXX's effect was found to be accelerating. Updated estimates predict that SCP-XXXX will lose all mass in 4 to 5 years.
Addendum 2: On 04/07/201█, 5 years after initial containment, SCP-XXXX requested the possibility of neutralizing its anomalous effect. Request was denied.
During this time, the mass of SCP-XXXX was measured to be around 0.25 grams. SCP-XXXX had to be restrained as its density caused it to be buoyant in the air.
Addendum 3: On 05/09/201█, SCP-XXXX complained of great pain around its restraints. Bruising is present at all contact points. Slight touches are capable of inflicting significant bodily trauma. A major revision of its containment procedures was enacted to prevent further damage to SCP-XXXX (See updated containment procedures). During enactment of new containment procedures, SCP-XXXX suffered additional damage to extremities.
SCP-XXXX's mass was measured to be around 0.003 grams.
Addendum 4: On 05/11/201█, SCP-XXXX complained of an ache present throughout the surface of its body. Further observation found that its hair was acting under Brownian motion, suggesting that the ache was caused by the kinetic energy of surrounding air molecules. The temperature of the containment cell was lowered to mitigate SCP-XXXX's discomfort, as well as depressurized to just above 6.3 kilopascals of atmosphere.
The mass of SCP-XXXX was no longer able to be measured without the possibility of extreme damage. Its mass was expected to be around 0.00000000092 grams. It is expected to lose all mass in 4 hours.
Incident XXXX-19: On 05/11/201█, observation began 20 minutes before 23:15:02 SCPT, known as critical time, at which point SCP-XXXX was predicted to lose all mass. Observation was supervised by Dr. ██████. His notes are presented below:
23:05:09: SCP-XXXX informs observers of "beginning to feel hotter and hotter" even though its cell was cooled to a few degrees above freezing. Speculated to be the intrinsic energy of the atoms in its body beginning to be felt by SCP-XXXX. The cell is injected with sedatives and SCP-XXXX loses consciousness.
23:11:35: Sensors begin noticing elevating radiation and increasing amounts of unpaired low-mass electrons (LMEs) in the containment cell. This was expected as the kinetic energy of the atomic particles would begin to increase the temperature of SCP-XXXX's body and ionize it. Some concern is brought forward to the possibility of SCP-XXXX expiring before expected loss of all mass.
23:12:50: It is decided that the temperature of the cell should be lowered further until critical time.
23:14:02: SCP-XXXX begins glowing a faint red. Burning is observed at extremities. Concern is brought up as to the possibility of SCP-XXXX "melting" before critical time. The cell is cooled past freezing and depressurized further; concerns as to whether SCP-XXXX would perish in these conditions are immaterial as a human being can survive in these conditions longer than is needed for critical time.
23:14:50: SCP-XXXX begins exhibiting quantum effects. It's total mass is expected to be near to that of a hydrogen molecule. While heretofore SCP-XXXX had been brightening up, light that reflected off of SCP-XXXX now begins to be detected at a lower energy level; this is strange as SCP-XXXX was predicted to continue to brighten. The amount of unpaired LMEs has increased greatly and are now interfering with sensory equipment. SCP-XXXX is observed to darken at a great rate.
SCP-XXXX breached containment at 23:14:58 SCPT. There are no updates until 24:20:10 SCPT.
24:20:10: It is currently -01:05:08 to critical time. Between now and the last update, SCP-XXXX, or rather, the remains of SCP-XXXX breached containment. This was due to a combination of quantum tunneling effects and a newly discovered effect I will try to summarize in this update. But first, to continue the containment breach report; SCP-XXXX's particles began accelerating in all directions as their mass approached zero. We saw SCP-XXXX's body come apart right in front of us. Time was of the utmost value: certain devices were quickly brought to contain what little of SCP-XXXX remained in the containment cell. Fortunately, 0.14% of original mass was able to be captured. The rest I suppose is traveling across space near the speed of light.
Now, a summary of the new effect discovered today. Owing to the discrepancies between our predictions of the mass depreciation of SCP-XXXX and reality, a very fruitful couple of weeks were had tinkering with all sorts of physic theories to explain our shortcomings. A plenty of wild ideas were eventually found to be useless; who knows how many additions and changes we made to the standard Einstein-Quantum theory and how many new ones we made from scratch. However, the explanation appears to be a simple one, and was devised by the young Dr. █████████: mass is a ratio whose complex numerator is increasing with time. It appears that SCP-XXXX's mass-ratio for some reason or another got caught in a snag as it were. The rest of the universe continued its "acceleration" of mass. How or why this is occurring is currently unknown, but we suspect that it may not be anomalous but rather a natural state of the universe. The only thing needing to be found now is some process for how the fundamental forces are keeping up with this continuous increase in mass so as to not upset anything. I have submitted a request to the O5 council to have SCP-XXXX reanimated to get to the bottom of this.
