LCirce Mystery Wrench

Item #: SCP-####

Object Class: Safe

Object Storage Procedures: SCP-#### is contained in a storage locker in Site 19. The locker is 2 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet, and is secured by a simple padlock. The keys to the padlock are kept in the Oversight Office 7.

Any experimentation on SCP-#### requires approval of a Level 3 Level 4 Researcher, given potential effects of Incident ####-Kappa.

Description: SCP-#### takes the shape of an Nineteenth-Century Monkey Wrench. The object is unadorned, with no paint or special markings save for a series of unknown symbols along the shaft of the object. Symbols have been tentatively identified by Dr. W███████ as matching some of the symbols on SCP-271. Symbols have proven to be non-infections and non-memetic. The object is entirely made out of a metal similar in consistency to iron, but somewhat denser. The object exhibits signs of rusting and wear, but resists deliberate attempts to either damage it or induce rusting.

SCP-#### was recovered in a sting operation on [REDACTED]. SCP-#### was recovered in a package, containing a single note. Note was handwritten, and apparently incomplete. Transcript of note is as follows:

I have recovered the tool and deliver it to you. Deliver us unmade to be made. The tool of Him rests on Earth, to be kept until the true day. Let not the unworthy wield it. Let His creatoon [sic] be wound—-

Note ends in illegible markings at this point.

SCP-#### exhibits its anomaly upon usage. When tightened securely around an object, an user, hereby designated SCP-####-1, may attempt to turn SCP-#### as per normal usage. Immediately upon attempting this action, SCP-####-1 will undergo intense feelings of vertigo, accompanied by the idea that all of their surroundings are rotating in the opposite direction of the attempted motion of SCP-####. These feelings persist for as long as SCP-####-1 attempts to turn SCP-####. During this time, SCP-####-1 will fail to actually turn SCP-####, with their musculature locking in place as though straining to turn SCP-####. This effect occurs whenever a human attempts to manually cause SCP-#### to rotate.

After extensive testing, this effect is found to occur regardless of the object that SCP-#### is tightened around. No lasting psychological or physical effects have been recorded due to usage of SCP-####. From initial testing, the anomalous effect is caused by an interruption of the signals of the nervous system of the user, disrupting signals sent to the musculature. This effect instantiates in all baseline humans who attempt to directly force rotation of SCP-####. It also occurs in baseline humans who attempt to force an instance of SCP-####-1 to induce rotation. Accidental force, such as falling onto SCP-####, or indirect force, such as use of a robotic arm to directly manipulate SCP-###, do not trigger the anomalous effect, and can cause SCP-#### to rotate without issue.

Testing was halted following Incident ####-Kappa, which summarized as follows:
Incident ####-Kappa - 02/11/2███

Subject: SCP-####-1-8
Procedure: Subject attempted to rotate Artifact while secured on designated horizontal test pole. After anomalous effect began, an automated arm was set to manually force rotation.
Results: Upon forced rotation, Subject immediately lost consciousness. Several nearby personnel immediately felt light vertigo, without accompanying idea of environment rotation. Artifact rotated 57 degrees. Upon forced rotation, symbols appeared on the Artifact, and began to appear along the length of the automated arm used to manually force rotation. Testing was immediately halted, and symbols ceased appearing following termination of experiment.
Analysis: Forced rotation of the artifact possible, but amplifies anomalous effect, and initiates unknown secondary effect. Testing temporarily halted.

SCP-#### was immediately secured, as was the automated arm, designated SCP-####-2. Prior to this point, no symbols had been observed on SCP-####. After the symbols were tentatively identified by Dr. W███████, protocols in line with those employed for SCP-271 were initiated. After further testing, SCP-#### and SCP-####-2 were both found to be non-infective and inert. SCP-####-2 was found to have no anomalous properties beyond the presence of symbology, and was destroyed.

Addendum 1 - 02/13/2███: Reports from [REDACTED] indicated that SCP-882 underwent short periods of sudden motion, despite correct containment protocols, when SCP-#### was being tested. These periods of motion coincide with each test. Due to this and the aftermath of Incident ####-Kappa, SCP-#### is considered to be related to The Church of the Broken God, and further experimentation is restricted until further notice.

Addendum 2 - 04/21/2███: Embedded sources report the Church is unaware of the Tool being found. In light of this, further security upgrades are deemed unnecessary.
