SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept on a pedestal in the centre of a windowless containment cell. The interior of this cell is to be painted to resemble cloudy skies [SEE ADDENDUM XXXX-01], and is to be regularly maintained. During the repainting process, all personnel must avoid visual contact with SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 3-dimensional star-like object which can shift and change its form (has been observed to shift into cubic, spherical and prismatic shapes). SCP-XXXX is made of an unknown metal. The sphere has a reflective surface like a mirror and reflects light in the same manner.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous affects only take place when the object is looked at by any human and a reflection of said human can be seen on the object. If any individual looks at SCP-XXXX, the entity looking at SCP-XXXX will see a distorted reflection of themselves due to its spherical shape.

The individual will then suddenly feel melancholic, their personalities change and they eventually become introverted and prefer to avoid people. From 2-7 minutes after exposure to SCP-XXXX, the individual begins to subtly develop depression. The individual will then begin to undergo a process of being pulled into a continuous trance of reflection, where the individual is then said to be constantly reminded of all negative memories and pushed into a suicidal mental state [SEE EXPERIMENT LOG 1]. However the trance keeps the subject paralysed and therefore the affected individuals are stuck in said mental state. Any attempts to interrupt this behaviour however is met with hostile action as the subject seemingly breaks the paralysis effect, this can be dealt with swiftly as the subject does not possess any increased physical capabilities. Having multiple subjects affected by the object can in fact increase the threat level of the SCP.

Experiment Log 1: A Class-D subject is ordered to enter SCP-XXXX's cell once the paint has been cleared off the walls. The subject is then ordered to stare directly into the object while ordered to detail what they feel. The Class-D subject is a middle aged Caucasian male, charged for [DATA REDACTED] and was retrieved to work for the Foundation. Bellow is the following discussion between D-XXXX and Dr.█████.

D-XXXX: What the fuck is this thing? Just looks like a mirror made by some artist on crack.

Dr.█████: Do not question the object, just do what you're told and look into the object, then tell us what you feel.

D-XXXX: Well…I feel fine, nothing out of the ordinary here.

Both the Class-D personnel and the doctor stays silent for a while as D-XXXX continued to stare at the object. After approximately 7 minutes, D-XXXX begins to speak up.

D-XXXX: Doc…I…

Dr.█████: Yes?

D-XXXX: What have I done…? My life, everything in it…has been nothing but…but a waste…I am a horrible being…all the shit that has led me here…I…

D-XXXX begins to cry, as Dr.█████ watches the subject show an increased feeling of sadness.

D-XXXX: Aaaahhhh! Fuck it all! Dammit! I should have died already! I hate this! I fucking hate it! My life is just full of garbage! I [REDACTED] them, and they did not deserve it!!! Every one of them would have probably lived a nice and quiet life if I didn't exist!!!

D-XXXX continues to cry as he begins to explain events in the past that has affected him negatively, as the experiment continues D-XXXX was stuck in paralysis while continuing to suffer from a state of crippling depression. Foundation personnel was then sent into the cell to retrieve D-XXXX as Dr.█████ concluded the session, the subject attempted to attack the personnel but was met with swift force, he was then administered Class-A amnestics.

Addendum XXXX-01: SCP-XXXX's effects seem to prove ineffective when no reflection of the observer is present, making it safe for visual observation via surveillance cameras. Its effects also prove to be ineffective when the object is exposed to any visual representation of cloudy skies or an overcast on its reflective surface, the reason why this occurs is unknown. As to how ██████ █████ figured this out, it is possible that they are somehow related to the subject due to suddenly knowing this way of revoking its effects.