SCP-XXXX's remains retain their lost mass. Requests for the study of this matter are to go through Dr. ██████.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: The instances of SCP-XXXX currently contained are to be stored in individual files on the lone computing system assigned to SCP-XXXX. This computing system is to be isolated from all external networks.
Update: Pending further notice, the computing system assigned to SCP-XXXX is to remain shut down. Any activation is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
The website ██████████████████ is to be removed from the index of all internet search engines, and any unauthorized access should be noted and looked into by Foundation personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX. Foundation webcrawlers are to scan pornographic sites to locate further uncontained instances of SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous computer virus that consists in most cases of over a thousand lines of random code that do not correspond to any programming language. Instances of SCP-XXXX all possess unique coding, barring a single line present in all instances:
watchesyouwatchporn
This line is often found embedded near the end of the program.
SCP-XXXX affects media of a specifically pornographic nature, attaching its code to the media file like other non-anomalous computer viruses. The code does not have the effect of corrupting the file due to its irregular language, and it is able to be parsed by the computing system and opened without incidence. Any file infected by SCP-XXXX is classified as SCP-XXXX-01.
When SCP-XXXX-01 is viewed by a subject, they experience an intense desire to sexually stimulate themselves using SCP-XXXX-01. This has occurred despite the content of the media and the subject's own sexual inclination disagreeing, as well as with subjects that identify themselves as asexual.
Media infected by SCP-XXXX is regularly uploaded to various pornographic websites.
Addendum: SCP-XXXX is currently pending evaluation of its object class after a website, ██████████████████, was found on 11/██/██. The website appears to host videos of subjects that have used media infected by SCP-XXXX, taken as if from the subject's own computer camera, even in cases where the subject's computer has no camera. The videos are titled only with numbers corresponding with latitude and longitude (this prompted the immediate discontinuation of testing on SCP-XXXX at Site ██). Investigation into the posters and commenters of ██████████████████ has yielded no results.
In most of the videos, there appears an entity, referred to as SCP-XXXX-02, behind the subject. SCP-XXXX-02 is a person of indeterminate gender, clothed in attire similar to a nun's habit, with a veil covering the face and what appear to be antlers protruding from the head. SCP-XXXX-02 stands over the subject in close proximity and in silence without moving. Commenters on the website call this SCP-XXXX-02 "Demeter," although its relation to the Greek goddess is unknown.
It has been established that SCP-XXXX-02 is not an element introduced through video manipulation but rather an actual object being recorded; however, prior testing had failed to capture SCP-XXXX-02 through outside observation. Trying to interact with the entity where it supposedly manifests has also failed. The only evidence of SCP-XXXX-02's existence are the videos on ██████████████████.
Shortly following the discovery of ██████████████████ by the Foundation, the website changed its homepage to include a message stating that "We've moved to another site!" with a link that leads to a nonexistent domain.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Anomalous Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secure anomalous containment unit.5
Description: SCP-XXXX is a pane of mirrored glass measuring 2.5 x 0.5 meters. At the time of acquisition, it was kept in a plain white wooden frame. Its anomalous features occur when a subject views themselves in the mirror; once they've seen their reflection, they show a marked interest in their own and others physical bodies, often stating that they "had never realized how interesting we look." The effect fades away once contact with the mirror is broken, with the length of time it takes to fade dependent on the amount of time spent viewing their reflection.
Pending updated description and containment procedures after Incident WHY-87719
Incident WHY-87719: On 11/02/████ at 6:21 AM, Dr. Howards was found sitting in front of SCP-XXXX by Dr. Yang and a few of his colleagues, whispering and staring at his reflection. Dr. Yang noted that there was a large stain of blood on the left sleeve of his coat. Dr. Yang called site security as per protocol, and told his staff to begin the recording equipment, thinking the record would become helpful. Dr. Howards continued whispering to himself before noticing Dr. Yang and stood up, at which point Dr. Yang and his colleagues realized that his left arm had been dismembered and was being held in place by Dr. Howards himself.
Dr. Howards then began trying to speak to Dr. Yang, but was largely incoherent. The recording equipment was activated at 6:23 AM. At 6:28 AM, site security appeared and tried to detain Dr. Howards. Dr. Howards became violent and was terminated at 6:31 AM.
Transcript of Audio Log WHY-87719
[audio begins]
Dr. H: —and you could become, I don't know. The thing is that it wanted to know, and I decided to show it, what it is to be human. Humanity is a cold thing, I said. We're oh so very cold. [quiet laughter] But we're mammals aren't we? That's what I had thought, and I still think that still. And it thought that was very interesting. I know, right?
I began watching ████████ when I was a young man and fresh out of college. Wow. I was blown away. What is that, it said. An explosion. I felt its hands on me. I saw it in my eyes. It moved like a bird dragged down and eaten by the dirt worm.
An explosion? it said.
[slight pause]
Dr. Y: You don't seem to be in pain.
Dr. H: You seem very concerned. Don't worry about me. I'm an old man. I'm a very grateful old man. I give to charity.
I've lived already, but what have I felt? It's so true, he is strange but I know him well. To know someone is to not be afraid of them, or maybe it's the fear of being alone held in the distance from your arm?
[Dr. Howards makes a motion of his hands, causing his dismembered arm to fall]
My arm. Where is it? Humanity is so cold. What is it to be human? I looked in the mirror and it asked me. I don't know. How interesting.
I never told you about the inside of things. When you cut something, you see something else. But you can't cut something without losing it. I told it that. I'm a man. What is that? A man isn't a woman. How interesting. It was a man because it knew it wasn't a woman. A negation of something he knew. What is it to not be human? It's cold too. When you cut something and it becomes something else, that's where the coldness of things is. He knew at the moment. The panel of glass is cold. It's cold because we know that it's cold, and we can feel something so cruel. Humanity is wanting to know, it seems. We are the same, it seems. He was me. He saw the inside of me, and I kept falling towards him in short spurts. My heartbeat. What is a heart to the tree held of which you're made of? I began crying and everything was so interesting. I went to the barber and he—
[at this moment, security arrive and try to detain Dr. Howards]
Agent C: Dr. Howards, move to the corner of the room and place your, your hand on the wall.
Dr. H: They're new. Colors. It must be peculiar, seeing the world a reflection of a man-made mistake. [his voice becomes too quiet to be picked up] —but a friend is a friend, in the end.
[Agent Carlisle grabs Dr. Howards and pulls out [DATA REDACTED] to detain him]
Dr. H: That black box. That will make me sleep. But sleep helps the mind and keeps the surface from fracture. Yes, but no normal sleep, a poison sleep with no dreams. A sleep within a sleep, the other afraid of waking the one. You don't want that. I don't want that. I want to live as of yet. I want to know! [Dr. Howards begins yelling and fighting against security] Why is it me, why me? I am not Moses! The sea is grey to me! Part it forth! Part it forth! Let me see what's on the shore! I am dying without having lived! I need to know! The world's so inte—
[Dr. Howards pulls out a knife he had in his possession and wounds Agent Carlisle. Agent Carlisle terminates Dr. Howards]

Dr. Yang, Dr. Ame, Dr. Herr, and Dr. Bloomfield, who were all present at the incident, received Class-C amnestics. Agent Carlisle successfully returned to duty.
SCP-XXXX is, at this time, quarantined in a temporary 4 X 4 meter holding cell. While being moved, it was noted that the surface of SCP-XXXX had become less reflective, and was clouded by a soft shade of white.

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the impossibility at this time to contain all suspected instances of SCP-XXXX-01, the 2█████ individuals that are presumed instances of SCP-XXXX-01 are to be observed regularly, and copies of all written work produced by these individuals stored in the library assigned to the study of SCP-XXXX.
The 10 9 confirmed instances of SCP-XXXX-01 currently contained are to be kept in individual Humanoid Containment cells. They are to be given a personal journal. Requests for books may be accepted if approved by Dr. V██████.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous effect present in certain work written by a living instance of SCP-XXXX-01, which appear to be otherwise non-anomalous human beings. Writing by an instance of SCP-XXXX-01 causes a feeling of seemingly unreasonable negativity in regards to the contents of the work, as well as copies and photographs containing it.
SCP-XXXX does not affect all writing: testing has found that for the effect to manifest, an instance of SCP-XXXX-01 must feel a combination of pride and confidence in their ability at the moment. Writing that is notated or copied by SCP-XXXX-01 from another source does not seem to gain the effect.
Once an instance of SCP-XXXX-01 dies, by any means, the effect disappears and the writing ceases to cause any negative feelings.
Addendum: After the unnecessary suicide of SCP-XXXX-1-C, personnel are instructed to say only flattering remarks concerning writing by SCP-XXXX-01.
